Oh really. I think you haven't even seen hardly any of the episodes. If you watch them all then you would know that they develop, like Vegeta becomes more emotional for his family, Piccolo starts to be a father figure towards Gohan, Goku gets more wiser and powerful, etc.......

I actually used to be the biggest DBZ fan back in the day.

It's all stuff you expected to happen from the beginning. Like with a sack of potatoes, you expect them to grow roots if they just sit around long enough.

And it just STRETCHED everything off. "Sagas" that were dozens of episodes should have only lasted 7 or 8. DBZ had a nasty habit of taking one thing and STRETCHING it across as many episodes as possible, being, again, like a sack of potatoes: Dull and boring.

Well not always. You can't tell me that you expected Vegeta and Bulma to get married, or Super Saiyen 3, or the destruction of King Kai's in the Cell Games, or when Majin Buu transformed into Kid Buu, etc........

But I always loved Dragon Ball (Z), but not GT or the movies, it is just one of those fun anime shows. But this is getting off subject.

I can see your point, but at the end it really pays off.

"Sarcastic," and "sarcasm" must be two of the most misused words on ZU.

Oh, and as for Dragonball Z, I have to agree with Capn Cornflake. I always thought of the characters as being a little bland and two dimensional - pretty boring really.

As for plot turns, I could transform into a lesbian tomorrow, but it wouldn't neccessarily change my character.

I read two manga's at my friend's house. It seemed to me to just be an excuse for the artist to draw the most gory, nonsensical things humanly possible. I guess that much blood is just unappealing to me.
A little while ago, I decided to give Inuyasha another chance. I watched two episodes on Adult Swim, and was sick afterwards. The voices are awful, the characters are generic and bland, the plot is all but absent, the Inuyasha love affair is that kind of love affair that's a dime a dozen ("Oh, I'm a man and so emotionless and badass that I can't bring myself to aknowledge that I love Kagome"), and the drawings were the standerd anime animation where the characters seem unable to move properly. It was all very poorly done in my opinion. Still, I hang out with anime fans who seem to insist on liking this anime for some reason or another. I've seen anime's that are very good (thinking of FullMetal Alchemist here), but the anime fans refuse to aknowledge their existance. I'm just glad it's popularity has died down.
Thank you. ya took the words right outa my mouth sweetcums. Inuyasha is at best a decent anime. It would have been better if they left out the school girl, it's a shame she's essential to the plot. Some things were just not meant to be juxtaposed.

Re: Why do people love Inuyasha so much?

Lord Ganon: It is absolutely inapropriate to call your friends "retarded" simply because you do not like a show that they like, no matter what.

Dragon Ball Z and its predecessors and decendants was a respectable anime, but it shoud not be compared with InuYasha. InuYasha is a romatic comedy. DBZ is a fighting/martial arts show. Their genres don't match.

"Little character development" - The only way that you would know that the series [InuYasha] has little character development is if you had actually watched a good portion of the shows.

Let me clarify character development. Character development occurs whenever the viewer understands more about the character's character - if they're good or bad or whatever. Therefore:

Every episode carries character development by the mere choices made by that character. Understanding why that particular character made that decision is up to the viewer, be it InuYasha, Trunks, Kagome, or Android 17.

What you probably dislike are "filler" episodes, which are ones that carry no difference to the bigger picture. (InuYasha vs. Naraku) Every "long" series has them.

If you really hate what I have described, watch .hack//Sign and its decendants and other "shorts" - short anime series, like FLCL.

Don't hate InuYasha for it's genre. It's just not right for you.

Re: Why do people love Inuyasha so much?

I agree whole-heartedly with Capn Cornflake. In DBZ there are only a few characters that change, and Goku is always just... Goku. I've seen the whole DBZ series... um... many times, and I did expect all those things you said Lord Ganon. It's repetative that way. Oh well, I try to ignore it, I still love DBZ. (And the streching of episodes, didn't really pay off in my opinion... they bugged the hell outta me! A battle would last a week!)

Lord Ganon> How old are these friends of yours? I really hope you don't judge all Inu fans on them. They're being immature because they can't handle the fact that someone doesn't like the same thing as them. At least I'm not going around calling people 'retards'... In fact, I'm the only fan I know of, everyone I know either never watched Inuyasha, or thinks it sucks ¬¬.

That's... not exactly true. He has deeper... way deeper reasons for not saying he loves Kagome... That's a huge part of Inu's character development. If I have to explain why, I will, but not right now... only if someone insists ¬¬.

There are a lot of fillers in Inu... they've also introduced character(s) (Ayame... the only one I know of) that aren't even in the manga, just to make some fillers. It's annoying, but it's common, so who cares.

Anyways, I'm gonna answer the original Why do people love Inuyasha so much? question by saying that it's a show for romantics and those who want a laugh. One reason why people may not like Inuyasha could be because they aren't interested in other people's love lifes. And another thing, don't say you hate Inuyasha if you've only seen a few episodes. I would have to say that about every show out there. It's easy to one day decide you wanna watch it and it's the worse episode that was made... Had to get that out there...

Ah but I like the romantic comedies. It's just that InuYasha drags on forever and never ends. And before you say anything I've seen up to episode 100 and it's all been the same boring stuff as before.

I neaver watched so I can't say much. From what people say about the series, it's the same reason people watched the DBZ series...

I'll admit it is repetative, it is a good anime to watch. I've really grown to like the show and its characters. Sometimes, character development can be overlooked,in my opinion.

Re: Why do people love Inuyasha so much?

milk wins. =P

Meh, Inuyasha. To be honest, at first, I really liked it. I watched the series all the time and (sadly) purchased the first 17 (AGH!) manga. I've since completely given up on it. I generally hate to leave things unfinished like that, but it just won't end and I've grown weary of keeping up with the monotony. It's not bad, per se, it's just... dragging on. I can't finish it. I've lost all will to do so.

There are other, better things I need to waste my time doing, anyways.

Re: Why do people love Inuyasha so much?

The anime was way to short IMO. I prefer to read the manga, but this one is getting too long and boring; there is always a new monster or demon that they have to beat in order to save a lil town (which are so many in the show and all of them are different that it makes me wonder if Japan is really the tiny island in form of a chili pepper at all) And Kagome is getting on my nerves. And ol Naraku doth not get tired of sending new offsprings to slay the dog and his friends. But it's all Rumiko Takahashi's doing and I really want to see how it ends.

For those who just judge Inuyasha by the anime, I recomend to give the manga a chance. You'll like it if you'd like Ranma without the gags.

Re: Why do people love Inuyasha so much?

At first when the show came on TV, I was excited. It was fun to watch, what can I say. Episode two was funny, when Kagome used the sit command for the first time. Episodes three and four were amazing. Sadistically Sweet. Then Sesshomaru appeared. I loved it.

But it kept going. There were no more episodes like three and four, and the humour became immensly overused. I got sick of it around halfway through season two. Then I found out that there were seven seasons where nothing changes. I gave up on it in dispair.

They don't even manage to kill Naraku in the series. They spend over six seasons hunting him down and they don't manage to kill him. That is pathetic...

Re: Why do people love Inuyasha so much?

Yep, that's true. The anime ends with Naraku alive and they continue without makeing anymore episodes. I actually watched the second movie last night, this is what I do when I get really bored and my cousin (who is a Inuyasha fan) nagged me to watch it. I guess my cousin thought I would turn from my Inuyasha hating ways. But anyways I thought at first when Inuyasha killed Naraku it was finished, but I knew it had to drag on somehow so Naraku faked his death (how ironic). I really thought that the creator was going to end it there but that proves that she wants to milk out the brand. But I can't believe that it has to continue, I thought it had to end somewhere. So Inuyasha fans, when does Inuyasha end? I am just curious.
