[OoC Thread] Frozen Masquerade

And now The Frozen Masquerade comes with it's own Out of Character thread. Many thanks to the BA Council and our own producer, Euphoria, for making this OoC possible.

This thread is reserved for the purpose of discussing the Crossroads RP The Frozen Masquerade, and to reduce the hassle and complications that may and no doubt will arise in communication between everyone participating in this great mess of a roleplay. In this thread, you may:

- Discuss the roleplay
- Put forth and discuss ideas
- Ask questions or request any clarifications on rules, storylines, or characters as they relate to Masquerade
- Make announcements that directly relate/will affect the RP and its players (e.g. "I'm off to my aunt's for the week and won't be able to post.")

Other subjects that may be discussed in this thread will be added as they are required.

And in this thread, you may not:

- Discuss subjects outside The Frozen Masquerade; such discussions must be taken to the regular OoC
- Post unnecessarily; for example, posts such as, "I can't wait for it to be my turn!" and "It's X's turn now" are discouraged. These subjects can certainly be addressed, but I would prefer that a post did not consist merely of that. In other words, elaboration is fun, :)

Again, other verboten subjects will be added as they arise.

EDIT: I'm dropping people who haven't posted in the first round. So now we've 11 participants. I am no longer accepting character submissions. The posting order for The Frozen Masquerade is as follows:

A quick summary:

Participating characters will first discover and enter a snowbound mansion, where they are invited, by its owner, to partake in a feast and follow it up with hours of dancing and entertainment. Rooms for the night are afterward offered; darkness closes in. But the next morning does not come. Rather, your character’s nightmares, made material, come in morning's place. Your objective is to escape the house. Team up, go at it alone; only break free of the mansion before the illusions swallow you alive. How will that be accomplished? Howsoever you desire or think an appropriate motivation to keep your character moving.

As for a few points I wished to make mention of...

1) For the sake of quick and easy movement of the RP, participants will have two weeks in which to reply when it is their turn to post. If after two weeks a participant has not yet posted, his or her turn will be skipped.

2) And please, don't feel obliged to write publish-worthy posts at every turn. For all the objectives I might have outlined, the main goal is to have fun writing. =D

Question: What is the mansion owner's personality like? I think you should tell us before we all come up with contradicting personalities of him.

I see the owner as a sad and wistful person - almost like an old gentleman (very courteous to guests, very observant of manners and propriety), but with a touch of insanity to him: he may say strange things or give a person to believe that he considers his house more a human than an inanimate object. He also has a strain of malice to him. Once our characters are beneath his roof, he wants them to stay, whatever their opinions on the matter may be. I don't think he would recognize that people would have desires that differ from his, or that he is capable of hurting others through means besides physical violence.

Indeed, we will! He's going to be the one to invite our characters to stay and sup with him, and afterward offer everyone a bed for the night. And as he is essentially an "all playable character", you can have him show up in your posts later on.

She might... though I don't think she'll be entering legally, xD The more I think about my next post, the more I'm convinced Raziya is the type of person to go around breaking and entering when it benefits her to do so. I think it would be fun if everyone's characters didn't enter through the front door by way of invitation, just to give this first event in the RP some variety.

What say you all to characters entering now in this first slew of posts, rather than have them merely coming in sight of the mansion? Some characters could still wait for the owner's invitation, and others could slip in and wander around if that's in their character to do so. The owner wouldn't mind in the least, methinks, =)

And front door is too obvious. Obviously sneaking into the 3rd floor through a diagonal ceiling light is the way to go.

I don't see why ever not, xD Entering through a chimney, after all, is far more interesting than entering through a window. It would make an engaging read at the very least. Toeing the realms of impossibility always do.
