SoulofDeity: Use actual renders. I can tell it must have taken a while to render those all yourself, when you could just go to PR and a few other sites and get it all done in a few minutes. Those renders also have way better quality. Beginner.
Ignis: Needs more contrast. What's pulling your sigs down is mostly the contrast, but this can be fixed by taking that top layer set to screen or whatever off. Kinda hard to class your style, but I'll say solid nov.

It's annoying, really. No one wants to hear your 'class system' and how you rank everyone 'novices' or 'beginners' because uh, it's not helping.

^I don't mind hearing it, but I'd much rather it go to VM or whatevz. Like, there's a thread where people specifically ask for critique, so sure, go nuts there.

There is just NO POINT if he ranks everyone 'novs and beginners' with no change.

I didn't even know what a "nov" was, lol. It is sort of elitist though.

Classing helps people understand how good they are, how they can improve, their strengths, weaknesses, etc. It doesn't hurt anybody.

I'm familiar with the standards/classifications, have been for a while, though I've never been one to follow them lol. I mean, it's great if people wanna stamp their work with standards or whatever, but my thought is to do that if people request to have it done. Furthermore, I find that more often than not people judge work differently, like Killington stated his own sig was a high nov, but I'd probably rank it a bit lower than that if I were to cast some sorta judgement.

Anyways, I wanna know what our modly person thinks here. Generally, I tend to think keep the voting threads to just, well, voting, and the discussion to the discussion thread. But if this ranking/class system is irritating people, mayhap it's best to keep that to either direct critique threads and/or to VM. Hm, GKANG?

edit: Goodness, I don't think Killington should get in TROUBLE for classing lol xD, but perhaps practice some tact here and keep that sorta thing to a thread where it's specifically requested.

The problem is basically that DK you're showing your opinion as a solid rank. It's the way you're giving out basically scores to everyone who isn't asking for them that's irking people. You can tell, generally, that people don't like the comments you give. They're not even constructive a lot of the time too. There's not really any point.

I'm not giving CnC, that's for the CnC thread (which really, should be it's own subforum and should never be even near that inactive). In the SOTW thread I was just giving quick comments. If you want me to edit and make them giant paragraphs full of CnC and ****, then fine, I will.

It's not like it's hurting anybody.

Honestly, Killington, these SotW are for fun and if your other forums are so great, well hooray for you, go there and stay here. But these aren't hardcore graphic artists, or whatever it is you're wanting, so stop with the oh-but-other-places-do-so-and-so. You classing people is telling them how good they are and that's not what these comps are for. No, it's not direct critique like OH BUT WHERE IS THE FLOW, but it's still a form of judging a piece by your standards which is irking people. Stop that.

No, but really-- I don't mind his comments at all. I'm not familiar with the other forum's standards or their ranking ideology, so I'm pretty indifferent to what Killington judges each signature as. Still, he provides some of his thoughts on each of them, so that's always welcome.
I definitely get irked when something much more annoying happens like some random user casting two votes.

Help if people want it, that's not a difficult concept to understand. Obviously INGIS doesn't mind it so kewl, feel free to discuss with him. But others like Insaney have said don't, so unless you've been given the green light, or it's a thread specifically made for rankings and classes or whatever, it's probably unwelcomed. It's one thing to want to help, but when that help is unwanted, then don't bother.

Killington, I don't have anything against you. I think you're pretty skilled at making sigs and I'm not afraid to acknowledge that. However I must admit that your classing system and you offering scrutinising critique where it isn't asked for somewhat annoys me. Now I'm not familiar with this classing system and I have not seen it being used during my time making sigs on either ZU or VGRC when I was active there, but it does make me feel as if what I've made falls very low on the scales due to some arbitrary standards I'm not aware of.

I take part in these contests solely to have fun and give myself the opportunity to get creative. Just because someone my not make sigs the way you do does not mean you have the right to "class" them however you see fit. And I do not appreciate you telling me I need to do more tutorials when firstly I haven't asked for your advice and secondly you don't know my level of expertise.

The reason i am not submitting a sig like this for this weeks' theme:



(which I just made in the span of about twenty minutes) is not because I lack the skill or expertise as you've concluded and need to do more tutorials, but because I don't find that type of sig aesthetically pleasing and it does not let me express my creativity the way I want to. I have gone through that style in the past, but seeing as how this contest is mostly for fun I like to try new things and experiment, which may or may not work out for a particular piece. But it's fun.

Those are my two cents. I hope I haven't offended you but I needed to say this, and I hope I've at least helped explain why your posts irk some people.
