Also, I feel like Fishing has become very important to Zelda as a mini-game and I really hope they get more indepth with it in the future, but not overboard :) overboard as in, where that is the MAIN minigame lol.

So, I just got my newest issue of Game Informer today, and its the 200th issue, so it was a kind of special issue. Naturally, they did a list of the top 200 video games of all time. Usually, I just get annoyed with these because all of them (on any magazine or website) have the same games in the same spots, so I really don't see the point in them. So, I fliped to the number one spot, 100% sure of what game I was going to see there, and what do you know?! It wasn't Ocarina of Time! It was the original Zelda instead! This is actually the first time I didn't see Ocarina of Time number one on a list like this. Oh, and it wasn't in the top ten at all-it was number 20.

I'm just glad that a widely trusted, popular source like Game Informer broke the mold of not putting OoT number one, since I truly don't think it belongs there. I don't hate the game, of course, but I think other Zeldas are better. (Although I got to say, the original shouldn't have been above it and OoT at least belonged in the top ten.)

Anyway, what are your thoughts on this? Agree, disagree, or don't really care? I know these types of lists don't really mean anything, since they're made from opinions, but the fact that OoT wasn't one truly shocked me.

By the way, in case you wanted to know, ALTTP came in at number 12, LA at number 61, MM number 63, TP at 90, and WW at 94.

Discuss!

If you read the latest article you know what i am speaking about. But to be honest, this isn't new. Zelda (and nintendo in general) like to change the flow and then randomly return to the original flow. Think Zelda 2 (side scroller), and Majora's Mask (...masks...). Also remember SMB2, plus classic DK.

Now in this topic you may discuss what you like or dislike about the "change of flow" or what your favorite "change of flow" was.

But the real question that i hope someone may answer for me is, why?

i think its because ninendo doesn't just want to recreate the same game and thus changes it, but when the next console comes along, the improvements in graphics will out weight the consumers want for a different flow

thats a guess with a very poor explanation and i dont like it, so someone please give me a better reason why why ninendo (more specifically zelda) would do such a thing

New article: The Soul of a Game

Will video games as a medium be forever relegated to the pop cultural ghetto? Or will they establish themselves alongside such revered mediums as film, literature, and music? I happen to feel that the game industry could learn a lot through a closer examination of the Legend of Zelda series.

I'm interested in what you all think about this subject - both Chris Heckler's keynote and my response.

Do you think the Zelda games deserve a greater level of scrutiny from the game industry in terms of their artistic qualities and interactive storytelling experiences? What do you take away from these games, and how do you feel about my comment regarding their soul? I've described some of my experiences with the games; what experiences in the games stand out for you?
Then there's the topic of game designers incorporating their life experience into the games they build. How do you sense this in games? How does this compare to other mediums? Is this even necessary?

Personally, I really liked the Swamp Shooting Gallery from Majora's Mask- challenging without being irritatingly impossible, entertaining without being repetitive, this game is just all around fun. Best shooting gallery in the series, without a doubt.

So what's yours?

After a long effort of searching, I found a program that will allow me to create a game like Legend of Zelda : Minish Cap, but with more flexibility and better graphics.

By reading various posts of the forums, I am willing to make a zelda spin-off.

If you want your own custom sprites used in the making of this game (Can't use Nintendo's sprites. Copyright and blah.), just format them to this style :

Characters :

Textures (Ground, buildings, etc) :

Hopefully, with the cooperation of the community, I will get enough inspiration and resources to get this little doozey finished. And the best part is, I can make it multiplayer, online. :mastahsword:

Bad part is, I need to have a computer with a static IP. If someone would be willing to use their computer (If it has a static IP) to host a server in event of it becoming an MMO, it would be helpfull.

I wonder if this will catch on...

I am thinking of making a Zelda Game that:
-Has a Zelda Engine (Not a cheap point-click or maze game)
-Is Online (WAN and LAN)
-Is Server and client style
-Has the Link to the Past Graphics
-Has New Puzzles
-Is for Windows 95,98,ME,XP,Vista
What does everyone think?
(I want to do this, however only if there is a demand for it.)

If everyone thinks it is a good idea, I will need help with:
Please tell me what you think.

Do you think Link gets enough characterization in the games? I know that may sound strange, but in a lot of the games, he's just that tank in green that can't be killed. He doesn't show much character development throughout, and can also sometimes lack... well, humanity! He just stands there with that dumb look on his fa-- *shot saying "Link" and "dumb" in the same sentance*

I like Link as a character, but in some games he has no story to tell, no friends (except for the occasional game where he was childhood friends with Zelda), he just jumps in and saves everyone. So do you think in the near future, he should be given more character? Could he have friends that die in the evil attacks? A voice? *shot again* Relationships with women? (I mean more canon than before, but not too obvious, just to give fans something to speculate about :waggle:)

What do you people think?

Well the title explains it all. I have decided not to include a poll because of the number of swords availible. this is *NOT* based on power, just looks. In my opinion I'd have to say the razor sword from MM that thing was sick.
