Chibi is game for this battle anytime after 1pm EST tomorrow.
Although, I'm willing to concede my place to any one of the lassies who may have volunteered before me, as long as their still willing to participate. I never could find an official list of participants . . . meh.

Re: Haiku Assault Discussion
Oh finally, this thread's up. There was something I wanted to say...
Last time around, words like "sail/sale"... there was some confusion about how many syllables such a word had (one or two, obviously. I was outnumbered in saying two). The argument was basically that some words have a different number of syllables in different accents. Most of the people who said sail only had one syllable disagreed. I think I now know of a few words which this does apply to, excluding words ending in ale/ail. First example: Mirror (as either mira or meer).

Re: Haiku Assault Discussion
Mirr-or. 2 sylables. The arguments arose when people were using odd annunciations, or lazy ones. Every word in the english language has a set number of syllables. I think dictionary.com tells the number of syllables in a word.

Re: Haiku Assault Discussion
Not always. There are two different ways it can be pronounced (Although this is more of a regional thing rather than an accent thing)

Or if we were being really pedantic, we'd do it all in Japanese.
![]() (Also, the plural of mora is morae, not moras. Jus' saying.)

Re: Haiku Assault Discussion
"Boi" is a lazy pronounciation which is commonly used. The correct pronounciation is Boo-ee.

"boi" is the correct pronunciation for places like the UK and Australia, which more often than not follow the British spelling and pronunciation of words. Like I said; it's regional.

Re: Haiku Assault Discussion
\Well that's what I've been told by my english teachers. Despite North Americans utterly butchering the english lan there are actualy a lot of words that we didn't get lazy on.
Although "boi" is a better pronuciation for jokes! What did the catholic priest yell when he fell off the boat? A: Throw me bouy! Anyways, let's try to focus on getting things set up first. Then we can masterly debate pronuciation.

Re: Haiku Assault Discussion
Chibi is also up for Japanese haiku. Just got back from Japan for a year, was semi fluent before going, and now fluent (heavy kansai-ben though).
^^ That would be epic, if we could post haiku in Japanese! Of course, they wouldn't be traditional because the nature of this game would likely make us stray from writing on Nature, but it'd be hella worth it, and fun! 負け犬のPower Shotに必ず勝つわよ! (Trans: I'll surely win over that loser Power Shot. Also, if we're going to do it this way, we should include translations for the people who don't speak the lingo.)
