Though it "disexplains" a lot of things.

Didn't they specifically mention they needed every element of harmony to defeat Discord? Not only that, but they had to be superultraclose friends and all that? If there's an element of love, it should have been there on that moment, or Discord would still be wandering around (not that I'd be against that )

Technically only the ones that Luna and Celestia used are needed, which are the 6 friendship ones (this of course assuming the people that were charged with this didn't decide to just drop some silly head-canon on us). Maybe that's why he is turned into stone instead of being vaporized like the villain in G1 did? (not that I wish the almighty god of trolling that fate, just saying).

Don't worry, Mega Pony doesn't actually shoot lasers, he's trying to win the mane six's friendship by offering them lemons. They explode in happiness when the friendship is acquired, and are teleported safely back to canterlot castle.

And yes, Discord's robots are weak to lemons.

If you think it makes more sense, you can replace the "lemons" for "concentrated friendship power" but that's not as awesome.
