Last night, I "wrote" a story named 'The Tell-Tale Heart' by Poe of course. I got accused of plagiarism, and I could agree, since I just changed the characters and place to make it pony style. I did credit the author in the description, saying the story was from him. (Poe).

Anyways, I wasn't aware of the seriousness of the matter, since I thought this wouldn't be considered as plagiarism, since I credited the author, bad thing if I didn't. I read in the submission rules that one must at least provide permission from the author if they want to use his story or part of it in your fic, but the man's been dead for over 150 years. The least I could do was to credit him as the author of the story (which I did).

Then several hours ago, I deleted my fic because I agreed it was sorta a copypasta of his story, and changing characters and settings wouldn't be any different. So I deleted my story and thus, my mistake. But some while after that, I got banned, so I asked Poultron (site mod) about the matter, (and you could tell, it didn't go well).

I told him that the story shouldn't have been approved in the first place if it was againts the rules. Now, Wlah (another side mod) was the one who approved it, but he claimed he didn't actually read it, so he just accepted it unaware that it was againts the rules. Now, I won't argue about that, if that's how they approve fics, then it's ok.

Anyways, he (Poultron) told me I did plagiarised, and that's it. Hello, Goodbye and permanent ban. I wasn't aware of the seriousness of the matter, nor I knew it would be againts the rules to "steal" work like that. Sure, it would be logical that the work could be consider stolen if you claimed it was yours, but in this case, and I repeat ,was not. I never claimed the story was an original creation of mine. I clearly said it was Poe's work ponified. I didn't mean to break the rules, and I thought if I ever did I'd at least get an infraction, warning or at much a temporal ban, not a first offense permanent ban.

So I guess that's it... a bit troublesome.
I talked with Xaquseg (another mod) and he agreed that it wasn't plagiarism since Poe's work is on the public domain now, and I credited him as the author, so he was kind enough to lift my ban. But he told me he was going to discuss it with the staff and that I shouldn't worry much about it.

Well, that's my story. I will now have to wait and see how things turn out.

Seriously? The mod who was supposed to review it didn't even read it? He couldn't even skim it? *Facehoof*

At least one of those mods is slightly intelligent.

Apparently Blizzard also hates pre-G4 ponies, guess what's the new version of "The Secret Cow Level" in Diablo III? That's right, "Whimsyshire, Where Dreams Come True".

EDIT: Fun fact: This isn't an actual pony shotout, since is more trolling by Blizzard to the guys that were whining about the game being "too colorful" in the early build back when it was announced, which happened before FiM aired, still a funny coincidence.

Completely ignoring FiM and everything related, I simply love Blizzard for this.

I still can't believe those guys whining about the game being too colorful, I remember when they released a screenshot with a rainbow by a waterfall, some fans were absolutely outraged, it was ridiculous. Then those fans would send Blizzard some "improved" screenshots that were absolutely horrible where everything looked the same.
