Green Lantern: The Animated Series Let me first start off by saying I'm not a Green Lantern fan. I don't dislike it though, but I'm not too familiar with the mythos. I was first introduced to GL through the Justice League cartoon, and later read Green Lantern Secret Origin along with the story where Hal becomes Parallax or something. Other than that, not that into him. Never saw the movie, so I can't say anything regarding that.
When I heard that there was going to be a GL series on Cartoon Network, and in CG, I rolled my eyes. I've never been a fan of CG TV series and the promotional art looked rather grating to me, though it mostly has to do with me being a purist on traditional animation. Heck the designs look like they belong in traditional animation. The only reason why I even bothered to watch this one was because Bruce Timm, the mastermind of the DCAU, was making this one. So I checked it out, and much to my surprise, I was hooked.
While the CG characters look a little blocky and can get jarring at times, the animation is slick, and the action is great. The story is also great and epic, and you can't expect any less from Timm. Season finale thjis week will be epic |
