Favourite Genre?

I'm not sure if there already was a topic like this. But you didn't expect me to search through all of the pages did you? :3

Anyways. I'll start off.

My favourite genre of music has probably got to be good 'ol rock. I simply hate hip-hop, rap... that sort of stuff. I really like drum and bass but it's nothing special to me. I recently got into metal, mostly because of Avenged Sevenfold and I'm listening to them a lot now. The only other music you'll catch me listening to is MAYBE a bit of dance hall. But its mostly just anything rock or related to rock somehow. Like some alternative rock, indie, some emo rock. Whatever

Have fun.

Re: Favourite Genre?

These days genre is pretty irrelevant to me. I used to have this thing where I thought that I had to pick a genre (rock in my case) and completely ignore everything else. Luckily I grew out of that and I can enjoy a wider range of things.

Including hiphop, thank goodness. I used to be in so much denial about loving Outkast's Hey Ya but now I can shout it from the rooftops xD

Funnily enough I don't listen to that much rock these days, it tends to sort of bore me. I'm not that much of a guitar person. Also I'm listening to a lot of trip-hop lately.

But good music depends on the listeners taste. :3 People might think eminem makes good music. But I hate hip-hop/ rap sort of stuff. And I don't think it's good at all.

Travestyhelp, people do often tend to like music from a specific group of genres.

No. By saying I like rock music, this means that no other music/genre is good.

LOGIC, man.

Re: Favourite Genre?

Whatever floats my boat, honestly.

On my laptop.. I got gospel, country, hip hop, pop, Jazz, indie, classical, etc; always been like that. Don't ever remember a time when I just liked one thing.

Re: Favourite Genre?

I loves my rock (and despise hip-hop with a passion.) :3

Though I don't mind a smidgeon of pop or disco on the side, most of my playlist is comprised of different types of rock. :>

New Wave is also good. o:

Eminem is pretty brilliant. The way he rhymes is unlike any other musician. I actually shouldn't say that considering the vast number of musicians. And, lyrically, he's just plain awesome.

Re: Favourite Genre?

I listen and love music from pretty much every 'major' genre, and several sub genres and sub-sub genres and so on and so forth.

Not a fan of any particular genres. Just a fan of music.

Genres are useful, and sometimes necessary, when it comes to discussing music and reccommending music. It isn't something that should set people apart and put them at odds. Music fans are music fans, you should be able to have a discussion about music with a hip-hop fan even if you don't like it yourself.

I once wrote a really big post about the subject.

Hey Cambria posted in my thread.
I've been listening to some progressive metal lately and it's really great.

I take it some people didn't get the sarcasm in my previous post.

I'm not realy big on hip hop/rap, but I do really like Eminem. He does something right, I'm not sure what.

I get it now that it's not 5 in the morning.

He's awesome. Of course, he's not the best rapper. Common is amazing, the Roots rock my socks. OutKast kicks ass. Etc. ect.

My favorite is the Roots.

YouTube - The Roots - What They Do

Not their best song, but still great, and the music video is fantastic. That's one of the greatest music videos I've ever seen.
