SotW and WPotM: Discussion Thread: OLDER THAN BEEJAY

I'd be cool with trying it out again.

I'm not against the idea, but I don't think it really matters.

Like Alex, I don't think it does **** to make it anonymous, but that also means it shouldn't matter to me since I don't believe the outcome will change. The only thing I can think of that might be positive is appeasing the zomg-popularity-contest-argh-this-sucks people.

I don't think It'll make a difference, especially for you Liah. Since you draw all of your stuff it's obvious what's yours.

It's very good. You've asked that question a million times.

I don't know whether I should keep my entry as is or switch it to this, but then that means I've switched my entry three times and there's more Metroid pieces.

There's more going on in that Samus signature, which is why I prefer it compared to the Altaïr one. It's also very different from the other Metroid entry, so I wouldn't have a problem there either.

That's my point, yeah. Most of our regular entries I could tell who made what, myself included, so I don't see anonymous entries working out how people think it would. People can cry popularity contest, but there's been the likes of, say, Viral Maze who with his first ever SotW entry, won. But, like I already said, if it doesn't make a difference I don't why it shouldn't go ahead. I'm good either way.

Edit: Actually, I think we're gonna have whiners either way because if we go anonymous, I betcha people are gonna get all "but you can tell who made what, so the usual winners are still bound to win!" and if we don't, we'll get "aw, man, it's all about username and not talent D:"

Eh, I'd just ignore the whiners anyway. There's no reason to whine about whether or not the entries are anonymous. People will vote for what they like the best. It isn't serious or important, so it doesn't even matter if people happen to route for a favourite sig maker either.

I dig your mentality, GKANG, and I agree with ya. If I could have my way, I'd rather people just have fun. SotW is a ****load of fun.

I think it might be a bit harder on the mods, though, since they're trying to run something to cater to a whole lot of people, but I guess therein lies the truth of the matter--you can't please everyone.

FROM THIS MOMENT ON SIGNATURE OF THE WEEK WILL NO LONGER BE RUNNING IN THAT WHOLE "VOTING" WAY THAT IT'S CURRENTLY BEING RAN IN. I think people should take the SOTW competitions seriously but at the same time just have fun with it. I think people should have more of the 'Okay I'm going to try even harder next time' attitude instead of crying about someone winning for whatever reason they think that person may have won for. This is Competetion People!

The newby or mediocre graphic artist won't ever get better if they get babbied and complimented on their work all the time, even when it sucks. There wouldn't be much of a point in having this 'Competitive Graphics' section if we cater to everyones babying. What's the point of entering these comps if you're just going to whine about losing? I say keep running everything the same and let the brats whine. If you don't like competition, don't compete!

OR, discussion of a running contest should be forbidden. The only place where criticism would be allowed would be the small showcase thread. That way, nobody has to witness complaining People only get two posts worth of criticism in there, anyway.

I think there's too much feedback in the discussion thread x: Everyone keeps changing their entries because of it.

As for this one time though, I prefer the Joker one. Probably because the guy's flow is headed to the right of the picture, but it ends up going to the left anyway.

Yeah, I prefer the Joker one (except change it to the coloured version!).
