The In Character Thread: One More Time

Electromagnetism...good way to wipe the hard drives, ISAAC thought. If he were to wipe the entire system like that... Ah, but that would take a large electromagnetic pulse. I wouldn't be surprised though... ISAAC quickly reinfected the wiped hard drive. So far the infection had spread far enough to allow ISAAC control over most of the station's simple functions. To test this; and to show Falenor how far he'd come along; he shut the doors to the room and turned off all the lights.

"Well...alright, I may as well give it a shot." Falenor thought. For starters, he absorbed or redirected every last bit of energy in the system, completely shutting it down. Then he used targeted electromagnetic fields to wipe all the data on the system, making sure to get every piece of information that was stored anywhere within the network. He then retrieved the backup from the disk (which had no wireless capability whatsoever and couldn't even process commands) and restored the system to it's previous state using his own mind in much the same way one might go about using a wireless point. The whole exercise took something of the order of 2 hours, given the totality and precision required, along with the distances which forced higher energy expenditure, meaning Falenor needed to drain several orbs worth of energy to fuel the process. Had it taken much longer, he wouldn't have been able to do it since the air vents would have been powered off for too long.

"Ah, I see you've managed to gain control of the basic systems," Falenor thought. "Congratulations, I guess" he chuckled.

When Falenor restarted the system, the lights turned back on and the doors opened back up. Shutting down and wiping the entire system...cheater. Although he could have simply started anew, he decided to call it off for now. He didn't really need the space station anyway, and the only permenant way to do it would be to somehow disable Falenor's ability to manipulate energy. Of course, the best way to do that would be to kill him, and he didn't feel like that was exactly necessary at the moment. The Protos Eschatos powered back up, being now the focus of ISAAC's consciousness here. He got up from the table and walked over to Falenor.

"Good job, I suppose," he said. "Of course, it would not have been difficult for me to physically stop you from restoring the system, so don't think you're necessarily better than me in this instance."

Keeping a note of ISAAC's encrypted thoughts for later decoding as always, Falenor could sense ISAAC walking over to him and used the time to make some quick preparations in anticipation of what ISAAC was going to do. "I tend to avoid the assumption that I'm better than anyone at any given point, but you must realize that-" Falenor zipped around behind ISAAC in time to continue the sentence naturally "-it is harder to catch me than you might at first think," he dashed around in front of ISAAC with kinetic force applied to make the movement almost instantaneous...

...then tripped over upon reaching his destination, which somewhat ruined the effect. After getting up, he muttered irritably, "Well, my point still stands. Though I'd be willing to bet that you possess some sort of teleportation..."

"Sure," Anna replied, looking at him again. "If you want." Standing up to stretch, she smiled and began to touch her toes, a small popping noise coming from her knees as she did so. "I haven't stretched in a while. I needed that," she laughed, and sat down again. " Now go on, show me."

" . . . Well," Radkin hesitated slightly, "it'll take us a while to get there, but it's really cool," He told her, givng a lopsided grin.

Hey, Vitros, Falenor, how about you? Where going somewhere, somewhere anyone else consider amazing! Radkin thought to the others. Ask ISAAC too for me, would ya?

"Well, you may be hard to catch..." ISAAC watched as Falenor spun quickly around the room, "but I could have shot you from across the room while you were concentrating. Never mind that though."

ISAAC laughed at Falenor when he tripped and fell onto the floor. "I do possess a sort of teleportation, but it would be impractical to use it to catch you. It involves returning back to my present time, and then teleporting back here. It would take far to long to be useful in that manner, unless I needed to cross a great distance."

"Ah, shooting. But there are precautions I could take if we were in a more serious setting. Hmm...as far as teleporting goes, that sounds awfully inefficient. I mean, you have some device in your time that allows you to materialize wherever you want in this time, correct? Perhaps there's some way to make use of that device without traveling back to your time? Though I've no idea how future technology works..."

Falenor picked up what Radkin was thinking and thought back, "Hmm...I'll see what Vitros says, but unless something comes up I'm probably good to come." He then said to ISAAC, "Radkin's taking a bunch of people somewhere he says should be amazing. Interested?"

"It's inefficient for use in close quarters, sure, but that's not what it was built for. I can't use the chronoportation device without going back to my time, because that's where the device is located. I could probably build a more compact short-distance teleportation device if I needed one."

ISAAC listened as Falenor relayed Radkin's telepathic message. "Where are we going, and how is he taking us there?" he asked.

Right, he said. "Well, ISAAC, we are going somewhere that is back in my present time," he told ISAAC, "I still have ties of sorts."

"It's somewhere I fought in a tournament that was held," he explained to the others, "it was called 'Facing Worlds'. "
"You'll just have to see it for yourselves," Radkin said sarcasticly.

"And, ISAAC," he started, "you'll see soon enough," he assured him.

"Ah, interesting. I'll be glad to tag along; I've seen most of what there is to see here, anyway." ISAAC said. "What kind of tournament were you in? Some kind of fighting tournament, you say?"

"Hmm...this all sounds very interesting. Should I bring all my usual defensive gear? Is there likely to be a need for it? Because if so, Jori and Lima are still using my cloak," he said with a small laugh.

"Not very likly," Radkin said slowly. "If there is ANY trouble, they'll know your with me," he explained.

Turning to ISAAC, "Yes. A brutal one at that. Once we get there, I'll explain everything," Radkin told the other, "You'll like it. Trust me."

"Hmm...alright, count me in. But I'm taking my staff as I usually do. So when are we heading off?" Falenor asked, now exceedingly curious about the place Radkin was taking them to, something that showed up in his tone of voice.

"Right," Radkin acknowlaged.
"We can set out now," he suggested, "but I'd rather wait on Anna . . ."
"I'll be at the big window if you need me," he said as he gives up and walks out.
