I finished the Great Gatsby a few weeks ago, but I always seem to hover back to it. The way Fitzgerald introduces Daisy, Tom and Jordan in the first chapter is simply a joy to read.
This might not count, but I started reading the illegally translated
Haruhi Suzimiya l
ight novels. And I absolutely love these books. Hell, if Nick Carraway was a Japanese teenager, he'd be Kyon, the narrator.
If you haven't heard of the series/anime before: Long story short, Haruhi is a highschool girl with ability to bend the universe to her will, though she does not know it. Along for the ride are an alien, a time traveler, an esper, and a quick-witted, cynical narrator.
Its fast and entertaining reading, and probably the only place you'll be able to find a baseball game where either you win or the universe is erased.
