A Split Second (Paine)

OoC: I can't exactly remember where we left off, but this should be close enough.

IC:

He’s waiting for me to attack, thought Kami. I’ll have to come up with something…devious. The boy held Kami’s gaze firmly, his weapons upraised. He’ll be expecting me to charge him with my sword, so why don’t I just stay put? The elf picked his bow from off his back and strung an arrow as quickly as he could. He fired at a tree behind the boy, making him jump as he had hoped. At that moment he rushed towards him and tackled Raiku to the ground.

Kami pinned the boy’s arms with his knees and lay on top of him. “Have I won yet?” he sneered slyly.

“Not even close,” the boy spat back as he struggled to break free. Kami pushed down harder while he planned his next move. I could just hurt him until he gives in; or continue the fight and waste him. He felt something on his back: sticking and irritating, For a second the elf let go of Raiku and the boy sprang up out of his grasp. Raiku kicked Kami in the shins while he tried to figure out what these menaces were. Leave them alone! someone in his head cried. Focus on the fight. Kami nodded to himself and picked up his sword.

“This indirect nonsense has gone on far enough,” he said commandingly. “How about we end the magic, the archery and the tackling, and just focus on sword combat?”

“Fine by me,” the boy replied. The pests on his back seemed to have gone away. Kami gave the boy a glare of annoyance. “So straight fighting then?” The boy walked calmly towards Kami and put up his swords in a fighting stance.

I’ll just wait. It’s his turn to begin.
