[Discussion] Monthly Creative Collab

Dearest Creativity Corner patrons!




Now that the monthly art contests are gone, I was thinking about something we could do in place of it. Something we had a brief conversation about a long while back was a weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly themed art activity. We could pick a theme or artist or art style or other start point to use as a seed for making a periodic group art show. So... poetry, music, drawings, all the things we already post in the Creativity Corner.

This sounds freaking awesome

A poet could work with a graphic artist or artist artist and get a cool thing to go with their poem, people could make standalone artwork...it'd be a lot of fun I'm just imagining the possibilities :3

I want to go to there.

I for one love the idea. How about we have more then one in a each possition
such 5 people for artist and 6 people for peom.

Yes yes yes!
And I think we can be very flexible, too, like allowing multiple pieces per person or partners ~ since the point is to have fun with it and work together for something interesting to see.

I'm thinking we'd leave it really flexible, though; so there'd be no limit to the number of people that can submit works. And a person could do a poem and a painting, it wouldn't have to be just one item.

To keep things more interesting, I was hoping that everybody who wants to participate will keep their art work (visual, music, writing, etc.) under wraps until the 2nd of July. You can use this thread to team-up or discuss it, of course! I just think it would be more interesting if the unveiling is a bit of a surprise.

Argh, I chose the second option in the poll by semi-accident! Actually, I am more focused on writing my Halloween story right now---I know that's far away, but it's a long story---but if I can somehow scribble some coherent words on virtual paper by the 1st, I'll definitely enter the result into this "show!"

As for a theme...hm...what about childhood memories of summer? Or just summer?

I'd really like to know what the theme is before I say whether I'll do it or not. I'm definitely a fan of this entire idea, but I don't want to try to force myself to make something that I have no interest in making, y'know?

Yeah I'm with Caleb, I'd really love to do something like this but I can't say for certain if inspiration will strike. I don't want to promise you guys I'll do something and let you down, or produce something of poor quality and bring it down as a whole :/

I like that one! I think we should make a list of potential themes that we can pick from every month. So this one will definitely go on the list.

For the first one, though, I think we should pick a theme that is as flexible as possible so that we can give the artists a lot of freedom.

My initial thought was also summer; but after thinking about it a bit, I was hoping we could pick something even more general.

And.

Something that can be related to Zelda so that fanarts will easily fit into the showcase.

The theme (I think I referred to it as a "seed" in the beginning) is really not meant to be restrictive ~ it's something to keep our works connected.

It's just something to have fun with or bring attention to your work on ZU. I wouldn't say it's something to stress about, really, in terms of quality.

For our first theme, to keep it flexible (like I said, I want artists to feel that they have a lot of freedom for interpretation) I think that we should go with something very loose.

Like... "Courage, Power, and Wisdom" ~ so you could do Zelda fanart or short fanfiction very easily, or you could pick one of the concepts to use in a totally un-Zelda-related way. Writers and visual artists and musicians would hopefully be able to find a connection between a theme like that, and their own work.


Does that theme sway any of you one way or the other?
