Stars Wars is overrated and in general a piece of ♥♥♥♥

STAR WARS IS NOT ABOUT SPACE BATTLES OR LIGHTSABER FIGHTS KIDS THESE DAYS I SWEAR.

I love Star Wars films, purely for how camp the whole thing is. And also, as I've got older and immatured I've realized, there are literally thousands of innuendos in Star Wars films. I also like George Lucas' taste in women and the starships look cool.

Still don't fully understand how the ships make noise in space though, Science must be different in a galaxy far, far away.

I never watched it because I thought the movies looked boring.

Episode 1 is the better film and here's why:

I only really like III for the intense violence (or at least more intende than the others). I thought it was really sad when he killed the children.

Star Wars is the Hero's Journey RECYCLED IN SPACE! Its a great story with twists and turns and loveable characters.

Now, im gonna say it: I despise the prequels. The Phantom Menace was fun and ok but still not a good movie. The other two are just...really bad. Ugh...I was expecting more from Anakin's story and i got bull♥♥♥♥. I was very upset. Oh well.

The originals (Luke's arch) were so much fun and so good. These films made 30 some odd years ago, still hold up today. (and dontchu be hatin' on Return Of The Jedi! D:<) Good special effects for the time, and just a lot of fun to watch! Star Wars doesnt have to be deep. We got great characters like Lando, Han, Leia, Luke, Obi Wan, Vader, Yoda, etc. Its good times! Im not a huge Star Wars fan but those first three movies have a very special place in my heart.

They still hold up pretty well today. Miniatures and models still look real on camera and don't age nearly as fast as CGI.

Star Wars, the originals and the prequels, are what emotionally got me through High School. so....no it doesn't suck, and it's not ♥♥♥♥.

I saw all six when I was really young; I was probably around 13 when I saw RotS.
That being said, I never really noticed the bad acting (in the prequels) or how ridiculous Ewoks > Stormtroopers really was.

Recently, I rewatched the prequels for the first time in years. All I can say is HAHAHAHA! I never noticed how bad the acting really is. Don't get me wrong, I still love the movies, but during Episode II, my sisters and I would just relentlessly torture Anakin/Hayden Christensen on his "acting."
The originals trump all.
So do Ewok Adventures: Caravan of Courage and The Battle for Endor.

Coming from a "real movie" fan I do think the Star Wars movies are overrated, but saying something is "overrated" isn't really a case of calling something "bad."

The prequels are certainly terrible and I'd rank the entire film series like this...

Episode 2 is definitely the worst of all the movies and one of my most hated movies of all time.

Regardless the original movies are worth watching for any movie fan just for the fact that they've been so influential to film itself. The fact that it reiterates some ideas from old ideas paying homage gives it a very nostalgic feel and brings it familiar to both old people and new viewers.

I think we can all agree that the best visual media to come out of the Star Wars franchise since Return of the Jedi is the 2003 Clone Wars animated series. ♥♥♥♥, those were so cool. I bet if the prequels were told 5 minute cartoon episodes they'd have been so cool. The time constraint cut out all unnecessary dialog and left us with raw, kick-ass star wars action.

Also, best depiction of the Republic Clones.

Although the CGI Star Wars series has actually improved A LOT honestly it's now up to par with the 03 series.

The art style rocked too

Starwars is one of the only movies I can come back to and watch over and over again,, never gets old.

I don't think Star Wars is overrated at all.

I actually happen to like all released episodes, as well, despite what everyone thinks of them. I find that each has a piece of the story. My personal favorite is ROTS. Used to be a huge star wars fan back in the day.

...that being said, I am a Star Trek convert. lol. I much prefer Star Trek any day other Star Wars. Star Trek 2009 happens to be my favorite movie of all time

I love Star Wars. George Lucas is a god. Star Wars is the most amazing sci-fi related franchise aside from Doctor Who. (jk about the god part)

Well, almost anyone who enjoys Star Wars disowns Episodes I - III.

Not saying that's excusing the poor films, but if you go that route the series as a whole becomes much better.



Also, in the 1970s, acting was pretty shoddy as a whole, and starships and laser guns and laser swords and badass black body armor and WHOOOO ♥♥♥♥ YEAH STAR WARS!

They're fun because they're corny and ridiculous and they manage to combine that with some of the coolest telepathic ninja space pilots: the Jedi/Sith.

Part of me cant get past the horrible dialogue.
George Lucas really cant write a script to save his life.

However they're fun movies, but nothing mind blowing.

I thiiink it's only really easy to appreciate the impact these films had on pop culture if you had seen them on initial release, or they were shown to you when you were too young to be overly picky about plot, acting and dialogue.

I personally prefer thrillers when it comes to sci fi, so Star Wars was never my cup of tea. I do think it's silly to dismiss the franchise for not being up to par with modern standards of storytelling; they were originally made some decades ago and are fairly timeless as far as entertainment value goes.

I liked some of it when i was a kid but now, there is no way i could sit through that tripe. I honestly can't remember why i liked it as a kid either, most likely because my brothers liked it.

If people like it though that's fine it's all just opinion at the end of the day!
