Indeed, but it's also lazy writing.

They learnt that lesson last time, repeatedly even, yet here they are having forgotten it for no apparent reason.

Maybe it was because everything happened so long ago that they were prone to forget?

It could also show that humans aren't perfect, and constantly make mistakes.

Re: The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

I saw Prince Caspian opening night and loved it. I thought it was much better than LWW. Unlike other Book to Movie Adaptations they didn't really leave anything out, but added in loads. Watching the movie made me want to read the books.... again.

Also, To me the book focuses mostly on having faith and believing in somthing when that's not the easy (or at the time seem to be the right) thing to do. But that's just me. It differs from the first (or second) because everything seems to go wrong. Even Aslans own followers don't believe in him like they used to.

And just a random question. Was Liam Neeson Aslan in this movie? He sounded different if it was him.

I think, perhaps, it's just a plot hole.

The movie is epic, loved it, can't wait for the DVD, or blue ray!

Yes, Liam Neeson makes a comeback as voicing Aslan in Prince Caspian. Liam Neeson ftw.

Especially since he's played by a 20-something in the movie.
I'm pretty sure, though I haven't read the book in a while either. I may be wrong though.

to settle this, i went to Wikipedia, as i havent gotten far enough into the book to meet Caspian yet. Wiki says he's 13. so.... why is he 19, 20-ish in the movie? not that i mind--i happen to really like Ben Barnes. I suppose it just makes for a better movie, but whatever.

the article on Ben Barnes himself said this, "While many readers interpret Caspian as a child, a passage in the novel mentions his age to be near that of Peter's, so an older actor was sought to match William Moseley."

well, i guess that makes sense....

Again, indeed.

It serves a purpose, but the characters should drive the plot, not vice-versa.

Sum it up pretty well, I think.

oh, i definitely am gonna try again, except this time, i'm gonna try reading the books in the order in which they were written as opposed to chronological order. i dunno why i think that'll make a difference, but maybe it will.

anyway, im just getting into the goods of Prince Caspian and i'm liking it. havent explored Caspian's history yet, but the Dwarf will explain it in this next chapter that i'm about to read. one thing that i dont like about Lewis' style of writing is that he focuses solely on the Pevensies in his writing. he never jumps around to the other characters--he sticks with his main ones and thats it. Kinda bugs me; i like to see what's happening on other fronts.

Re: The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

Don't be so critical, it's a good movie regardless of the characters.
Anyways, movies are usually not close to the book.

Re: The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

I'm critical of most movies really.

And that's just it, no movie should be good despite the characters (not what you said, I know, but roughly what I was saying.)

I see what you mean.
I guess that's just how I am, anything with awesome effects and a good story-line (plus I haven't read the books) amazes me haha.
I'd be a horrible movie critic wouldn't I?

Re: The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian

I'd be so much worse.

Despite my pretentions, I'm actually have no idea what to look for to decide if a movie is good or not. I mean that literally, if I see a movie I like, it's rare for me to know why, same with one I dislike.

But every so often I will realize why, and then you get threads like this one.

Haha good point.
Well mostly I think all movies are good, unless they have a crappy story-line or they're all full of blood and gore every second.

i'm like that, too, so you are not alone. people put a lot of effort in their movies, regardless of what the final product looks like to us, and i appreciate every movie made. i may not like all movies, but i appreciate every movie. andpeople have to remember that once a producer/director/what-have-you gets the right to a book, they can make it however they want. generally, they do a good job, like in Prince Caspian. it's a good movie, but it doesnt follow the book to the letter. still get the same story and it ends the same way, just with variations.
