Tournament - Round One - Two vs. Two

Alright! It's here. We're ready to get this thing started. So, we took in all the entrants that we could manage. We then randomly drew names from a hat and matched you all up with one other person. So, the first round of this tournament will be a two on two.

Now, just so that none of you get confused, we've written some guidelines.
  • First off, there is a one character limit for the tournament. However, if two or more of your characters are heavily linked, and require eachother to be present in order to battle or exist, you may use more than one. Note, though, that this will not serve as an advantage.
    -
  • Next, we've decided to set some limits so that this doesn't go on forever. Each person participating will have a five post limit in this round. Now, posting order can go however you like, but every person must participate in a cycle before a new cycle can begin. If the battles are not finished within two weeks, then they will all be locked, and we will judge from what is there.
    -
  • Winning a battle does not improve your chances of moving on. We're judging on the quality of writing, and the content of the post. Thus, if you go about smashing other characters without remorse and intentionally take no damage, you'll lose quite a few points.
    -
  • We've produced a small description of the area that each battle will be taking place in. This is simply so that the person who posts first does not gain an advantage by getting to bend the setting to their liking. Don't complain, just restrain .

Now, we will judge the battles after they are finished, or after the time limit. All battles will be moved during that time. Say goodbye before then, because you'll most likely never see them again. After we've finished judging, we'll post a thread very similar to this with the battle list for Round Two.

So, I guess it's time we gave you the lineup.

Tournament - Round One - Two vs. Two

Hyrulian Hero and Lunchbox vs. Angel and nikuvillian -- Factory

The Elemental and Wolfen vs. Riku's_girl and Quark -- Mountain Valley

Awbri and insaney vs. nekoryuuha and Honor -- Forest

So, how do we decide who goes/posts first?

First come first serve, I suppose. Everyone needs to post in a cycle before you can post again, though.

Re: Tournament - Round One - Two vs. Two

Okay... since we can switch, I have a question.

My character Daruz has a subcharacter (see bottom of his profile) will I be able to use him, or is it just like you said with two characters.

Aerixeth can I use Rika since Arika has no skill/magic or fighting things at all and runs at the first sight of a fight.

I would say that so long as neither needs the other to be present in order to fight, Skif the demon would not fall under the exception list.

Re: Tournament - Round One - Two vs. Two

So does that mean I can use Rika, since she doesn't need Arika to fight.

If Arika can't fight, then yes, just use Rika. Why bother asking, though.

Edit: Why does Rika need Arika to fight?

Re: Tournament - Round One - Two vs. Two

Alright, let's just put it this way. If for some reason you're unable to separate the character you wish to use from another character, then yes, you may include the other character(s).

Re: Tournament - Round One - Two vs. Two

This question is coming out of fear that my partner will barely post. What if it comes to a point if my partner falls inactive. You see, my partner hasn't returned in 3 days. I realise that people have lives, but if everbody posts except for one, and it lasts about 2 days, what then?

Eh, try your best to get in touch with him/her. If you can't, and a member neglects to post for three days, skip their post, I suppose. Or maybe post here and I'll take a look at it to be sure.

Re: Tournament - Round One - Two vs. Two

I was just wondering something. Do the two people that progress from each group have to be on the same team? For example if it was "x and y vs. a and b" could x and b both progress?

Re: Tournament - Round One - Two vs. Two

No. We have the people paired up so that they have to work together in order to move on. Perhaps it wasn't the best format for a first round, but it worked out so that more awesome battles would ensue.

Re: Tournament - Round One - Two vs. Two

Yes, I don't think it really was the best format. It means that certain pairs have a near certain place in the next round. It would have made more sense to do it that any two people can advance, this way all the weaker writers would (probably) be knocked out in the first round. With the current method we'll already be losing writers in the first round that would deserve a place in the second. For example, Safer and Zanza are up against each other in first round, that's one gone instantly.

Okay, this is bugging me, so I'm gonna ask:

Does the plot of each fight have to be a Tournament (i.e. it can't be some random battle)?

Quoted for truth.
