Not only that, but the popularity is a combination of the tv show (duh) and the devoted fans whom have been waiting for the fifth book for quite some time.

Considering it's been mentioned in the show, I think I'm allowed to say this now because it isn't a spoiler. In the books, it's been known that it was Cersei that gave the orders to kill Roberts Bastards, and it didn't happen suddenly like it did this episode (so I think readers found this as a surprise to see this happen), it's something she's been working on even before the series started considering Robert has been bastardizing children for years.

Oh, and I don't think it's just Cersei's fault Jofrey is the way he turned out to be, I also blame Robert as well. The only good things I can say about Robert is that he's a great friend, and was a great warrior. That's it. He was a horrible father and husband. He's a womanizing drunk. And this is what Joffrey grew up living with. Robert taught him that a king can do anything while Cersei taught him that money can pay for anything.

Long Live Tyrion and Arya!

PS: I love it when Joffrey gets slapped haha
Heh, yeah but she still has to live with the fact that Joffrey is a monster and she helped create it. Also the beautiful irony...Viserys was mad due to the incest of the Targaryens. Joffrey is mad due to the incest of the Lannisters. So beautiful...

I really like the show, haven't read the books though.

My favourite characters are Jon snow, Sansa and peter dinklage's charcter, I don't know how to spell it.

The first season was great, I am going to start watching the second as soon as possible

Re: Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire)

Last night's episode was officially titled "The Night Lands," but should have been titled "The Problem with Penises."

You have the show open with Arya doing her level best to hide the fact that she doesn't have one, which would certainly cause some problems if anyone other than Gendry were to find out (also, how awesome was it when Gendry realized that Arya is a noblewoman?).

You have Davos making a deal with a pirate predicated on the condition that the pirate is able to then "stick it" to the Queen (though not in a non-consensual fashion, mind). Then you have his Lord Stannis have his level-headedness tampered with when tempted too much to think with his little brain.

You have Theon, who out of all the characters is likely the one most ruled by his penis, getting good and squicky with his sister before realizing that maybe one doesn't need a penis to be a leader. Also, great scene on the Iron Isle, the whole bit with the "iron price" was awesome.

You've got that awkward peeping tom scene with Littlefinger. I dunno what that was all about, but that guy's a dick.

The other Khal's are not happy that Dany doesn't have a penis!

"I’m not questioning your honor, Lord Janos. I’m denying its existence." ♥♥♥♥ YEAH TYRION this has nothing to do with penises but was still awesome.

Finally, that Wilding King guy is taking all the babies with penises out to the woods and feeding(??) them to the blue-eyed creepy monsters. THAT'S CRAZY.

I used the word (or a variation on) 'penis' eight times in this post. Nine times.

Re: Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire)

I loved the part where Gendry realizes Arya's a noblewoman. It was perhaps one of the best scenes so far. I also really liked the scene where they were discussing how to define a battle. Then of course the Nights Watch guy threatening the that Gold Cloaks guy. So far I really am enjoying the Arya storyline.

I also enjoyed Sala... uh... Pirate Guy. You didn't get to see much of him in the books. But I really want to see more of him in the show.

Speaking of Stannis... doesn't he have a daughter? I don't remember them ever mentioning her at all. But then I just want to see that fool of hers. I always liked him.

As for Theon. I remembered that scene in the book and I was wondering if they'd even show it. But then i remembered Craster and... well of course Jaimie and Cersei. The whole horseback ride was both very awkward and very entertaining because I remembered.

Though I felt sorry for Theon. I mean I get that the people from the Iron Islands are supposed to be tough and strong but... it just sorta sucks for him that no one showed up or even cared that he returned home. The Iron Price bit was great. Also the whole 'Who said anything about the Lannisters?' ... yeah.

Tyrion of course is of course amazing.

But yeah. What was with that peeping business? I mean one guy is ♥♥♥♥ing some girl, and another guy is watching while getting a blow job, and then there is Littlefinger watching him watch that guy. It was very... odd.

Sort of annoyed that Dany's storyline hasn't done much so far. I didn't like her storyline much in this book to begin with. Will we ever see her return to Westros? All that talk about thousands of dothraki screamers taking on Westeros had me all pumped.

OK for someone who has read the book. The ending of the episode where Jon was caught ... did that happen? I for the life of me cannot remember.

They're going to be as big as horses by the time they reach full size. That's going to be interesting to see!

I don't think so, no...I don't think we ever actually saw the babies being taken by the White Watchers in the book. We were just told it happened.

Is anyone else bothered by Asha's name change to "Yara?" I know they did it because they didn't want the audience to confuse her with Osha - but fixing the issue by changing it to something that sounds very similar to Arya? Really?

See that's what I thought happened too. I only remember being told what happened to the boys. Now I am even more interested in Jon's Storyline.

Oh thank god. I thought I was pronouncing Asha wrong this whole time. When I first heard Theon say her name I was like "what the hell?' I was going to google to see if they had changed it... but I never got around to it.

I get why they changed the name... but it sorta defeats the purpose if the new name sounds similar to another characters.

I know right? I wonder about the author and his Freudian mindset sometimes. This episode definitely illustrates issues with manhood. Tyrion is the only one with a dick large enough that its such a non-issue.

Am i the only one who was glad Theon was pretty much put in his place? Guys a wing-wong. I do not like him one bit.

There's a certain lesson one should learn about this series...whenever the best laid plans of mice and men are told on screen, they always go awry.

Personally, I can't wait to see dragons burning up Others/White Walkers.

Re: Game of Thrones (A Song of Ice and Fire)

I finished the whole season 1 2-3 days ago and I have to say it's better than Spartacus.
Now, I'm going to need to read the book about it too. My favorite characters are Jon Snow, Ghost, Tyrion Lannister and Ned Stark. Arya Stark kinda reminds me of X-23 for some reason.

Btw, are the Starks the main protagonists of this show/book?

Yes, that is also my prediction: (Major Spoilers/ Book 6 Prediction ahead) I predict that the white walkers will invade Westeros, the war will quickly stop (considering everybody will have a common enemy now), and Danny will come in flying with her three dragons to lay waste to the walkers. That would be a great reminder as to the purpose of keeping dragons around (and Danny wins back the throne by the 7th and last book)

Yes. But occasionally you'll get the prospective from other characters outside of the Stark family.

Massive spoilers for the future.
I really don't want to see the White Walkers defeated too easily. But with three dragons it feels like the battle is already over. I mean I understand that the most likely thing is that they will be defeated it's just I really want to enjoy seeing the White Walkers completely destroy whats left of Westros. I mean that place is just ripe for the picking by the end of ADWD. The North is a complete mess with dead bodies littered everywhere, south of the Neck is also full of burned villages and the dead. Aegon will only make things worse because he is probably bringing war to an area of Westeros that hasn't been hit too hard previously.

So I am hoping that either the Others have some sort of defense against the dragons so they arn't completely screwed. That or it takes awhile before they recieve word and able to move against them. Enough time to see the White Walker's army in full below the Wall.

It also gives a nice reason for Tyrion to be near where Daenerys is or was. He is probably the only one who would believe the news of whats happening. Or something.

So not reading that, Unit7. I totally didnt read the books but i did look up SOME spoilery crap and kinda wish i didnt. But you know, there was just one thing i had to know...
If we see another Targaryen... So yeah.

Quote:

Sorta. They are POV characters but guys like Tyrion, Stannis, and other characters have POV chapter/episodes/segments too. My brother actually explained to me how things roll in this series. (since he read the books) One was:
Quote:
There's a certain lesson one should learn about this series...whenever the best laid plans of mice and men are told on screen, they always go awry.
That.
The other was:
ANYONE CAN DIE. Meaning there is no real "Golden Calf" character or protagonist. So dont get TOO attached to anyone and just try to follow the overall story cuz its damn interesting.

I got attached to Viserys but he was too much of a dick to live. So im trying not to get too attached to anyone. I do admit im very attached to Tyrion and Arya Stark though. So far, seems im in the clear with those two! According to some...spoiler stuff.

About that spoiler bit...

Hmm. I wouldn't say that was actually a big spoiler. It seems like it should be and for me it did come out of nowhere when I first read it
until I considered a few of the storylines and the manner of how he was supposedly killed. Wow I am being a bit paranoid. I almost give nothing away and yet I still feel the need to hide this in spoiler tags

Also you really should read the books. They are fantastic. But the series has done a great job of staying faithful so I wouldn't say you are missing out on much. Except a good read of course. But I bet you get this from just about everyone who has read the books.

Well I guess there are two things in the first book that should have made it into the tv show. Bran's dream during his Coma and a promise Ned made with his sister about something.

But yeah. Don't get to attatched to anyone. They will probably end up dead or... worse.
