[Discussion] The Tower of the Gods & Co.
Ok so here's a structure in the Zelda universe that really has very little, almost none background at all. We know it's called The Tower of the Gods which could mean that the Goddesses are worshiped in it, or it might because it reaches high up to Gods as a reference to its height.
But the peculiar thing is it's function in TWW and it's absolute absence in OoT which is a prequel to TWW. As you know after you fight the boss in the tower and climb to the top you ring the bell and the portal to old Hyrule opens. If this is an ancient structure from Old Hyrule aka before the flood then why would it have such a function? Even more, the way the tower is "summoned" by statues on islands around it's location shaping a perfect triangle. What I'm trying to get at is that the The Tower of the Gods was created after the great flood, perhaps even (Most probably) by the Goddesses themselves as a link to Old Hyrule. As they are Goddesses you'd expect them to know what is going to happen or at least being able to predict it so they made sure that the MS would be somehow accessible in the future and not lost in the sea forever. This raises another topic for discussion, how did the MS got to where it is in TWW? I assume that the royal family simply moved it but let's see... One last thing which I actually thought of while writing this is why would the Goddesses leave such a structure after the flood, or even better, why leave the MS accessible? As we know the Great Flood happened to destroy Ganondorf. So are the Goddesses themselves unable to destroy Ganondorf? Most of you probably remember the article assuming that Ganondorf is a way older evil being (Alternative Interpretation of Ancient Demon reborn I believe is the article). Is it possible that Ganondorf is actually a God / Demingod himself whose power matches with the power of the Goddesses? Is he immortal? Happy discussing. |

Answer to all of these questions:
We don't know, we have no idea, nobody will tell us. Probably the most interesting question is this: So are the Goddesses themselves unable to destroy Ganondorf? and, quite frankly, I'll have to get back to you on that. ![]()

A more interesting question is "Do the goddesses know that a hero will someday appear to thwart Ganon/dorf, and therefore do not feel the need to intervene as he destroys the world?"

I assume that this is true and I believe this is the reason why they created the Tower of the Gods and made it Link to the place where the Master Sword is resting so that the future Hero can obtain it. But they didn't made it too obvious to prevent everyone finding a way in. |
