At Mornings Dawn (Open to all)

Ooc: This is my first RP in ZU. Though I have participated in many different fourms and RPed in several of it's threads, this is my first Zelda RP. Please be nice if I make a mistake, I'll most likely fix it in the next two seconds.

Ic:

Atop the trees in a nearby forest, a woman laid sleeping on a large pile of branches high above the trees. The sun leaked through the leaves of the forest and landed right ontop of her eyelids.

She raised an arm to cover the light before opening her eyes.

"Time to wake up," she said and sat up to look around. The previous day's work had made her proud, since none of her items she had spread around the tree bed hadn't fallen to the forest bottom where it would most surely break.

She grabbed her sack and checked that no one had decided to visit the woman and steal anything.

Money, bow, quiver full of arrows, bombs, short sword, knives, kusarigami, short swords, and deku nuts. Everything is here. Now... where is my cloak?

She looked and just noticed that her cloak was missing.

That cloak is impossible to keep track of, she thought and suddenly heard footsteps below where she was sleeping. She looked over the edge and saw a figure walking under her, and sure enough her cloak laid sprawled over the forest bottom.

OoC: Okay, I posted in the thread like I said I would via PM yesterday.

IC: Xavier ran through the dense green wood; dodging trees and shrubs while making sure not to drop the stolen sack of jewels he had stolen the previous day. There were at least six large sapphires in the bag and no one was chasing him; it was the perfect crime. Unfortunately, he had been running from guards for the past seven hours and had not slept in what felt like weeks. He continued to run for a few more minutes, but decided to take a break and began a slow walk. Within seconds after stopping his continuous run Xavier felt his legs begin to explode with pain. He staggered forward; breathing heavily. Eventually he came across a cloak on the ground before him. He walked up to it and picked it up; feeling very confused about where it came from.

“Give me my cloak, please,” someone said from above his head.

“Who are you?” Xavier asked; straining his neck to look up at where the voice came from.

OoC: ... you spelled "decided" wrong, you said to point out mistakes.

[Selena]

OoC: Thanks, spelling mistakes are what I need to work on.

IC:

"Give me my cloak, please," Selena said to the person below her. She called out to him after he picked up her cloak and didn't want him to steal it.

"Who are you?" he called back to her and she replied,

"Just a traveler whose cloak is in your hand, sir." She grabbed her sack and the rest of her items, jumped from the tree bed and landed softly next to Xavier. With her sensitive ears, she could hear him panting as if he was running for a long time.

"And might I ask the very same question to you? These forests aren't really that popular with human contact," she said. She stole a glance toward the bag he was holding and had a strong feeling that it was stolen. She held out a hand and said,

"My cloak, sir."

OoC: Good job! Here it is, fresh from my brain matter!

IC:“Right, you want your cloak back. Sorry,” Xavier said while handing the cloak to the woman standing in front of him.

“Thanks.”

“My name is Xavier by the way,” the young man stated.

“I am Selena, what brings you here?”

“Just taking a nice run through the forest, you know, trying to get some exercise,” Xavier lied.

“That sack of stolen jewels tells a different story,” Selena said; pointing to the pouch of gems in Xavier’s hand.

Xavier opened his mouth to say something, but chose not to.

“Fine, you caught me. Good job. I am running from the law,” Xavier said.

Selena was about to say something, but stopped. Xavier saw her ears twitch a little and noticed a look of concentration on her face.

“Do you hear that? It sounds like… fire,” Selena said.

“Fire has a sound?” Xavier wondered.

“Yes, it is hard to describe.”

Xavier listened for a moment, but couldn’t hear it. He could, however, smell smoke.

Selena looked east, most likely the direction of the fire, and turned toward Xavier after a few seconds of thought.

“Come with me,” she said before they were both teleported.

“Like I have a choice,” Xavier replied.

The two stood a few yards away from a roaring forest fire; the source of which appeared to be a small group of guards who looked like the first victims of the blaze. Xavier looked up and saw that the fire was rapidly spreading through the canopy of the forest. He guessed it would take a few short minutes for it to spread far enough to burn down the whole forest, and then the adjacent town.

OoC: I introduced a conflict! Also, is it okay for the teleportation to work? I don't know if Selena is familiar with the forest, so I will assume she is.

[Selena]

OoC: See that she's in the forest and she was comftrable sleeping in there, I'm guessing she is. Okay and on to the story!

IC: Selena heard the sound of fire in the distance.

“Do you hear that? It sounds like… fire,” Selena said.

"Fire has a sound?" Xavier wondered.

It was hard for her to describe it seeing it was just a chemical reaction, but she would hear this clicking sound that would say it was a fire.

“Yes, it is hard to describe.”

Now seeing that she was terrified of fire, she didn't know either to flee or put it out. She looked to the east where the sound was the strongest and looked back to the man who had a bag of stolen jewels. After a few quick seconds, she grabbed Xavier and ordered,

"Come with me." They teleported to the east of the forest and were a few yards away from the blazing forest fire that laid before them. She saw Xavier look to the canopy and silently gasped in horror that the fire was in the canopy and could hear in the distance a small breeze encouraging the fire.

Think quickly, Selena. A forest fire plus a breeze will result in the devastation of the forest and the area around it.

Her body was slightly shivering from the thought of the fire destroying more of the forest and possibly innocent people. Then, by a stroke of luck, she heard water. She looked to the west and remembered the river that she used to refill her canteen. It wasn't too far either, just behind the trees.

"We need buckets," she mumbled to herself and teleported two large buckets and shoved one into Xavier's arm.

OoC: Okay, I had to get this up quickly because I have a busy weekend. I hope you don't mind the bandits, they were all I could think of at short notice.

IC: It took Xavier a few minutes to remember that he could control the water in the river, and when he did it caused him to drop the bucket he was carrying.

“What are you doing?!” Selena yelled while throwing the contents of her bucket onto the raging fire.

“I am putting the fire out!” Xavier replied.

The young man placed his feet firmly in the ground and concentrated on the water in the river. He slowly lifted his hands so that he could better visualize some of the water rising from the river. He then slowly began to move the water in the direction of the fire. After a few seconds of this, beads of sweat began to form on his face. He could see a large mass of water moving toward the fire, but couldn’t tell if he could hold out long enough to douse the flames.

“Almost… almost there…” Xavier grunted as the water moved closer.

The mass of water was making progress, but at this rate it wouldn’t get to the fire in time.

“Wouldn’t it be easier to move if it was a cloud?” Selena observed.

Xavier didn’t say anything; instead he decompressed the water and turned it into vapor. He immediately felt like a huge weight had been lifted from his shoulders. He moved the cloud over the source of the fire and let the rain loose on it; dousing it completely.

Selena and Xavier breathed a sigh of relief before Xavier collapsed to the ground. Moving the water had taken all of his energy, and a group of bandits were approaching.

“Hey, you put out our fire! Now how are we going to show the town guard that we are a force to be reckoned with?!” one of the bandits yelled.

“We could just kill the two who put it out and then set another one,” another bandit replied.

“Why kill them? It would be easier to take them back to our hideout and make the town pay ransom money for them!” said another bandit.

A dozen hidden bandits leaped from the burned trees; wielding swords and ropes.

“Let’s get the unconscious one first!”

[Selena]

OoC: This weekend is gonna be busy for me too, but I have spare time to post.

IC:

Selena watched as Xavier collapsed to the ground and she sighed in relief that the forest wouldn't be burned down. She heard Xavier fall to the ground and looked over to him as the make shift rain came down.

"Hey, you put out our fire! Now hare are we going to show the town guard that we are a force to be reckoned with?!" cried someone behind her and she turned around. A group of bandits were around them and she suggested that they were the ones that started the fire.

“We could just kill the two who put it out and then set another one,” another bandit replied. She was still full of energy and slowly reached for her short sword on her hip.

“Why kill them? It would be easier to take them back to our hideout and make the town pay ransom money for them!” said another bandit.

A dozen hidden bandits leaped from the burned trees; wielding swords and ropes.

“Let’s get the unconscious one first!” Selena grabbed her sword, ripped it out and jumped at the first one closest to her. She stabbed him in the back and jumped onto another one.

She didn't really like killing people, but will have to when they want to use her for something or kill her. She jumped from bandit to bandit and ocassionally threw a Deku nut to stun a few to eliminate them.

But her energy was running out with dodging weapons and going to bandit to bandit. She also had to keep an eye on Xavier and tried to prevent anyone from taking him.

Even thought he did steal something, he saved an entire town, she thought as she kneed a bandit that was running at her. More bandits came out of the trees and charged at the two that were in the center of them all.

She was panting and her legs felt like they would buckle anytime. Suddenly, a bandit came out of the trees and hit her hard on the back of her head with a club, knocking her out.

"Okay, tie these two up and head back to the hideout. Make sure not to let any of them escape, the girl already has shown us her skills," he said as he looked at the bodies that laid sprawled across the forest floor.

OoC: Sorry that took so long.

IC: Xavier awoke to find a knife pressed against the back of his neck and a rope around his body. He wanted to ask where he was, but his throat was too dry to speak. He could feel something pressing against his back but couldn’t turn around to see what it was.

“Well, well, well, looks who’s up,” someone said from his right.

Xavier tried to look at the person who spoke but found that the ropes were too tight to move.

“What’s wrong little boy? Thirsty? Yeah you’re a thirsty boy aren’t you?” the person said in a mocking tone while waving a large bucket of water in front of Xavier’s face.

Xavier waited until the man walked in front of him then used what little fluids he had left to spit in his eye.

“Now you are going to get it you little bastard,” the bandit shouted before grabbing a large leather whip and holding it menacingly.

[Selena]

OoC: It's okay

IC: Selena awoke with a cold blade against her neck. She tried to move, but not only was she tied in ropes, she was also bounded by chains connected to the floor. The person grabbed her chin and forced her to look at the man.

"Hello there pretty. You put a nice show out here, but look at you now," he smirked. Selena held her face and tried to collect a small bit of spit in her mouth.

"I could spare you if you give me a kiss," he laughed and puckered his lips. She spat right in his eye and smirked.

"Don't give me that smirk girl!" The man raised his knife and stabbed it in her shoulder between the chains.

She grunted but gave no sign that she would beg for mercy. She ignored his chuckling and saw Xavier in the cell just across her own.

Just great. A child of the goddesses captured by simple bandits. I guess a mortal body has its ups and downs.

The man kicked her hard in the side and the chains scrapped against her and cut into her skin.

"Not so tough here, eh?" the bandit laughed and she tried to devise a plan quickly in her mind.

IC: Crack!

The whip cut into Xavier’s bare back; causing drops of blood to fall to the cold floor of his cell. The young man was repetitively struck by the menacing whip. Don’t let them hear you scream, remain tough. Again and again the whip cut into his back; the shards of glass embedded into the whip made the pain even worse and the cuts deeper.

“Are you going to beg for mercy?” the bandit laughed as he cracked the whip on Xavier’s back.

Xavier shut his eyes and breathed in deeply. He tried to ignore the pain, but everything that came into contact with his wounds felt like a knife.

“Is… is that all you’ve got?” Xavier shouted at the bandit.

“Not even close,” the bandit said before punching the young man in the gut and kicking him in his wounds.

Xavier tried to think of a way to escape, but couldn’t think of anything through the pain. All he could think about was the pain, a pain that consumes all other feelings, turning Xavier into a punching bag for his captors.
