Changelings have been around for the entire series.
They've just been mimicking normal ponies the entire time, and done nothing to draw attention to themselves. Any of the background ponies could be changelings.

What makes it even worse is that now they were all sent flying in random directions, so their defeat is not actually that detrimental for them: they can just blend in and feast on ponies in Equestria infinitely since there's no way to track down that many.
Also that totally explains the uncanny amount of Bon Bons.

Was on full Derpy alert, got nothing.

So, without reading most of the posts because spoilers and I haven't seen the episode yet...

Apparently that Australian MLP:FiM DVD set that's coming out? The first disc comes with a box, as with most collections.

It's officially called "the Brony Box". That's its name. Like, on the packaging. EQD says it's actually specifically targeted at OUR demographic, not the original.

Awesome.

Just watched it. Was good, maybe not all it was hyped up to be, but certainly not disappointing.

Things I liked/lol'd at

- Rarity's reactions throughout the entirety of the episodes, with the initial wedding announcement being the best, not 2 minutes in and Rarity is best pony.

-The banjo diddy playing as Applejack and Twilight checked things off.

-Fluttershy's offkey bird.

-Basically everything Pinkie did, sneezing confetti, squeaking battle sound effect (especially when it sped up the cycle) Twilight Gatling Gun.

-Changling appearance was pretty sweet, with the battle with the Mane 6 being funny and awesome. I though when Cadence warped Twilight to the caves that it was going all Lovecraftian and was like 'Yeah, this isn't for little girls.'

-The background music in most of the episode was fantastic especially the music playing when Shining and Cadence combine powers at like 35:30 in the xyro vid.

Things I disliked/made me cringe

-Shining Armor and his voice....guhhhh

-Cadence being so obviously evil from the get go, lack of subltety in an otherwise well written episode was like :/

-The actual songs. Not one of them did anything for me.

-....Luna just kinda being like 'Sup ♥♥♥♥♥es' at the end, this was a good opportunity to see her character prominently again.

Lots of material for pony art, comics, fanfics, and music though. It may be possible to survive the break.

seriously though,first part: a great song within the first three minutes, a plot that roped me in from the second, and the se3cond part was pure awesomeness. the "Priori Incantatem" (for those Harry Potter buffs *cough* Fluttershy... with Celestia and the Changeling Queen was great, the caves were awesome, and I loved it when Twilight;s horn got all "crazy arc welder on steroids" blasting crystals. i can't even form full sentences right now, I re watched it again and im still giddy. after that Im ready for the break, time to break out the old episodes! but in all seriousness, the show staff really outdid themselves with this finale, I can only hope that the Season 3 premiere will be as good! ok, ok, lemme try to stop flipping out from the pony epicness overload..... nah, didn't work. anyway, that about sums up whats going on around here.

And PS;I was wondering about why it was considered a victory that all the monsters were scattered all throughout the country, but apparently, out of sight, out of mind.

Yeah, this episode was freakin' awesome. From the changlings to me making some horrible puns while I was watching. To the unawareness of the ponies around TS, and even the fact that it was able to keep my sister's attention. I was a bit disappointed they didn't destroy the castle. I actually wanted that to happen. I was desperately waiting for that Sonic Rainboom, and it was definitely pleasing to see that. So, overall, a satisfactory episode, and without a doubt, one of my favorites.

Right near the end when the song and dance is going, I thought "I haven't seen Derpy this episode." Like clockwork, I suddenly spotted her on the left side of the screen in a crowd of ponies. So yes, Derpy was there.

WELL WHAT THE HECK IS WRONG WITH THIS EPISODE

[SIZE=2]This was seriously awesome on SO MANY LEVELS and in SO MANY DIFFERENT WAYS.

I was able to watch this in a [I]completely [/I]spoiler-less way, so everything was a complete surprise for me (Except for Pinkie using Twilight as a machine gun because [I]somepony [/I]posted it here without spoiler tags, thanks a lot!) [/SIZE][SIZE=2]If I had any expectations for this episode, they said WELL ♥♥♥♥ THEM really early, I wasn't expecting any sort of villain with how the whole thing was being advertised, and definitely not any sort of chaotic army of evil minions fighting the main ponies hoof to hoof. [/SIZE]

You can notice right away how much they improved the animation quality for these ones, seriously, right after marathoning season 2 from episode 14 onward in 720p, I had to watch this in 480 because it lagged my PC for some reason, and what the heck, the whole thing looked and "flowed" together a lot better than every other episode I had seen so far even in worse quality.

Also, for anybody complaining about how overpowered love was in the end... Well, it's not really, I really can't see a way to see it other than the whole love thing powering up Shining Armor's giant bubble shield spell thing so it repelled the enemies, and that's all it did, it didn't kill the changelings, or turn them into stone, or send them to the moon, it just repelled them from Canterlot, wich is not much different from what the giant bubble shield spell thing was doing in the first place.

I really think this was the [I]perfect [/I]way to end the season, and I totally couldn't have hoped for something better.

John de Lancie again admitted that he's done voice work for a future episode. He doesn't know when it will turn up or when we'll see it, but he's coming back as Discord in what is apparently 'a major story piece', so not just flashbacks.

This is the best day.

I LOVED THIS EPISODE.

Everything about it. Oh my god. They made a plot that I was suspicious about into a truly awesome finale. I am filled with loads of happy right now.

I like how the ponies' battle with the changelings reminded me of The Powerpuff Girls' battles with enemies.

This is officially the greatest show on Earth.

So I just had a thought about some possibly intentional, possibly unintentional...irony, I guess?

Princess Celestia was originally going to be a queen, in Faust's first drafts, but Hasbro changed her into a princess because Disney movies had associated queens as being evil while princesses were good and pure.

So, the first character in the series to be called a 'queen'...
