The Zelda Universe Graphics Competition - Archive!

Alright, so those of you who signed up earlier, read this. The first round of this competition is going to be a signature, of any size within ZU limits, based on the character Osaka from the anime "Azumanga Daioh". You don't have to use that image, that was just so that those who don't know who she is know who she is.

Rules:
1. You are allowed to include text, but do not include your username. A large problem in the judging of contests in the past is that people often vote for a person, rather than their signature, and superior signatures have been scorned in favour of friends.
2. The same goes for similar things, such as showing off your work in the showcase. Obviously, complete fairness cannot be obtained, due to people knowing of the styles of others etc., but it's always best to aim high, so please keep your submissions to yourself (and me, as I'll be sorting them).
3. The signatures should be sent to me by PM. Do not post them in this thread.
4. Anyone having been found breaking one of these rules may have their signature rejected and be required to make a new one, or in extreme cases will be removed from the competition.

The first round will operate by means of a series of smaller segments of about 2-4 signatures each (depends how many of you actually turn up with a signature), the winners of which will advance to the next round.

The deadline for this round is December 10th. Hope to see your signatures soon.

My wrist and lower arm are acting up something terrible right now, so I need to greatly reduce my usage of the mouse for fear of developing carpal tunnel. I also have some more important graphic art to worry about later on, so I can't be spending my mouse-hand more than I should.

I humbly leave the competition and pray you'll understand why I chose to.

I believe it to have alittle more insight to what is going on than Sig 1. From a person's point of view, who has no idea who Osaka is from, or what she is like signature 2 implies some what her personality.

Clearly they both used the same pic and made a lot of the same stylistic decisions, but execution-wise #2 is a bit better. The alignment of sig 1 is pretty off in a lot of places, and Osaka's color got pretty drowned out by the chosen color scheme. :3

It's a lot more interesting, the colors are blended well (nothing really swamps anything out or makes it seem mundane), and it's just very catchy. The right side of the pic is a bit prominent, but your eyes quickly get drawn back to the main subject again.

#2's good, but it's just feels... flat. :/ #1's a lot more vibrant, y'kno. :3
