My Second Life-A memoir of my time here at ZU
My Second Life
A memoir of my time here at ZU By Mirren Well, this is something I’ve been talking about. I’ve told a bunch of people that I was doing this, and now finally here it is. Please do not think in any way that I’m copying off Mercutio with a biography-type story. I’m not. I have wanted to do this for a very long time now, and planned it out immensely. Not to mention, Merc’s fic is on his real, actual life, mine is on what I consider at times my second life. This is like a journal, I will be telling everything as I remember it, and the whole truth. You’re going to find out some interesting, secret things of me in here, one of which might shock you all. Now, I’m beginning with the prologue, the events that transpired before my time here at the Zelda Universe forums began. Enjoy… Prologue Saturday, June 7th 2003. I had been at ZU for a little while now, checking out the site and seeing what vast information on the Zelda games it had within its myriad pages of text and pictures. On the night I first came here, I had been looking for a wonderful Zelda website to get my Zelda fic, Link’s Little Brother, posted. After looking about at the menus and sections of the site, I fell in love with it. The artworks were scenic, the fan stories awe-inspiring, and ever other place like the humor and comic sections amused me greatly. I liked this place a lot; and more than at that time within a few weeks. I decided to see what these “forums” were, and clicked on the link. I read all the terms of application, and then the rules. Once that was done, I filled out my profile, naming myself LittleLink512. I went inside, and it all began… Chapter 1: The Beginning As my first post ever here, I went to the new members’ board. There I quickly created a thread, and introduced myself to many members of the message board. Before long, someone had replied to the thread. This would actually end up becoming one of my greatest friends on ZU; Princess Zelda123. And I still remember the very first thing she said in her welcome post: “I sue you one million dollars” I laughed, I had said lastly in my post “Okay so I’m not that incredible so sue me!” and I said to myself I had what she said coming. Soon, we posted back and forth, and began to learn more about each other. As the day went on, I had more people reply and welcome me. MAJIN Link, Dantesgirl, and two of which would become great friends of min; Kokiri Kid and Correk. There were many more people, that bunch is just to name a few. Funny thing was, I thought Correk and PZ were much older. Correk about 16 and PZ123 either 17 or 16. Heh, I swear when I finally found out that they were only 11 and 12, man did my eyes bug out! I had quite a first day. I had a nice welcoming thread, and made a few buds already. I liked this place a lot; to say the least. In my first day, I had accumulated a total count of 30 posts. It didn’t slow down, because by the end of the week, I had 100 posts. Every week it seemed I had gone up another 100 posts. Heck, by the time I had joined PZ123’s training school in the Battle Arena, I had more than 300 posts! Luckily a while ago I began to calm down on the mad posting, now with about 2000 and going at a steady 11. something posts a day. My first avy was one provided by the forums, a snapshot of Adult Link’s face from Super Smash Brothers Melee. Then my first sig was one made by Irish Samurai. After a bit, I really wanted a sig pic, and I didn’t know that I would be able to do that on Paint at that time, so I just went with someone else making it for me. Correk suggested that I go to Irish Samurai, and I did. Actually I pm-ed him, and soon got a great sig. It was a glimmering golden/black background, with the faces of Young and Adult Link, the Biggoron’s Sword, Din’s Fire and the Fairy Bow below them, and then in red text said “Little Link- Second Generation Warrior” I was thrilled with this, and was very happy with my sig. Later though, I had realized the dark red text was nearly impossible to read, but Irish Samurai fixed it up, and turned it into a moon-white color with dark blue bordering. It was perfect. Chapter 2: Princess Zelda123’s Training School Man this was a place I’ll never forget. I had heard around the forums about this “Battle Arena’ and soon grew too curious. I went inside, and found out that it was one giant forum for rpg battles, duels, melees, team fight and all-out-brawls. I really didn’t know how I should battle at first, so I stopped in at PZ’s training school, which I was recommended to. I created a short profile there for who became my first, and greatest Battle Arena character; Mirren. I had been accepted, though couldn’t start my training just yet. When I came back to the forums one day after being out for a few hours, I came to the training school shocked. Within one day, 24 pages of posts were spawned. I could not believe it, now I felt as if I was way too behind, and wouldn’t get much training now. I was wrong though, and soon had my first duel at Kokiri Kid’s Caffran. The battle was unfinished though, and then I battled Jango’s Crain. That was my first real battle ever, and won it. While I liked it one time, a big problem arose. One day I had found that Kishin and Ansem were complaining that the school was worthless and not so good, nothing but a pile of spam *which it really was, though I hadn’t realized that at the time*. A feud eventually initiated, and I was right in the middle of it. I had an Aim conversation with Kishin, and I swear I don’t think I ever used so many vulgar words at one time in my entire life. We went at it, me with vicious comments and Kishin with statements on what he called “reverse psychology”. It literally a verbal battle, but luckily ended after about a half an hour. A deep hatred for Kishin grew on mine, but after a week or so it died. There was to be a melee of me, Correk and PZ123 against Kishin and Ansem, though that didn’t get too far. I ended up having a great duel against Kishin, and I still say its one of my favorite fights even when I suffered a lost to Kishin’s Vahn. As time went on, I began to like Kishin, and formed a slight friendship with him. Once in a while I’d talk to him on AIM, and every so often I still do. Soon the school closed, though a new one was opened. I had gotten some real training here finally, but not too much as soon I graduated and became a teacher there. That was shortly lived though, as this second one closed also. But, something good came out of it; my training school. That shall be told about in another chapter though, as the next one will concern with one of the favorite things of my life. Chapter three son to come! ^_^

Re: My Second Life-A memoir of my time here at ZU
Hey I read your Link's little brother series as it was coming up, well mostly. It was good, albeit repetative(sp) you did a good job making things serious, and humorous all at the same time, something my fic lacks, come to think of it, my fic has never been serious, ah but enough about me. I'll probably read your next chapter as well.

Re: My Second Life-A memoir of my time here at ZU
Well here it is! Enjoy! ^_^
Chapter 3: My Zelda Fics Ahhhh, the things I treasure oh so much. I things I have devoted so much of my time and life too. The things that have wasted half of my total time on my computer. The things I love so much to type. The things that I have written for nearly a year. The things that are my greatest works; my Zelda stories. One night on the Odyssey of Hyrule, I had read the Zelda fic “Child of Destiny” by Diana Koch. I sat at my computer for 2 and a half hours straight reading it and listening to music. It was absolutely amazing, the greatest story I have read in quite some time. I liked it so much, that it inspired me to begin writing my own Zelda fics… I had always enjoyed writing about kids my age and having them as the heroes in the stories I have written. Not to mention I have always had the idea of giving Link a little brother, and well, I think you know the rest! Child of Destiny greatly influenced me in writing Link’s Little Brother. A good amount of qualities and situations for stories had come from Child of Destiny. One was having the main characters friends kidnapped, and another was putting in the Goddesses to aid Mirren. Luckily though, I had typed it my own way, making it still very different from Diana Koch’s story. A few such things were new characters like Mardera the Gerudo, Taursus the minotaur, and even Zelda Little sister Faria. Also I had introduced two new weapons/powers that make Mirren was he is; the Goddesses’ Sword and the Triforce of Justice. I’m rambling right now, this is supposed to be about my life on ZU, and so far it hasn’t even been mentioned in this chapter! Don’t worry though, I’ll start now. One day I decided to start posting Link’s Little Brother here, and see what others thought of it. I had a bunch readers at fanfiction.net at that time, and actually a few of mine friends were reading it. I had gained a couple more readers here; my biggest was my good bud Kokiri Kid. He had read every chapter I posted and always told me his thoughts and comments of the fic; including all the mistakes I made. My God that guy was amazing! He managed to spot out every single, danged mistake that there was! If it were spelling, grammar, relations to the Zelda series or anything he found it and reported it. It went from spelling sorceresses wrong to noticing that how Zelda hugged Mirren after the one battle her dress would get all bloody. Man I laughed at this, and even harder when I found out he was 16. Here I was thinking “My God he’s my age and he can find every stinkin’ mistake with ease!” While in reality the guy was a teenager!! Boy was I naďve about ages when I first came here. Once I finished posting Link’s Little Brother, I began putting up the second fic, Mirren’s Final Battle. Here I got a lot more fan support. After I had posted my first chapter I had four new readers comment on it, which astonished me while making me exultant at the same time. I continued posting the chapters, but when the night of Monday June 30th came along, the forums changed, and my thread was gone. I created a new one though, and then gained another three new readers, Nova Dragon, bloody archer and William Zelda4_Ever. They all read all the chapters I posted, and always commented and complimented me on them. It was funny too, because at times my chapters were so long I needed to post halves of them into two posts because some wouldn’t fit on one post!!

Re: My Second Life-A memoir of my time here at ZU
Heh, no prob Sear ^^
Here's chapter 4, enjoy. Chapter 4: Mad Thread Spree!!! Boy I remember during those first few weeks I was here. I loved this place half to death, all I wanted to was post. That resulted in the abundant amount of threads I produced all over, essentially in the Zelda forums though. I remember sitting at school after finishing my exams thinking about new threads I can make and where I could post…Ha! A lot of them were what might considered to be worthless today, threads of the “If you could…” and “What would you…” style. One example of those threads was the one where you could post what item you’d most like to have, or my Volvagia vs. Valoo thread, which actually got pretty popular and got a bunch of posts in it. Others though actually served some purpose *I don’t know maybe they did maybe they didn’t*. One that could’ve been useful was the one for uses of Zelda items in the world today. I remember thinking up of numerous ideas, and posting them all. A funny thing occurred in that thread. I had suggested using the Longshot to get kitties that were stuck in trees out of them. A few people thought that it meant shooting the kitties with the thing and brining them back. Man I laughed rather hard at that, I had a lot of explaining to do… Probably my favorite thread that I made during my thread spree was my “War of the Monsters” thread. I had wrote down the name of every single boss from Ocarina of Time, Majora’s Mask and Wind Waker, and told others to vote for who they think would win if they all got in one giant brawl. Lots of people voted for the obviously prodigious Ganon and Majora, but there were other ones too. I had seen someone vote for Twinmold, I saw Twinrova, I saw a vote for King Dodongo, Puppet Ganon, The Helmaroc King, Ghoma from Ocarina of Time and many many others!! I ended up voting for Ganondorf from Ocarina of Time, mainly because he’d be nearly impossible to hurt and all those energy bolts and massive punches! Especially that Dark Hole, which now wouldn’t be so easy to reflect back at him! Heh, I made a lot of threads. Let’s see what I can remember: The War of the Monsters Thread, the “If you could have one item…” thread, the one for the uses of item in our world, my Volvagia vs. Valoo thread, my ramble of how great Epona is, my thread for the worthlessness of red and green potions in the Wind Waker, the best magical spell one, my “Where would you live in Hyrule…” thread… To name a few. Man I could act like such a n00b at times back then!!

Re: My Second Life-A memoir of my time here at ZU
...Good god man. That's some detail...did you write this stuff down when they happened?
I remember the first few weeks of me being at ZU...they happened to be the same few weeks as your first ones...and I remember all of that... I'm not really sure how we made that many posts, but I managed to keep more posts than you (Until I went to summer camp that is...)! As I recall, we both were up to around 50 per day...freaky... Anyways, as always, good writing, and...to keep with my grammar Nazi ways as you mentioned...I must find something...you check what you write more carefully, don't you? (Time passes) AHA! Quote:

Here's chater 5, which is quite funny at times. Chapter 5: Getting to know everyone My first few weeks here were good. By posting a lot in all the different forums, I got to see more of the members. I saw who they were, how they acted, what their attitudes were, and what others thought of them also. The list goes on and on of the first bunch of people I can remember seeing, for God’s sake when I joined there were over 5000 members. Sure like half of them have posted like 2 posts or nothing, but a good deal of other members were big posters here, or ones that grow into big posters. One person who I still can recall is Aoshi-Sama, who today here on the forums, is Mercutio. I swear, I had seen that guy posting around a bit, and just by his avy and sig I could tell he was probably one of those real thinkers guys with a lot of wisdom and astuteness within their minds. One of those kind of people with good judgment, someone who could break up an argument, and someone who saw things are they morally should be. But then there was another side to guy, and while its no where near bad, it just kinda me give the -_- face once in a while. Seeing his other posts, I remember that he would always disagree with me. Every single notion and idea and theory I had he’d always be there to either contradict, totally disagree or prove it wrong somehow someway. I swear, a while ago when I finally found out that he was Aoshi-Sama, I im-ed him and said: “I finally found out that you used to be Aoshi-sama today, and the first thing I said was “Hey I remember that guy! He always contradicted every God-danged thing I said!”” Heh, but still, I love ya Merc ^_^ Another person was Mute. I really don’t have too much to say about him, but he was always a nice guy to me. If he agreed or liked what I would post, he would compliment me on it. He had a benign attitude towards me many times, and I had gained a heck of a lot of respect for the guy over the weeks. I also really liked his sig. Now who else? Oh, right- drumsofdoom. Ohhhhh lord. God I can’t tell you the amount of things I could ramble on about him right here, so I’ll be brief. I had met him while training at PZ’s school, which I must say he made quite the impact there. He joined exactly a week after me, and I can remember always being ahead of him in posts. One day though, I came back on and noticed he had about 68 more posts than me all of a sudden. I was a tad bit shocked, and checked out a bunch of the forums. Wouldn’t ya know it the kid had posted in nearly ever single thread in the first page of the N64 Zelda forum. Man my face just went -_-. But hey, you’re a funny guy dod, and ya always have been. I’m gonna stop now with you before I say anything too offensive. I’ve explained enough about my other buds like Princess Zelda123, Kokiri Kid and a bunch of others, not to mention right now I can’t exactly recollect all my other memories of certain people. Although I do remember that I slowly gained more and more friends like R2d2 *Jango now* Mgame88 Nova Dragon, Ansem and a multitude of other members. Well, I don’t have much else to say, so that’s it for this chapter!

An extra few posts by DoD? if I recall, that had to do with PZ's school...something of an angry altercation between him and most everyone else.
As always, very nice. |

Re: My Second Life-A memoir of my time here at ZU
Thank you ^^
Here's chapter 6 Chapter 6: The X-Treme War~~Temple This was a fun place. By that time, I had wanted to do more in the battle arena, and wanted to keep fighting opponents with Mirren. This thread had piqued my curiosity, and I eventually checked it out. I believe I came in at page two or so, and had come to see many other battlers I had known of- Malony, Mgame88, ~Isaac *Cade now* and others I didn’t know- Garnet, Mercutio AJ, Kedisar. I could post numerous more, but that certainly won’t amuse you if I do that, so I’ll continue on. This was the place where I had gotten a ton of experience and practice for battling. With my fights here I grew in the spirit of it all, and it also helped me to become a much greater dueler. I remember starting off my little storyline there by talking to Malony about the mighty Tenshi, later I had given her a bottled Fairy to heal her, and soon my fight with Tenshi began. Cade’s character had tried to freeze him with Mirren’s Ice Diamond, though that failed and he was nearly killed. Luckily I had Mirren save him, and there he unleashed the Triforce of Justice and began his duel with Tenshi. We didn’t get very far, considering Merc’s character Tskuiyama had come in to help Tenshi I believe. Here I had Mirren fight both of the powerful warriors, and in my mind those were some great fight posts between all three characters, though for some odd reason I had been perplexed or made mistakes in what had happened while fighting Tsukiyama *must be another Merc thing with me*. After a while Tenshi threw Mirren off a cliff, but Goldwing *Mirren’s original monster companion* came and saved him, then flying the child into battle and assaulting Tenshi and Tsukiyama. Once again I began to battle Merc’s character, but eventually I just went to Tenshi. Boy those two really went at it, each one devastating the other with the most insane attacks and blows ever. Mirren had been supposedly killed by Tenshi, though the boy had escaped his adversary’s mighty attack and fooled him. Mirren then pretty much sliced his face into two, although that still didn’t finish Tenshi off. One more time Mirren blasted Tenshi with a final attack- one heck of an energy beam from the Goddesses’ Sword. Still, it wasn’t enough, and soon Mirren was killed. I had him come back to life, but accept defeat to Tenshi and fly off on Goldwing… Yeah, so I suffered yet another defeat to one of Kishin’s characters, but it sure as heck was fun, and I’d say some of my best fighting at that time. Besides, I’ll get Kishin or Tenshi one day. That’s right Kisshy, I’m gonna getcha………. GONNA GETCHA! ^_^

Mirren, I want to say you are very smart and intelligent. You are the person who inspired me to sign up on the forums, and to visit this site everyday. I try to keep up with you, but you have posted a lot, and I don't have much time to sit around the computer to post. Anyways, always keep up the good work.

Re: My Second Life-A memoir of my time here at ZU
Heh, thanks
Here's chapter 7. It's somewhat boring, but the next few shall be better *remembers he's gotta work on them* Chapter 7: The Avy Shop One day, my older cousin had come over my house. I was on the computer as usual, and he had showed me something cool. He said he made all of his avys for his forum on Paint, and then showed me the very simple basics to do so. I was extremely happy; I could finally make my own things! I felt so dependant on other before asking them to make me sigs, avys and banners, but not anymore! I had quickly switched my current avatar made by dantesgirl and used a Young Link one I made. Though that one stunk, and I quickly made another one and put it up. This was easily one of my favorite avatars: my Hamtaro one. My one friend loved it, and I did too at the time. I was talking to Irish Samurai on AIM one day, and he suggested that I make a shop to make avys for others. I did, and amazingly after a day of no responses, I had a few customers post some requests. One was by one of those people who post once and never return, I had made one of Link from Super Smash Bros. for him. Another was for my good friend PZ123, which was a pic of Super Smash Bros. Melee Zelda with a green background. The other one was by Jabun *who also was a bud of mine* requesting one of Hamtaro though with blue hair instead of orange. I made them all, and my customers liked them. PZ helped me a lot in the shop. I hadn’t had imagestation at that time yet, and she hosted the avys and then gave the people the url’s to use them. After a while Jango had come in and asked for one of Jango Fett from Star Wars. That was my last customer, after that it died. I had it closed, and then stopped making stuff for others. I don’t really care too much though, after all I got a little success with the business, and now I’m still making all my sigs, avys and banners. I’ve learned more to making them, and now they’re getting better and better and better. All on the simple old Paint!

Re: My Second Life-A memoir of my time here at ZU
Yah I kinda noticed. Sorry 'bout that, it's all fixed though, and here's chapter 8!! I think you guys like thism one, especially Battle Arena members...
Chapter 8: My Training Grounds After I had left PZ’s school, I had thought that I was a decent teacher in the ways of RPG dueling. My students there said I was good, and so did other friends and fellow BA members. While talking to Ansem on AIM one day, he said we should make our own school. I was reluctant at first, mainly because I didn’t think it’d succeed. Well, as usual I was wrong! Anyways I agreed with my old buddy, and we created it. I was the master there, while Ansem was the second-in-command whatever. I used Mirren for the training, and Ansem used his character Brock. It started off very nicely. We were accepting only five students at a time, and that’s what we got. We had r2d2, Dr. Casey, RaZoR LeAf, bloody archer and Nova Dragon *Kanakai at the time*. It was nice, our training sessions went well, and all the students participated somehow. Some of them were already incredible battlers, like bloody archer and Casey, always having a ton of description and decently long posts. It was a lot of fun doing that. My first student to graduate was bloody archer. I had a battle with my character Urdan against her going for her final lesson, but once the training battle between Nova Dragon and Ansem ended, Ansem left. I appointed bloody archer as the new assistant master, but soon she too left, the entire forums in fact… With that all, I had gained a new student-~Isaac, who would later become of a great ZU bud of mine. The next student to graduate was Nova Dragon, who I had graduated after a duel between Mirren and her character Lanasakai. Dr Casey soon graduated once a battle between a griffin and him ended, and also my old friend Kokiri Kid had finally returned from summer camp. He began to train, and the times went on. As they went on, Jabun and Irish Samurai began training there, and from then on it was a lot of work. I was constantly giving them battles against giant monsters and Zelda beasts. Finally though, I decided to make them all fight an army of monsters from Ocarina of Time. I did that twice actually, giving me a good deal of time to relax…Though that soon ended once those gigantic battles finished. Irish Samurai soon graduated, and Bahamut became my new student. Actually, I also had Shufinya and Purplehawk, though they did nothing. Windwaker was another new student at that time, and did a good deal of training there. More students came, like Shire_Elf and SearanoX, which I was shocked to see there. He was already an incredible battler, and never did expect to see him come there and do so much training!! My trainings quickly began to turn into battles against bigger, more advanced monsters. These were for my students that had trained for a while now-like Bahamut. He fought against a multitude of beast, ranging from a giant spider crab to a giant cobra to a wyvern!!! The hype of it though began to die, and I got one final member-Sir Auron. He had about ten lessons there, until finally the school died out. And it’s been resting in peace ever since…

Thank you Jace ^^

I don't really consider myself obsessed with the forums. What I am obsessed with is kicking Brock Lesner's butt. I swear I'm gonna find that big pile of poo one day, and I'm gonna make him cry like a lil girl!!! Heh, funny I was on the topic of Brock, because this chapter includes him!! Chapter 9: The wrestling thread I love the WWE. So, one day I decided to make a thread on it. Fun stuff lemme tell ya. It had actually soon been merged with some other thread or made into the Official Wrestling Thread by lozzie. At first it had gotten numerous replies, some people were saying it was dumb and they didn’t like it-or saying they loved it. One that surprised me was DrewBalla. I was shocked to hear that he was a wrestling thread! I remember him saying Goldberg was lame or something, and I called him a pencil necked geek for it. The first thing SearanoX said: “Making fun of a mod=bad” God did I laugh at that. Luckily Drew could see that I was merely quoting the legend Classy Freddy Blassie, who had sadly died during that time. The thread got very popular, gaining more and more members to continuously post in it like rvdrvd2003 and Smouthboy1 *Scott Gordon now* Man we had so many discussions on the WWE in that thing. Every paper view I’d do a thing where you’d post your predictions for who would win the matches, and see who’d do the best. I think this was done three or four times then that idea just slumped. Me and Smouthboy1 were the biggest posters in that thread. Constantly we were putting up announcements of the business or posting news on what had currently happened. One time I did this gigantic post with a ton of info. I believe it had the thing of the Undertaker’s father dying, how Charlie Haas’s face got badly injured from a kick by Shelton Benjamin, the report on that Rikishi was out for eye surgery, how Test needed stitches in his ear after he put on Scott Steiner’s headed gear and had it taken off, how RVD hurt his knee from a doing a kick at a show, and of Goldberg’s ordeal of tripping and getting caught in the ropes. Another thing that transpired was the thing with Brock Lesner. A few days after my birthday I went out and bought the video “Brock Lesner- Here comes the Pain”. I watched the whole thing in one night, and had the urge to talk about Brock then. I ended up making this really long post about one of my favorite memories of him- when he took two chair shots from Mat and Jeff Hardey, not blocking them at all and didn’t fall down. Here’s an excerpt from that post: “I will never forget the one chair-shot Jeff Hardey pulled off tat night. I swear I was amazed at him and Brock. That was the absolute loudest chairshot I had ever heard in my entire life of watching wrestling, that thing just echoed throughout the whole arena!! Yes it was loud, but there's something even more amazing about it. When you watch it, no matter what angle you see it at, there is absolutely no evidence of Brock ever blocking it. He took it full force, and didn't block it at all. Now what's so incredible about that was the force Jeff used. Jeff put every bit of his power into that, and literally smacked Brock as hard as he possibly could. You can even see that after he hits Brock, Jeff falls down from the force. And even with not blocking it one bit, and the shot at full force, Brock didn't fall, and he wasn't even fazed.” Another thing was that I always talked about the screw-ups from paper views. Here’s some from one post about Summerslam “More screw ups. That was so funny was Kane tripped on the top rope and fell. Man he should've just stayed down to make it look like he was supposed to fall. God what a doof!! The funniest thing though, was when Goldberg came out. There's the fireworks, the crowd cheering, and Goldberg steps through the sparks. Punch punch, kick, punch punch, kick fall!! Oh my God I laughed sooooooooooooo hard when he fell. If you saw it you could notice how his one ankle slipped and he just collapsed to the side. God Goldberg is such a dorkchop!! Now finally a few things about that Elimination Chamber. I couldn't believe how incredible this was. Did anyone notice that when Goldberg speared Jericho through the plexi-glass, it didn't break the first time!? Instead he had to push him once more to break through it. That was awesome, proves that wrestling is real at times.” One thing I greatly appreciate about the thread, was that because of it I became buds with Smouthboy1. Truly we are two of ZU’s biggest wrestling fans, and constantly we are chatting on AIM. Sometimes about every day ordinary things, other times about wrestling: ZeldaWWELife: r u a Kane fan?
