Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire)

The epic fantasy novel series, A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin, is being made into a tv series!

The series will debut on April 17, 2011. In the UK, the series will debut on Sky Atlantic on April 18, 2011.

"In a land where summers an last decades and winters a lifetime, trouble is brewing. The cold is returning, and in the frozen wastes of the north of Winterfell, sinister and supernatural forces are massing beyond the kingdom's protective Wall. At the center of the conflict lie the Starks of Winterfell, a family ad harsh and unyielding as the land they were born to. Sweeping from a land of brutal cold to a distant summertime kingdom of epicurean plenty, here is a tale of lords and ladies, soldiers and sorcerers, assassins and bastards, who come together in a time of grim omens. Amid plots and counterplots, tragedy and betrayal, victory and terror, the fate of the Starks, their allies, and their enemies hand perilously in the balance as each endeavors to win that deadliest of conflicts: the game of thrones."

Winter is coming.

Re: Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire)

I am a huge fan of the books, and have been watching the prodution of this since it was first announced. I am like so very excited i can't even explain. As far as I can tell the casting has been amazing (Save the Direwolves being dogs, but that can't be helped) and most everything looks as I imagined it, or close enough I can have no complaint.

but I want to get it just for this.

I knew there had to be someone here as well^^
I absolutely agree with the casting. I'm really looking forward to seing the different characters in action. Can't go wrong with Sean Bean either
As for the dire wolves, I haven't seen that much to them yet.

I'm excited about Winterfell and the Wall as well.

Re: Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire)

I've just gotten to see the first episode in all its glory. This looks very promising indeed.

My girlfriend finished the first book recently, so she pointed out a few differences that I didn't remember, but she loved it as well. Sean Bean is excellent as Eddard Stark, I'm looking forward to watching more

The opening was pretty neat as well.

Re: Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire)

Second episode was great, third episode was the first one where it ended and I felt unsatisfied.

But I'll keep watching. I mean, what other shows have a dwarf smacking the **** out of some prissy little Princeling?

Ah, yes. Princeling smacking

I've seen the third episode as well now, and I'm truly looking forward to the next one. Finally an epic, well-made fantasy series.

Here's the intro:

I made a social group relating to a Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones a while ago, by the way.

That dude getting lanced in the throat was the most graphic thing I've seen on television all year. that long lingering shot was equal parts awesome and gross.

The blood wasn't what was so graphic, imo. It was the sound.

It's about time that prick (who reminds me of Malfoy) learned his place. He's a character you love to hate.

Indeed. He reminds me of Malfoy as well.
It's interesting to see the changes in Daenerys

Instead of just being tossed around like a piece of meat, she's actually taking advantage of her situation.

He's a total prick. And so whiney and prissy. Seems to be a common trait in most of the villainous characters...although at this point it is still hard to say who is a bad guy and who is a good guy...except John Snow who is very obviously a white hat despite the dark clothes.

Re: Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire)

It's nothing groundbreaking but it's wildly entertaining. Kind of like true blood, lots of very stylish sex and violence with some pretty engaging characters and stories.

Couldn't tell you a thing about the backstory though. Last episode was almost all exposition and I still don't understand the history of the world.

Also, lots of creepy incest in this show.

I'm actually holding out for one of the two future lords to lose that. I don't want to know what happens, either >_<'.

I would recommend it.

Yes. I wasn't expecting a sex scene. I was watching it with my mother in my living room. >_>'

Yes. Run.

It's based on an excellent fantasy series. It's not that often fantasy series get made into things of such quality.
