Guys, it's September! (Aaaaaaaaaaaah.) You know what that means! It's time for...
~ANOTHER WRITING CONTEST~
Below you'll find all the information you'll need to know about the September contest:
Theme!
The theme for this month is piracy, ye scarvy dogs!
The theme this month was chosen by FightingTorque, one of the winners of the August contest. Why, this month is host to Talk Like a Pirate Day, so this is a bit of a good fit, ain't it? (September is also host to: Teddy Bear Day, Swap Ideas Day, and Elephant Appreciation Day.) You can write about anything that you believe has something to do with the theme~ So, you know, if you want to write a pirate-zombie-action/adventure-comedy-romance story, then you're all game! Whether it be a story about those that roam the sea, or of rogues and thievery, it's all up to you!
Deadline!
The deadline to get entries in this month is October 2, 2011. So, get your stories/poems in by then or you'll be walking the plank!. Voting will take place a bit after that (and will last a week or two, I think).
Rules!
Time for the rules~ You can submit anything you want as long as it has a minimum word count of 250 words (note: this is a preferred, minimum length and may not apply to poetry). Also, I'm going to put a maximum word count on for this contest, just to see how it all works out. How does a 4000 word roof sound? Don't go over that, yeah! Make sure your entry is appropriate and not too steamy. Also, try not to write anything offensive (or I will challenge you to a duel to defend this contest's dignity).
You can submit your entry in any form you want. Short fiction, poetry, whatever you want! Just make sure that when you submit it it's in the format that you'd like it to be displayed as. Re-submissions or corrections are accepted as long as they're before the deadline.
Prizes!
Whoever wins gets a banner (banners banners banners!) made by either me or whoever I may end up employing to do that. This month the winner(s) of the contest will not get to choose the theme for out next writing shindig. This choice has been made in order to get the contests running more smoothly in future. I feel like it'll make things more flexible, so. The theme for the October contest will hopefully be decided in a more community-involved and painless way!
How to enter!
To enter, all you have to do is mosey on down and shoot Holden a PM with the title September Writing Contest Entry. Remember to fix the format to how you want the story/poem to be presented and that re-submissions are only accepted before the deadline.
So, there you are! Get writing and have fun! And as always, stay safe! Note: If something does happen to you while writing your entry, be sure to leave your drafts and notes somewhere convenient so that your family can finish your entry for you and make it a best-seller.
Also, just for fun, this is this post translated into pirate:

I'm going to pass on this one for two reasons: 1) I need to get back to work on my novel, and 2) I hate pirates. Even though "piracy" doesn't force entries to have to do with arrrgh-pirates. Still. There's my first reason. However, I look forward to reading some entries! (Which is ironic since I hate arrrgh-pirates, and I can be certain that most of the entries will involve arrrgh-pirates.) I'll try to vote this time.

Little thing! Moving the deadline to Monday, the 26th of September, just so you all have that weekend. Going to be doing something different with voting this month, as well as with choosing the theme, so look out for that.
Extending entries to the end of the month (Oct 2 so you have the weekend...) because of the site being dumb and having very few entries, yup yup~ Next contest will begin this weekend and voting will run at the same time. I'll be choosing a good little theme since no one has volunteered one. Will definitely pursue a more involving process with more energy next time. ._.
Well since the date was extended (again) I might submit something this time around!
I didn't submit earlier because I've been really busy lately, but I've had an idea in mind for a while now.
Please don't eat my head off, because I know I kinda said I might, but man, I've been getting busier and busier (plus with ZuNoWriMo) so there's not a chance I can make it.
Can't wait to read the entries, though.
