Has anyone read Animal Farm? I had to read it for honors English this semester and I think it's a pretty good book. I'd describe it as Charlotte's Web with government stuff, a little bit of alcohol, and, of course, a religious raven. My favorite character is Boxer.
I usually don't like anything we read in school. Dunno why really.
Your loss.
I read this back in 8th grade. It's a really great story, and it makes you think of the flaws that old Communist governments had. I currently have it in a book that also has 1984, another good George Orwell book, though I prefer Animal Farm because it's not quite as depressing.
Animal Farm is one of the main books read in high school english classes... well, where I'm from anyways.
I didn't like it though, to be honest. I only caught glimpses of here and there, meaning which animal represented which political figure, but for the majority it just confused me.

I'd also like to mention what my favorite quote from anything Animal Farm is, and that would have to be in the movie when Old Major is telling the animals that they will be slaughtered when they are no longer useful and the goat or lamb (I'm really not sure which one it is) yells "Noooooooooo!"
My dad gave it to me to read in 6th grade, and I read it again just recently. I think that it's an amazing book. Alot of symbolism. And I loved the ending.
I would have to say that my favourite character is snowball. Although Nepolean was pretty awesome too.
