Gender Wars 2009: Haiku Assault

The lingusitic's battle royal is now open. In this competition contestants shall take turns posting haiku poems relating somehow to the Gender Wars. Because of the nature of this competition, this thread will be used for setting up battle times as oposed to posting the actual subbmissions like the other battles. Please use this thread only for that purpose. All comments are do be made in the discussion thread.

Each team must subbmit their teams for this battle ASAP. I'll leave it up to the contestants to get together and figure out a time which is good. (*please note, since this is the last competition, and will take some time to organize, I will be deciding on a finish date once things get moving, so please be quick!*)

Now here's how it's going to go down. Once the matchups are decided and times are arranged the threads will be made. Each thread will be open for 1 hour. I will toss a coin to decide who will be given the first post in each thread (I'll be honest about it, but if you guys really want me to I'll do it on webcam I guess). Once the thread opens, that persn will have 7 minutes to post a poem. If it is not done in that time, the first post is up for grabs. Once a post is made, the other person will then have 7 minutes from then to make another post. During those 7 mintues the contestant who's turn it is is the only one who may post. However once time is up the other person may go for a double psot to score big. This will continue to go back and forth for the duration of the hour, at the end of which the thread will be closed.

Originality: /15
Speed: /10
Effectiveness: /20
Structure: /20

Remember:

First, five sylables
The second is seven long
Lastly, five again

I am good for any time except any time Tuesday, Thursday, or Sunday. For actual time of day 12pm to 5 pm California time (-7 GMT) would be best for me

I might be able to do it during the week, 5-6 or 8 0r 9-10 I have started school and will not know when will be good.

I can do it on any week day after 9:00 am california time. I'll be homeschooling this year, so I'll be at home all day.

When exactly are we doing this so we can finally end the Gender Wars?

All of us school goers should know our schedules by now, so let's throw out some times and see how they fit.

How does 12pm EST (East Coast), 9am PDT (California), 6pm CEST (Norway) sound? It does not meet everyone's previous time specifications because, frankly, they would have been a little rough on Light Speed (assuming you live in Norway). But these are reasonable times of day for everyone in this thread so far (I'm also assuming we're the only participants).

Sounds good to me. I can do almost any day except weekends and fridays.

Hey Matt, sorry for the delay. The third person supposedly signed up for Team Lassie is Margar, and she's fairly hard to contact. So I've been waiting for her to PM me back... and it hasn't happened yet.

Uh no, im in the us right now. Id say im in the middle, Its CO. Right now its 12:35.

I would guess she is right now.
But I'm not worrying too much about it because it seems both teams only have 2 contestants who have shown up anyways, so things may work out.

Participants, please work out some times. We are drawing close to (and already in to for some) the start of the school year which is just going to get busier so it will be best to get this done soon.

Guys, keep in mind that the battles are one on one. (Or did we change that?) So they don't all have to be at the same time. You just have to coordinate times with the one other person.

No D, you are quite right. The battles are 1 on 1. So there will be (as it stands now) 2 battle. I would suggest trying to match up with the person nearest you to make times easier.

Looks like you're in the Mountain Time Zone for the U.S. So how does 8pm MDT (your time) 10PM EST (my time) this Friday sound? If the time of day's ok, but the day's a little iffy then we can move it around. Just let me know what works for you.

ok Kel, I'm good for friday from 6 pm-12 am, tell me what works for ya, we are both in the same timezone.

Um, I can't do friday. I have a family birthday thing to go to all evening. But...Is there a time next week you can do it?

You'll have to wait until i get my computer back. The power supply crashed and my godfather took it to fi it. It's fixed but I have to have to wait until I get it back.
