HOLY DIVER YOU'VE BEEN DOWN TOO LONG IN THE MIDNIGHT SEA
OH WHAT'S BECOMING OF ME
Dio needs his own thread. I shall give it to him.
I really love Dio, especially as someone who likes games and fantasy and roleplaying things. Many, many, many of his lyrics make you think of sword-and-sorcery realms, complete with dragons and castles and heroes. In fact, I like to pretend Sixteenth Century Greensleves (done while he was in Rainbow) is about Link!
It's nice to hear songs that aren't just about being angry, or in love, or whatever, and just have some cool adventure to rock out to.
And lets not forget his voice. His voice. I honestly think it's one of the most powerful and rich voices I've ever heard. It fits with his lyrics so well.
I do have to say that I like how he didn't sing to the music, rather let the music guide him. In better terms, he sang with the music, rather than the music laying the path that he has to follow.
Finally, Dio is probably rocking in the afterlife, too. He's probably the frontman alongside Dimebag Darrell, Randy Rhoads, Cliff Burton, and John Bonham.

Man it makes me really sad to think that he never got to finish Magica II & III the first one was great, seriously how can you not love this? Dio - Turn To Stone - YouTube
He was taken too soon, but may he live forever in our Memories.

yes. I saw Ozzy a couple years ago, all I could think was "oh man why couldn't Ozzy be the dead one? He's clearly given all he's going to give to metal."
but anyway before I get into a full-on tirade here, let me talk about Dio.
Dio is completely awesome. WHEEEEN THERE'S LIGHTNING Honestly, I've only really spent a lot of time with Holy Diver, Magica, and his work with Elf, YOU KNOW IT ALWAYS BRINGS ME DOOOWWWN but I loved all that. Guy had a lot to offer heavy metal and rock'n'roll.
