The island of Haggeny (Fire by rain)

The sand of the vest wastelands that Umi walked through was hard on him. He hadn’t drunk anything in for days and he felt as if he could die at any time. The heat from the sun beamed down on him and his black clothes didn’t do anything but make him hotter. His sword hadn’t said anything in a long time, but the demon didn’t care. He finally was able to see a town just the outline though. He wasn’t sure if it was the real thing, but it pashed him on to walk some more. The small steps he took forward couldn’t even be called a walk anymore.

The wind gusted through the wasteland kicking up sand into the demon’s face. He coved his face with his black cloak thinking how much he needed a drink and to get out of this heat. The city was close and he could see the sea in front of him. He didn’t want to go into the city, but he needed water. The continued his odd walk through the dirt-sandy street. He looked for a sign to tell him where he was, but the kicking up of dirt and his dry mouth wouldn’t let him look for long.

Umi kept his walk through what he believe to be the main street of this port town. He saw the small brick building guessing that not many people lives here. He would hate to have to ask for water so he made his way to the sea. The salt water wouldn’t be any trouble for him to drink anyway. Not many people walked the town, but a lot where walking about the port.

“I’ll find a boat to leave this place after I get something to drink, Niku,” He said hoping to hear a word from her. Nothing came out, but he guessed the hot was killing her more then him. He slowly made his way down to the shoreline where he could feel the cool breeze of the sea. He drank a little bit of water, before laying the sword into the water to cold down.

A young woman walked idly through the remotely empty streets. Since there were so few inhabitants, she did not wear her black cloak hood over her this day, leaving her blood red hair, tipped in silver, and glowing silver eyes unveiled to the usually discouraging or fearful eyes. A sword hung under her cloak at her left side, along with numerous other blades and weapons hidden in places on her person, if the need to use them arose.

She tilted her head up, and glared at the raging sun. She stopped, slipping off her cloak and folding it, carrying it in her arms as she walked on. She paused, lifting her eyes, nostrils flaring. <The sea...> she thought, walking with slightly longer strides. She climbed up a small rise, and stopped at the top, overlooking the shoreline to the water out beyond. She cocked her head slightly, glancing behind her, and then made her way down to the water, crouching down, running her fingertips along the smooth surface as the waves softly came and went in their ancient rhythm.

The woman felt an itch in the back of her mind, making her look to her left. She saw about a hundred yards away, a man bending down, drinking the ocean water. She blinked curiously. <Interesting...> she mused as he laid down to seemingly rest from the heat.

Stem rose off the sword as the demon splashed the cool water from his face. “Morning, Niku,” he said giving smile as his face cooled down. He glanced down to see the sword’s blue eyes open up. Niku could see the sea water run pass her eyes. She was cool enough to stay awake for now, but she knew that she would go back to she.

“Where are we?” she asked not being able to see anything, but the sky.

“Some town. I’m not really sure myself yet,” he told her putting his head into the water and pulling it out shaking it. He night black hair swung free as the hood fell off his head. “It’s good to be cool though,” he said glaring at the ships.

“What’s wrong?”

“I’m going to have to take the ship so I don’t what to hear you telling me to kill,” Umi quickly replied back still not taking notice of the girl. “After I get off the ship though, blood will fly.”

“Fine, but I better have some blood when that happens.”

“Ok, then,” Umi replied grabbing his massive sword from the seawater.

The woman narrowed her eyes, catching the conversation. She rose slowly to her feet, and then her eyes widened again as she saw the sword's blue eyes. <Curiouser and curiouser....>

She tilted her head a bit, and slunk away, her feet making no sound nor movement of the rocks under her weight. <You'll have to watch this one...> she told herself, eyes flashing. She walked briskly to a pile of drift wood and stepped over a large eaten-away log, sitting inside to hide until the demon made a move.

Umi didn’t walk right away thinking about how he should ask for a boat. He didn’t really like being on a boat, but he didn’t want to walk anymore in this place. “Well I’ll have to live with it for now,” he said walking off through the sand of the shore. He reached his way back on the road and looked over to the boats thinking that’s be the best place to ask someone for a ride.

“Remember Niku no talking,” he said watching the ocean slam into the land.

“Riiight, I’m going back to sleep,” She said closing her eyes already noticing the women that seem to be following behind her. “Umi keep and eye out for someone following you,” was the last thing she said before closing her eyes.

Umi wanted to look behind him, but knew that would make it hid. He found it odd that he couldn’t hear anything from behind him. Well Niku it helpful in that way, he thought still walking towards the boats. He found an old man with a big boat at the end of the dock.

“Hey, can I get a ride to where ever it is you’re going,” Umi asked not caring where he when to.

“Sure. I’m taking a lot of people to this island for something so after that I can take you to town. Get on,” The old man said while pulling some rope out of the water. Umi didn’t think it was going to be this easy but at least he would be able to get his follower on the boat to see them easier. Umi walked up the boat covering his head with his hood.
