Malice Spire
OOC: so yeah, this is my first RP, I'll be using my character Ragnos and this is open to anyone but no more than 4 can join)
BiC: Rolling plains, covered in a thick mist stretch for miles and miles. The only life on this dismal expanse are little glowing insects that create ghostly lights through the fog. The soil is hard and incapable of harboring any life other then the golden-dead grass that covers every inch of the plains. A giant spire protrudes the ground somewhere in the plains. The spire is made of a dull colored marble. The spiral is a spiral staircase leading to the roof, which is a giant ring. The roof is twenty stories high, the ground below is not visable through the fog and the glow of the insects. The only thing notable about this spire is the tome in a mausoleum on the roof. The tomb is for a lich who's name has been lost to the ages, but his tome is still remembered in legends. It contains the lich's study notes of necromastery and is a considered a priceless artifact. Malice Spire, the final resting place of this tome of legends __________________________________________________ ______________ Ragnos trudged over the hard earth. The dead grass made small crunching noises with every step. His plate boots left small imprints every step he took. The air was damp and humid, a bead of sweat rolled down Ragnos' face and fell to the ground below. Hours and hours of walking over these plains had left Ragnos tired and miserable. The sun had just began to lower in the sky when Ragnos' heart began to race. There, in the distance was the spire. Ragnos pace quickened, and as he walked he left a trail of swirling fog. Ragnos reached the front gate of the spire as the sun was beginning to set. The fog around the tower was glowing now with the light of the insects. It's probably better to get some rest before I try to get that tome Ragnos thought. He took his sword sheath off and layed it beside him. He sat against the gate and drifted off to sleep.

Demyx had been wandering the plains for what felt like days but could not have been more than a few hours. Now, finally, he had arrived. The Malice Spire rose into the clouds before him, supposedly secure behinde a worn, rusting gate, and he couldn't help but feel as though the treasure which slept within it was as good as his. He noticed, out of the corner of his eye, a sleeping figure. He couldn't believe his eyes when he noticed the blade which was beside him.
How could he have been so careless? He asked himself, shaking his head in amusement. He left him to lie there, however. It was foolish to expend his energy on such an idiotic waste of space. He was surprised at how angry he was about all this. He would not be of any use to him. He sat in wait at the foot of the tower. He would not be able to make any progress during the night, even with all of the glowing bugs all around.

Ragnos opened his eyes to greet the noise of the two warriors squabbling. The initial shock of two others standing near him faded. His heart rate remained low, and his nerves remained untouched. He slipped his hand over to his sword and then, in a flash, was on his feet.
It was the dead of night, Ragnos was at his prime. He grinned at the two men who now stood facing him. "Gentlemen," Ragnos began "I certainly don't hope you're planning on getting the liches tome." At that, Ragnos laughed and unsheathed his sword. He stepped between the two men to stand in front of the gate. He tapped the gate twice with his sword to test it. He raised his arm and with a crashing noise brought the gate to rubble with the blood moon. A faint red crescent hung in the air where the sword had cleaved the gate, then vanished. Ragnos turned to face the two men. "I guess its who ever gets to the roof first then..." With a laugh he began to run up the never ending marble staircase.

Ah... Demyx understood. So these ignorant little fools want the tome, do they? Ha!
He ran after the man, gaining on him quickly. He grasped his shoulder tightly and threw him to the ground. He stood in front of the door, readied his blade and his shield and declared: "Neither of you will take the tome from it's resting place! This tome holds the key to unlocking the mysteries of my past! It is mine to hold!" The other man faced him, clenching his fists, "Who the hell do you think you are?" He spat, angry. Demyx laughed out loud, "You do not know me?" He asked, mocking outrage. While he was well known in most places, it was clear that this cocky idiot came from somewhere he had yet to destroy. He could use this to his advantage. "I am the master of this Spire, and I will not allow you to enter!" It was a lie, but he did not care. How was this fool going to know the truth? The sun was rising in the sky now, casting a hazy red glow across the plains. "I don't believe you!" The man replied, eying him carefully. It didn't matter. As soon as he had finished speaking, Demyx attacked him, his blade swiftly defeating him, for now at least. The man fell to the ground unconscious. Demyx ran up the staircase. He would have to be quick if he was to gain the tome for himself before they awoke.

OoC: Yeah, okay mate. I'll keep writing. I've been a little busy lately too, that's why I didn't do it sooner!
BiC: Demyx ran up the spiral staircase as fast as he could, and he made good time. He was about a quater of the way up the mammoth tower when he noticed one of the two down below him stirring. He stopped. It wasn't often that he used his powers from so high up, but he had to stop the man with the crescent blade. So far, he was his greatest competition. The other man, foolish as he obviously was, had stumbled across this place by accident. He was strong, yes, but brawn enough would not be enough to gain the tome which Demyx sought. Demyx concentrated his mind on his adversary and focused his magical energy on the clouds above him. He could feel a tiny amount of moisture within the cloud, and he used his magic to manipulate that moisture. He groped around in his mind for the memories which he needed to activate the magic which he sought. He found them far too quickly. The first set of memories were all of him killing for hire. He killed his targets without remorse or regret. He used the cold feeling which welled up within him to turn the moisture into ice and then the memories changed. This time he remembered the betrayal he had felt when his mentor, his friend, had revealed that it was he who had annihilated his tribe and left him orphaned and alone in the world. The sheer anger which he felt caused dark, evil-looking storm clouds to congregate in the air above and around him, all full of cold, ferocious energy which blocked out all of the light in the sky. With a dark sneer, Demyx commanded the clouds which he had created to burst forth and relinquish the icy missiles within them. The heavens opened at his will and rained sharp hailstones down upon the plains. The stirring man below was hit numerous times by hail, as was the other, still unconcious, warrior. After a while, Demyx decided that they had suffered enough, and commanded the hail to stop. He laughed utloud and continued running. they wouldn't bother him for a while now.
