Doctor Who Discussion

I'm surprised no-ones all ready made a thread about this all ready, but what the Hell, that means I get to start one!

Discuss the old and new series here to your hearts content, and I'll post a few spoilers I found out from Doctor Who Magazine.

Series Three: Episode two is entitled The Shakespeare Code, and obviously features Shakespeare, episode four is entitled Daleks in Manhatten and is the first of a Dalek (!!!!) double-episode. And episode eleven will have the intruiging title of Utopia.

Re: Doctor Who Discussion

Huge, huge fan of the show.

As for the spoilers, I know a bit more in-depth regarding the third season's eleventh episode:

Utopia will feature the return of Captain Jack Harkness as coincides with the ending of the Torchwood finale (awesome bit).

I'm trying to wait patiently for season three, but as far as I know, the US isn't getting it until the summer. X_x

Re: Doctor Who Discussion

We Brits get it in the spring. Yay. Do you think that

the Face of Boe is a Timelord?

All of my friends do.

I couldn't watch Torchwood coz my parents wouldn't let me. It was so annoying. And then I missed The Sarah Jane Adventures.

I heared that David Tennant will keep playing the Doctor all the way through series three, and then regenerate halfway through series four. According to Russel T Davies, episode ten of the new series will include a very scary 'concept'.

Re: Doctor Who Discussion

In response to your second spoiler:

The rumor that David Tennant is leaving mid-fourth season was started by a tabloid and has been denied by BBC. Don't take it seriously.

I heard that the doctor can only regenerate fourteen times, and when he dies, his secret son will carry on the show (rumor in, the Sun tabloid)

Re: Doctor Who Discussion

Great fan! I love the show. I think that the flying Daleks didn't look quite right, but apart from that it was great. The Satan Pit may have been the best episode though from Series 2, and I love the new Cybermen. I also liked the final episode from Series 1. Great finale. I can't wait for the new series. That Dalek will be coming back I think, because of how he disappeared with that temporal shift. And the Cybermen should make a return in some form because they were great! I want the Abzorbaloff back though. That was such a funny episode, and Peter Kay does the part so well.

Well, that's what I think anyway...

^It's always spring, but no-one knows even which month.

In responce to Miniblin, I guess David Tennant will give up the role at the end of series three, then.

Did anyone watch The Sarah Jane Adventures? (bleah...my keyboard needs washing after typing such a cliché title) I missed it. Apparenlty, it had the biggest explosion in the history of Doctor Who...but I'm not sure.

I love Doctor Who! When I saw that final episode of 'Series 2' (but it's actually Series 12 or something like that) I cried SO MUCH. I think I like Rose so much because she's THE assistant of our generation... The first one, yes.

I can't wait for Series 3 either!! I will be SO GOOD. Robin Hood tried to be the replacement Doctor Who in Autumn, but... well, to be honest, I wasn't impressed. NOTHING can replace Doctor Who. NOTHING.

Not so sound idiotic, but how can I post spoilers so they need to be highlighted to be read? I haven't really got anything interesting to say, but I'd like to respond to some spoilers posted previously...

It's actually twelve times. But I think they'll find a way around it, after all, The Master did. Well, 'til he got killed by the Daleks in the mid-90s telemovie.

Counting all series, it's Series 28.

These rumours about Tennant leaving either after the end of Series 3 or halfway through Series 4 are not very likely. I've read several stories that say he's staying on. As Miniblin said, the BBC have denied these rumours. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6214425.stm

I've watched Torchwood on Youtube and it definitely is a great show, very different to Doctor Who, but still fantastic. And the last episode of that show's first series definitely has me looking forward to the Captain Jack episode in Series 3 on Doctor Who.

I'm not sure when Australia gets the next series of Doctor Who, but if it's like the last two, then it'll be mid year sometime. I also hope that Torchwood comes to Australian TV screens.

Re: Doctor Who Discussion

I wonder if the Doctor did have much more feelings for Rose than any others he had had in previous reincarnations... I mean, he said he wouldn't leave her like the others, and got very upset when he had to say goodbye for the last time...

I also can't decide which is my favourite Doctor of the last two series'; whether it's Christopher Ecclestone or David Tennant? I like Christopher though because he was quite hilarious in his relationship with Mickey Smith, but Tennant seemed more friendly...

Re: Doctor Who Discussion

In regards to Wyverns theory in the third post, it has been established that Timelords can regenerate into more alien looking forms. As demonstareted by fourth Doctor companion Romana. I am unsure if it extends to non-humniod forms. Here is some of the looks Romana tried out during her regenration

Hmm, I am a great fan Doctor Who.

Two days ago I bought a red nose for Comic Relief and such, and the chocolate inside was of David Tennant.

I seriously doubt he will. And I seriously hope he'll stay on for a while.

I really can't wait until Season 3, and I'm sure I'll go insane before it gets here. I was suspicious of Season 2 because it involved an entirely new Doctor- it just turns out that I instantly fell in love with Tennant, far moreso than Eccleston's character. So, I've got the utmost faith in their ability to cast characters on this show, and I'm really excited for Martha. A whole new companion! And then Jack! God. Does going crazy make time pass faster?

Re: Doctor Who Discussion

3 Weeks to go or something till series 3? Good stuff!

What were your opinions on Torchwood? I liked it alot, but what I didnt like was the way it tried to shove sex down the viewers throats and how they had to throw in some sort of gay kiss to show this is 'doctor who for grown ups' i thought it was uneccessary. But it was great none the less, and finale was great, cant wait to see how it ties iwth the new series.

Its confirmed the Master will be back, but i dont think the face of boe has anything to do with the Master, but i think he knows what REALLY happened to the timelords.

Daleks were all sorts of colours.

http://www.whoniverse.org/monsters/daleks.php :

Quote:
All the other ranks of Daleks have casings colour-coded to indicate their rank. Below the Emperor are the Gold Daleks, the generals of the Dalek race. Below the Gold Daleks are the Black Daleks - essentially field commanders, capable of considerable levels of independant thought. Below them are the red Daleks, able to think for themselves to a certain extent, the blue Daleks who serve as technicians and scientists, and the grey Daleks - the footsoldiers of the Dalek army.
I caught a squiz at David Tennant's video diary on youtube, has a bit of a preview on it too. For some reason it won't let me watch it now, something about location restrictions requested by the content producer (in this case the BBC). I just watched it yesterday...

In any case, look for "BBC One - David Tennant's Doctor Who Video Diary 1" on youtube and see if it works for you. It was pretty interesting, got a look at his new suit he wears and the preview did a good job of whetting the appetite.

Can't wait for Series 3.

It depends. Do you like going crazy?

I looked for Torchwood on Youtube but couldn't find episode one. Meh. And I would say series one is my favourite of the two-I really hope the Slitheen (or some other Raxicoricafallapatorian family) return. Although they probably won't.
