[Comic] Comics Chit-Chat Thread: Wednesday is New Comic Book Day!

I don't know, never looked into it because I don't have anything that uses apps. I think the app it's self is free, but you have to pay for the content. Though in that case I'd imagine theyd have some free content too.

So I dno't know why I never have before, but I'm going to post the youtube video from Stadium comics, which I go to for all my comic needs (okay, a lot of my comic needs...not all). Each week they go through all hte comics going on sale and talk a bit about them. There are also contests, and I highly recomend checking it out if you want to keep up on comics.




Batman inc. #1 was pretty good. Glad Morrison is off action comics.

Mark Millar will be at our local mall tomorrow.
Makes me want to buy a legit copy of graphic novels and make him sign it.

My friend told me that there's a new Batman comic where all the Robins duke it out.

Is it New 52's Battle for the Cowl? o_O

There's no battle for the cowl in the new 52...

I don't know what it's about yet, it hasn't come out. But I think I know the one he's talking about from seeing the cover.

I need to look for it. It's gonna be interesting. I feel embarrassed and said that it was old and it's called Battle for the Cowl.

Anyways, here's what I think about the Robins, which are just my opinions:
Dick Grayson - the complete package. brains and fighting skills
Jason Todd - he strikes me as a "think-with-your-feet" type.
Tim Drake - the smartest Robin imo. he's not as good as Dick and Jason when it comes to fighting though.
Damien Wayne - feisty little egotistical brat. he could be the next prodigal son in the Batman family.

So Batman issue 10 came out today and is the first part of the conclusion to Night of the Owls. I have to say, part of it was just too cliche, but overall it had a good twist and was a pretty intense issue.

Haven't read anything else from this week yet, may be back with more news.


EDIT: Okay, so I just finished B&R #10. It's the first part of that War of the Robins story. What it turns out it actually is is Damian trying to prove him self. He still feels insecure and thinks that the others don't respect him. So he calls all the previous robins together (save for Stephanie Brown) and tells them that he's going to beat them all at something they think they can't be beat at. There's some other stuff too about a group of bad guys who have all be maimed or disfigured in some way by Batman, by that part seems kind of weak...one guy had a batarang through his head (which apparently wasn't actually batman's fault. They guy threw it and it came back and hit him), and another guy got kicked in the face and somehow perminately has a shoe print on his face...

Sounds like Damien indeed. lol.
Well, Tim already handed his ass to him in BftC but let's see on this New 52.
Damien has potential to be better than the other Robins though. He's been training ever since he was born.

Anyways, I was watching Young Justice and I have to say it's one of the best Western animated shows currently airing right now. I like the transition of Dick to Nightwing and Aqualad is badass. Makes me want to be a fan of other DC heroes other than the Batman family. My question is...... Is Superboy portrayed like that in the comics? Emo teen with anger issues? I have read the "Blackest Night" and he seems so laid back there. o_O

Since his ressurection following Infinite Crisis he became a lot more laid back. But he was a lot like that before it. Not to the extent Young Justice portrayed (at least not what I saw, I haven't managed to catch very many episodes), but he did have a lot of issues he didn't know how to deal with.


Tim and Damian didn't fight in Battle for the Cowel though. Tim fought Jason and nearly got kill. The only other time I can think of that Damian and Tim fought was right after they first met, and Tim frankly got his ass handed to him.

Superboy is reminds me Hulk in YJ. M'gaan reminds me of Jean Grey. Not familiar with these characters. I didn't even know there was a white martian. Maybe DC will introduce us to Rainbow Martian squad, just like the Lanteren Corps.

Ohh.. Right! I think it happened after BftC. It's the one where Tim and Damian fight outside the theater where Bruce's parents died. Tim was getting the upper hand but Dick stop them. From what I remember, I would not really call their first meeting a fight since Tim isn't even trying.

Speaking of comic inspired song though, one of my favourite songs was actually written before the death of superman story line. (I let them go refference supes and Grundy because it rhymes)

Btw, I still don't get the point of New52. If this is a reboot, shouldn't they include the early days of the DC heroes? o_O They only give a quick summary and proceeded already with the major storyline. I mean, the point of New52 to get in touch with the new generation of fans, right? So why not include the earlier days as well.

It wasn't a reboot, it was a gigantic retcon. The timeline is all over the place and it's hard to tell when anything is happening. The only ones I really know are that the batman family and the Green Lanters are taking place at the "present".

I see. Didn't like it that much except for the Batman and Flash titles.
Superman isn't super anymore. lol

I'm reading Daredevil Reborn comic, which is pretty good. If he's a popular or mainstay in the Avengers, I'm sure he's their Batman figure. Dark and moody, then again, Avengers doesn't fear one another. Most of the JL fears Batman.

Btw, do you know what happened after Civil War? I tried to research it but didn't get any clear answer, just saying that Cap gets shot, Iron Man wins, Bucky becomes Cap, Spidey made a deal with the devil to reset things. So are all heroes on the pro-registration act still up to now?

It also drove a lot of the anti-registration heroes underground (ie the New Avengers), created The Initiative, allowed Norman Osborne to take control of the Thunderbolts, and overall helped pave the way toward the Secret Invasion event. The one thing you have to credit Marvel with when it comes to their events is that they tend to lead into one another quite well.

Okay... So all the events after CW like Secret Invasion and World War Hulk means that most heroes don't have a secret identity anymore? Except of course, for Spidey and some others. When did Iron Man gave up the chase to force the others to be pro-registration?

When it was made law. A whole ton of the ASM Brand New Day storyline is based around Spiderman being labled an outlaw.

So Spidey and the others are still an outlaw to this day? Then how come they are working together with the Avengers in AvX? They are in front of pro-reg heroes. Gah.. Sorry, I'm getting confused. Because when I read the other events after Civil War, the pro-reg and the anti-reg seems to be getting along well and I'm like whatever happened to the hunter and the hunted.

Keep in mind Civil War was over 5 years ago. A lot has changed and happened since then.
