Christmas-Themed Art Contest

I'm trying to get the concept of contests of the ground, just to see how successful it could be.

Anyway, for those in a Christmas mood, or those who just feel like drawing/painting etc, contribute a Christmas-themed artwork!

I'm not sure yet on who is going to be the judges, but there are to be 3 categories we're gonna judge in.

Colouring, Technique and Originality.

Rules are exactly the same as those of the Art forum and the entire board.

Just remember, they must have some relation to Christmas.

Judges
Fireball
Redlink2
andi
husk1442

Oh, and I forgot something, the closing date for entries is 25th December, Eastern Australian Standard time. So around the 24th for you US peeps.

Re: Christmas-Themed Art Contest

As I said in my PM to you, I'm definetly in.

We also don't want to have any biased judges. For instance, if someone likes a certain member over another, then they may vote for them. Perhaps users who don't frequent this board or newer members should be judges.

Re: Christmas-Themed Art Contest

Oh, that old stuff. I'm surprised I didn't remember it.

And yes, the way pip is drawn does make him look somewhat greek, what with the high contrast and all.

We're also going to need more participants. We only have about four right now...hopefully people like Kess and sadida can fill that gap.

Re: Christmas-Themed Art Contest

I would enter, but when i do something like on christmas it is either THE WORST THING EVER, or it is brilliant. So i think i will stick to judging, i guarentee i will not be biased, because not many people no who i am anyway, i disapeered for the longest time

Re: Christmas-Themed Art Contest

Ok, we're only gonna need 4 judges, I'm gonna be picking them from the voulenteers. But we also need more people to enter!

I'm gonna enter myself, and you judges don't need to see me as almighty or something, just a participant.

Re: Christmas-Themed Art Contest

Peefy explained it well, but I can do better. Before we had 3-D graphics, we would use 2-D pictures known as sprites. These are still used, but they aren't nearly as integral right now. The disadvantages with sprites were that you couldn't attain a huge level of detail (though there are some very nice sprites out there, like in Seiken Densetsu 3), and for each time it moved, you would have to essentially draw a new sprite. Now, with 3-D models, we can simply apply a skeleton to the model and use that to move the model, or use motion capture to make the model move.

Hope that answeres your question.
