Review and rate the last film you saw.

This is a thread for people to quickly review and rate the last movie they just saw. It can be something you just saw at the theater or a film you saw elsewhere.

I'll start with Eagle Eye. Just saw this one on Friday, the trailer looked pretty cool, and I'd have to say the movie didn't disappoint. There was non stop action and the plot kept me guessing. There are some things though that remind me of other movies I've seen from I-Robot to even Get Smart. I'd recommend anyone to see it and I give it an 8.9 out of 10.

I saw WALL-E this morning. I must say it's a wonderful film, I enjoyed it a lot. I'm not a good movie reviewer so I'll just rate it. 9.6/10

Re: Review and rate the last film you saw.

The last film I watched would be V for Vendetta. (Tv.) It was preety good of a movie. A man trying to get everyone free from a lying goverentment makes a good story.

Besides, when he blew up that one bulding in the beginning of the movie with music playing, and fireworks launching... EPIC WIN!

9.67/10

I also saw "Love Guru."

It had some...adult humor in it, but was great none the less.

Re: Review and rate the last film you saw.

I finished watching Meet The Spartans about half an hour ago. One of the worst films I have ever decided to watch. It is packed with unfunny jokes that failed to even make me laugh a tiny bit. 0/10.

Hah, what a coincidence, I just saw Eagle Eye on Sunday.

I, however, thought it was pretty bad.

The plot was largely nonsensical (I could think of half-a-dozen plots that _____ could've used that would've been significantly easier.) the characters were very generic, and the moderately interesting concept was handled poorly.

The following is significantly more in-depth, there isn't much too spoil, but if you don't like spoilers then don't read any further than this.

Right, so, first problem? ARIA can control everything that has any sort of computer in it, apparently. This goes so far as to let her ("it" is annoying to use.) apparently alter what's being broadcast on cable/satellite TV (Why is it that only one TV would show the altered broadcast, anyways? That doesn't work on any level.), control automated cranes with no access to the internet, and hijack remote-controlled missile drones, which are made to be as close to un-hackable as something can be made.

So why not just ram Airforce 1 or something? I know that apparently she couldn't put her original plan into action (though the reason given makes no actual sense from a computer-engineering standpoint.) but nothing was stopping ARIA from just creating a slightly different plan (or the same plan again) and killing everyone.

In addition, it was quite clear that ARIA felt she outranked the brother and didn't have to listen to his orders (speaking of which, I found his constant statements that she shouldn't exceed her programming to be oddly hilarious.) so why did she encrypt her plan so that only he could open it?

Also, why did the brother leave a hidden message in code? I mean, honestly, it was pretty clear that the AI didn't trust him anyways, and he knew that...

Oh, and being twins doesn't mean that your face, voice, and retinas will be close enough to your brother's to pass a biometrics test. Admittedly, such tests are quite error-prone now, but we're supposed to assume that ARIA is the most advanced computer ever built, so presumably she has decent biometric scanners, which wouldn't be fooled by that.

Let's see, what else...Right. How, exactly, did ARIA cause those power lines to break and the brother to be hit by a truck? Computers/electricity/traffic don't work that way.

Oh, and the movie clearly couldn't decide if it was an over-the-top action movie (see missile drone in traffic tunnel.) or a moderately creative thriller (see the first phone call.)

Now, I keep saying the idea was interesting, but then I tear into it, so what would I change?

Well, first off, it makes no sense to have ARIA capable of controlling everything with a computer. Computers don't work that way, to put it simply. Instead I would've made it so that she could see out of any networked camera and listen out of any cellphone (and maybe even see out of those cellphone's cameras.) Oh, and have her able to disrupt cellphone communication.

Then, have it open as it did (I quite liked the opening scene, actually) and have ARIA decide that something needs to be done.

However, she's not omnipotent anymore, so she has to be far more subtle. (The whole brother subplot could, I think, be dropped.) What she has to do is monitor people until she catches someone doing something that she can blackmail them over, then have her call them and coerce them into doing a small (and slightly illegal) thing for her in exchange for not telling anyone. She then uses the first thing plus the new crime to force them to do a bit more until eventually they pass the point of no return.

So now she has a large network of unwilling revolutionaries. (Also, during this time, she could contact people who empathized with her goals and got them to help so that she doesn't rely on blackmail for everything.)

She uses this network to carry out some plan or other.

Now, have the movie focus on one of these people whose been coerced into it figuring out what the plan is (she'd be a fool to tell people that they'd be doing mass murder or whatever, only telling each of them a small amount so that they'd have no idea what's going on.)

Now you've got all sorts of human drama as people who are willing to go to differing lengths to avoid their secrets being revealed all having to interact with each other and the protagonist(s) (Perhaps they figured out what's going on by comparing notes.)

Then have it go on from there.

Not a perfect idea, it needs lots of fleshing out and altering, but it would've been more believable and, I think, far more interesting than the silly movie we ended up with.

Oh, I must confess that I got quite a bit of humour out of the fact that ARIA is apparently GLaDOS's twin sister or something. They have the same voice, similar personalities, and ARIA even has one of GLaDOS's glowing-sphere-things. (Which is another nitpick, why does she need an eye? And why is it such a bad one.) I was really, really hoping for her to mention cake at one point or something, just as a nod from the writers/prop guys that yes, they knew who she was similar to, but no luck.

Saw REC. last night... which is pretty much the original version of Quarantine. Movie was scary as hell... Especially the ending.

I watched Priceless last night, which is a French romantic comedy with Audrey Tatou (spelling?).

I liked it. It was cute and fluffy and completely morally reprehensible and the dresses were fantastic. 7/10.

Re: Review and rate the last film you saw.

I saw Hard Candy with a couple friends the other night. It's a psychological thriller with no gore whatsoever (thankfully for me). For the first time ever, a thriller/horror film has actually scared me. To say the least, it's just ****ed up. It's only downfall would probably be that you can't really watch it more than once with the same effect as the first. I'd give it a 9.5 out of 10.

Re: Review and rate the last film you saw.

The last movie I recently watched was Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull.

It gets a 10/10 in my book.

The story was great! I love how well it was played out for the Cold War. Indy himself becomes entangled in the Red Scare. I loved the crystal skull stuff, and I enjoy myths like El Dorado. Mix that with Russians, nuclear bombs, the Rosswell incident and Area 51 (I'm a sucker for stuff like that), and you've got one heck of a movie! I loved it so much! The action was great too, and the classic Indy humor was there.

And best of all, it showed that there doesn't need to be a sex scene in order for a movie to be good! ^_^

I could go on forever on how awesome this movie is, but these are supposed to be short reviews.

To finish, let me just say that Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull was well done. It fit perfectly with the others in the series, and I very much hope more will come!

Re: Review and rate the last film you saw.

It was a Pokemon movie. Not sure which one, but it was one of them.

I adore Pokemon, and I'll admit it. I give the movie a 9/10, simply because I love the feeling of being brought back to my childhood. Besides, the graphics and whatnot weren't actually that bad. It was enjoyable. :3

Re: Review and rate the last film you saw.

Saw I Am Legend recently (a bit late, I know)

Definitely had it's good moments, and I'm a sucker for post-apocalyptic films/books, but there was something about it that... didn't quite gel, if you know what I mean. And the ending was poor, to say the least.

I thought it was pretty cool how they got Mike Patton (Faith No More, Mr. Bungle etc.) to do the "vocals" for the infected humans. That man can do some crazy **** with his voice.

Overall, I'd give it 6/10. Decent, but nothing special.

Re: Review and rate the last film you saw.

I saw the new Hulk movie staring Edward Norton. He did a good job overall playing the Hulk and it was a huge improvement over the last Hulk film. The addition of the Abomination was cool, I would give it a 4/5 and I mighteven end up buying it when the dvd price goes down.

Re: Review and rate the last film you saw.

The last movie I saw in theatres was the second live action movie for Death Note: Death Note II: The Last Name. In comparing it to the second half of the series, I definitely preffered the movie over it. The movie has a better plot and even though it leaves out the Yotsuba arc and Mello and Near, it was better mainly because of one thing: SPOILERS SPOILERS

L actually gets to live long enough to see Kira/Light die, which is so much better than the anime since Near gets all the credit there. >.>;

Re: Review and rate the last film you saw.

The last movie I saw was The City of Ember based off the book of the same name. It was interesting to see how Ember would be presented. It turns out to be like my idea of it. It's good but lacks adventure. I was also puzzled on why they decided to add giant animals never mentioned in the book. I give it 3 out of 5 stars.

Re: Review and rate the last film you saw.

Last night I watched Saw V in theaters. No I realise this is series is not on the top of alot of peoples lists. But I really enjoy the series. Anyways, I really did like the movie. Unlike the other movies,(can't really remember 4) it focused more how the Detective becomes Jigsaw and how he deals with keeping his identidy anonymous. It has less about the games unlike the previous films.

but Saw V main game is really interesting.

I was a tad disapointed in the ending. half way through the movie, I realised what the Lieutenant-Detective guy(im terrible with names) was trying to do, I thought. 'Hes going to have Special Agent Peter something arrested and framed for the recent Jigsaw game' I was hoping that the FBI agnet's boss was going to walk in on him torturing the Detective guy.

But I still liked the ending. I was right one part, but I suppose it was fairly obvious, the FBI agent that knows Jigsaw's new identidy would infact get his reputation destroyed.

Also I can't remember if it was revealed or not, but what was in the box? I suppose that is going to be at the center of Saw VI.

heh, i remember walking out of the theater and the people in front of me were wishing they could get a refund. Which on the walk home, I started thinking about how numb people are towards violence and stuff.

Maybe the reason I can enjoy the films better is because I can place myself in the characters shoes? How far would I be willing to go to save my life?

If you are a fan of the series, then I recommend it.

Re: Review and rate the last film you saw.

I wached a movie based on a Stephen King book called Cujo.
It's about a st bernard dog named Cujo with rabies who traps a woman and her little boy in a car. Waiting for them to come out so he can rip them apart.

It was a really good movie I'd give it 10/10.
In fact, I liked it so much, I named one of my dog's puppies Cujo.

Kill Bill Vol. 1

Simply... amazing. The camera angles, the music, the execution...

And I watched it in HD too. It's an amazing experience - heightens his camerawork. 10 out of 10.

Teenagers from Outer Space. Terrible film, but watching people getting instantly turned into classroom skeletons via the Disintegration Ray was at least fairly amusing.
