WRITING CONTEST DISCUSSION THREAD II

The old thread was getting pretty old, so we had it "released".

Welcome to the new discussion thread for the ZU Writing Contests! Take a gander around, if you will... See that? Cupholders. We have cupholders now. I bet you didn't see that coming.

This is the place to talk about the writing contest (past and upcoming ones), other Writing events, and to chat with your writing pals about those types of things. If you want to talk about writing in general, or if you want to interact with other artsy types from the other CC boards, the Writers' Pad and Creative Combination, respectively, are places you should check out!

I'm confused as to how one would go about entering a script for the contest and have it maintain any semblance of format, unless they BBCode it out the wazoo.

Yeah, that'd be the best way to do it. I'm also not sure how the word limit works in that regard (we usually don't have a limit, but I'm imposing a max this month to see how it works out), since I've never written a full script myself.

Blech, all that formatting. Maybe I'll sketch out an idea for a short story or something. It'll be a nice way to warm up before starting actual writing work.

I'd be willing to accept that, as long as they were view-able in-browser. I think, at least for the contests, I'd be more willing to allow the entries to be off site (whereas, in Writing, the forum, I'd prefer that everything be on ZU, but).

Nah, trying to deal with attachments and such doesn't seem worth the effort, much as it'd be neat to have some more feedback on some of my projects. Not a big deal to just write a short story or something.

In that vein, I wrote 600 words this morning as a warm-up, so I hope y'all are ready to lose this contest.

Well, folks, I am currently working to restore the January voting thread and will then restore the February information thread. Thanks for your patience.

As far as the deadline for February entries, I have decided to leave it as the 28th, but I will be more lenient as far as extensions. Not sure why, since the server crash shouldn't have affected those already working on their entries. But consider it a Valentine's Day gift!

If you already sent me your February entry, you will need to PM it to me again. Thanks!

Vote in the January Contest! (If you entered the January Contest, please PM me to let me know which entry you submitted, as I no longer have the PM's each of you sent me to help me to identify the respective authors.)

Learn about and enter the February Contest! I will be more lenient with the deadline this time around due to the server crash and annihilation of the original thread, leaving newbies and visitors in the dark about the existence of a February Writing Contest over the course of three days. Also, if you already submitted an entry, you will (obviously) need to PM it to me again.
