I feel you but i like more instrumental bands. Also bands with a huge progressive influence.

You know Tosin was on board with Born of Osiris at the beginning?

Have you heard their new album? Their self titled debut didn't sound metal but their new album definitely fits the bill imo

Two classic bands that I've been listening to today.

Severed survival is easily one of my favorite albums of all time. Really brutal for it's time.

I haven't finished listening to the record yet (I'm easily sidetracked), but so far it's one of the most brutal things I've listened to- period.

Well to start out you might check out traditional heavy metal and NWOBHM like black sabbath, zeppelin, iron maiden, deep purple, judas priest etc.

Re: Pretty effin metal in here, eh? - Official Metal/Punk Thread

Cover art looks awesome, songs pretty enjoyable I guess its just that Tech Death hasn't really grew on me yet asides for few bands (namely stuff like Iniquity, late Monstrosity,Xenomorph(US) etc.)

Oh, and Element are pretty cool modern if bit "wanky" at times Tech Death Metal band

Re: Pretty effin metal in here, eh? - Official Metal/Punk Thread

I've usually enjoyed Spawn of Possession because they retain some semblance of songwriting, unlike most tech death. However, this sounds a bit more wanky and core-influenced from their other stuff. It's not terrible but even next to something like Necrophagist, it sounds kind of directionless. Then again, at least it has a few actual riffs.

Re: Pretty effin metal in here, eh? - Official Metal/Punk Thread

don't like that as much as their older stuff, seems more wanky to me. That being said, I really don't have a problem with it, I think it's cool... I do acknowledge that it feels less musical than their other stuff though.

here's something a little different.

The Fall of Troy kind of got a more generic, overproduced sound late in their career, but their early stuff is pretty great.

I still prefer Metallica. And some others too, but my priority is still one.

Re: Pretty effin metal in here, eh? - Official Metal/Punk Thread

I don't care about that. Apart from Metallica, I listen to Rammstein and E.S. Posthumus (though E.S. Posthumus is not exactly metal).

---------- Post added at 08:14 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:14 PM ----------

Also, Iron Maiden.

Re: Pretty effin metal in here, eh? - Official Metal/Punk Thread

so why not overkill, saxon, exodus, pagan altar to name bands from both movements. Ive never understood why people just grab metallica and iron maiden.
