Re: Prince of Persia Movie - anyone else excited?

I think that it will at least be mediocre if it isn't good (mainly because it's made by the Pirate's people and will have cool special effects for sure), but I'm really excited for this... It's hard not to. I've been waiting for something like this since 2003 (the year PoP:SoT came out)...

Re: Prince of Persia Movie - anyone else excited?

Are you kidding me, IDK how they somehow *** up the story every time they do something like this. Not that I ain't excited but still, god stick with the ORIGINAL for crying out loud.

Though it sucks that disney is he one to do it, NT and NT2 were awesome, but I'd prefer a good team of sci-fi guys (since that's what this is) like George Lucas and Steven SPealburg. That or pixar, their movies usually turn out great.

I'm more excited about the Avatar: The last airbender movie, simply cause it's such an awesome show. (considering it came from Nickalodian, who's shows otherwise are terible) I'm actially more interested in seeing how they pull off water and firebending, earthbending wouldn't be hard, airbending just a bunch of cleaverly placed air jets. But the other two would be really difficult to pull off the stuff in the show.

Video Game Movie Flowchart

1. Major big-name and well known actors are portraying the characters and a major movie company and producer with a lot of hits and peer worship is/are the driving force(s) behind the VG movie. fans have high hope of this being the one of the few great VG movies.

|
|

V

2. Images, scripts, and trailers are leaked and/or released. The movie appears to be horrible, the acting is bad, the music is badly composed and the story does not stick to the original. The movie comes out and it bombs.

V

3. Fans vow never to buy-in to Hollywood produced video games movie that seems great. Repeat from number 1.

Re: Prince of Persia Movie - anyone else excited?

To be honest, even I think that's a bit harsh How do we know the characters won't be portrayed as they are in the game, as long as the princess is pissy about working with prince, the villains some old jaffar ish dude, and the main elements of the game then I'm happy. (IE the dagger, sands of time, the hourglass, dagger powers etc)

The effect (which I'm assuming is the rewind move) seems pretty awesome, and there's only so much a trailor can say about a movie. If the trailor hypes the movie too much (as Pirates did) then of course it's gonna suck when it comes out, only to the fact it didn't stack up to the hype. That doesn't automatically make it a bad movie.

I'm sure it'd be different if it were something like sayyyy Naruto or Innuyasha, or some other majorly huge anime. But for a game that has basically no story (find the hourglass whoopie) and considering this IS disney, it's gonna be a little off.

My main problem with this film is that it converted the Prince of Persia 2008 sequel into another Sands of Time sequel.

You mean rival swords? Can't be, he still has the dagger and all the powers. Maybe it's him traveling toward the castle in the cinimatic? You know where he says the bit about not hiring a traitor or something? I bet it's that part and they mixed it up a little.

Re: Prince of Persia Movie - anyone else excited?

This movie looks kinda bad, but since I'm a fan of the franchise, I'll go watch it just to humor myself. You can't exactly trust Hollywood anymore with stuff like this, for they ruin franchises with craptastic movies. It's what they're known for.

But still, this might be interesting to laugh at, so I'll humor myself by watching it.

Dude Ironman pwned, batman pwned, The Hulk pwned, superman was awesome, it's only cause it had to be disney that urks me. Marvel coulda done more with it than disney, especially with tim burtain at the helm.

Huh? Neither Tim Burton or Marvel is involved in the Prince of Persia movie.

You misread my point. I was simply saying that hollywood IS capable of pwnage fanbased movies (IE batman, superman, fantastic four etc) with the right directers etc. I meant nothing about this movie, simply assuming that it'll be crappy cause it was the same director of Pirates of The Carrabian (which in my opinion pwned) is "presumng too much" lol (yes a pop joke, duh xD)

Re: Prince of Persia Movie - anyone else excited?

From what I've seen, it appears that they're at least taking the source material moderately, costumes and props are pretty faithful to their game counterparts, so there's a decent chance that this will be a good movie.

Re: Prince of Persia Movie - anyone else excited?

Yeah, I can't wait to see what the jaffar-ish dude looks like, and I hope the bathouses have sand-zombie chicks. xD I mean Pirates and National treasures were awesome live action movies. Then we got The Grinch, A Christmas Carol (the new one w jim carry) and of course the ultimate in pixar clasics Toy Story! Disney's rep is as big as this game, it's just sad that a lotta people will turn it down because it's disney. Then again I just rented up last night, there's a reason for it holding the #'s 1 and 2 in the box office for a good while.

What does this have to do with anything?

Disney owns Marvel.
