Angels and Airwaves

I love listening to these guys. A lot of their music puts me in a calming mood, and Tom's (lead singer) voice fits just so well with the music.

Anyone else like them?

The only songs from them I really listen to are The Adventure and The War. But I really like those two. The other stuff from them I've heard just didn't catch my attention that much.

What's going on with them now, what with Blink reuniting?

Indeed, Glutexo. One thing I'm happy about, is that they're staying together, even with Blink getting back together.

The Adventure has got to be my favorite song of theirs. Also the first one I'd heard.

They're still together. They just released a new single called "Hallucinations" available for download on their website. Teh new album is going to be called "LOVE", and they're (at least were) making a movie.

I really, really don't like Tom Delonge. Like, his voice makes me want to hurt people.

^ In blink-182 I like his voice because his voice is the complete opposite of Mark's and when they harmonize it fits. In AvA I like it because it fits with the type of music.

Also, if you REALLY want to hate Tom's voice listen to blink-182's Flyswatter or Buddha. Now THAT voice makes me want to hurt people.

I like "The Adventure."

Every other song I've heard from them comes off as being meandering and self-indulgent. There's only so long I can listen to airy little blips that bookend every song.

I used to be pretty big on AVA a couple years back, listening to We Don't Need to Whisper and I-Empire on loop for 2+ months. I liked the music, but I liked the band line-up even more. Seriously, Atom Willard and Ryan Sinn(I know he left in 2007) in the same band is just spectacular.

That being said, I got more and more turned off by mainly Tom's pretentious attitude about himself, like a modern day Bono or so. Despite not listening to them for nearly 2 years, I decided to dowload LOVE out of curiosity. I listened to most of the songs on it, but the only ones I really enjoyed were Young London and Hallucinations. The other ones weren't necessarily terrible, it just didn't tickle my fancy.

Oddly enough, Tom really seemed to turn off that persona when in Blink-182 when they reunited last year, and was great live when I saw him in Toronto last august. Now I really seem like I've ragging on the AVA Tom, but I do give him credit for releasing LOVE for free. I know he's losing $500,000 for doing this and you don't see too many mainstream musicians do that this day and age.

I dunno. I thought he did great when I saw him live. I discussed this with Nolan shortly after the Blink-182 concerts in Toronto and we both were pretty skeptical about Tom's voice, listening to clips on youtube, but in real life, it sounds pretty darn good.

I would certainly see them again. too bad it won't be until 2011 at the earliest when they tour US/Canada again.

Well, I used to listen to them a bit (never was really into them, even then), but now I find their music somewhat boring. Probably one of the better "mainstream" acts though.

I hate Angels & Airwaves. I tried getting into them, I did. But they're just so freaking bad. It's a horrible excuse for music, especially the lyrics.
To quote a reviewer on AbsolutePunk about "Love":

So lighten up, Tom, and stop trying to change the world. You've already done that in the hearts of many, when you weren't even trying.

He needs to just stop. It's horrible. The lyrics are so cheesy and he tries so hard to make epic sounding music but it just ends up failing.
