Sorry, had to. Anyways, as Margar said, keep the trash taking in there, it's a pain in the arse to sort through for planning. Also, try to keep it out of each other's HQ threads. I know this won't happen, but I would ask both teams to have some restraint and not spam up each other's threads (or pose as a female webmaster in an atempt to infiltrate the other team...Princess Karen).

Nostil, somone sugested I'll Make a Man Out of You last year as well. Good theme. However I still encourage somone to find a Man Has Needs. And for that matter, how about a little team spitirt! Lets see some banners, mascots, theme song and all that fun stuff to support your team!

Margar, sorry, not used to being surounded by so many mods, I'll avoid it in the future.

Okay, folks. It's June. We want to get the war started AND finished in July.
So we need to use this month to decide on:

• Number of battles
• Which battles
• Who will battle
• Team logos
• Official Gender wars 2009 Logo (artists...? Yo!)
• Judges
• Once battles are chosen, we need to plan the order and timetable.

I have compiled a list of all the battle suggestions thus far:

• Smash Bros. Brawl competition
• Art Melee
• Haiku-off
• Dare contest
• Singing competition
• Essay battle
• Belching contest
• Gameshow/Trivia
• Podcast Debate (possibly between team captains)
• Balloon animal-making contest (potentially hillarious or fail)
• Game Tournament: Who's the best gamer of them all?
• Graphics Competition: Who makes the best Sigs?
• Picto Search: Search for a specific pic on Google
• Podoff: Compete to make the best podcast
• Pictionary contest in isketch.net
• Destruction of character (basically a photo-altering contest)
• Animation contest
• Rap-off
• Music video competition

I think we shouldn't start this week(I dont know when it starts) because of the people who are getting the week long ban.

well seeing as the post I just made right before yours said we want to start this in JULY.....

I'm gonna advise that no more than one event be podcast related. Synching recordings is annoying, and gets worse for each extra person who needs to synch (as anybody who's been part of the podcast should know). Also, podcast stuff would need to be timed so that all participants and present organizers are available at the same time. Which is annoying.

Beyond that, I think the following events could work:

• Smash Bros. Brawl competition

  (For lack of a better term, Brawl is so last year. Also, ZU has regular Brawl contests anyway; no need for the gender wars to get involved again.)

• Art Melee

  (So simple, yet so elegant. Should be a mainstay of the competition)

• Haiku-off
• Dare contest

  (I loved this one last time)

• Singing competition

  (This one was also great)

• Essay battle
• Belching contest
• Gameshow/Trivia

  (Too many people on one podcast. Horrifying to organize)

• Podcast Debate (possibly between team captains)
• Balloon animal-making contest (potentially hillarious or fail)

  (prediction: Fail)

• Game Tournament: Who's the best gamer of them all?

  (How would you judge it?)

• Graphics Competition: Who makes the best Sigs?

  (Suggestion: incorporate as part of the art contest)

• Picto Search: Search for a specific pic on Google

  (I'm cautious. I won't say it can't work, but nor do I predict it would be a big success if we did it)

• Podoff: Compete to make the best podcast

  (Waste of time)

• Pictionary contest in isketch.net

  (I like this idea)

• Destruction of character (basically a photo-altering contest)
• Animation contest
• Rap-off
• Music video competition

We could do Zelda trivia posting style. The questions will be chosen by the managers , and someone could play game show host (Who also can help with the questions). Then the competitors have to post the correct answer first. They can use any and all resources like asking a friend or google-ing or something. Or maybe not, but who knows whether or not they'll abide by that rule, so it might be easier to allow contestants to use any resource and just make the questions really hard...

The contestants have to agree that they're being risky because if for some reason the Internet times out or something and they're not able to post the answer, they lose that question.

Stuff like that. I kinda like the Zelda trivia. =)

I don't mind the idea of trivia. But if we're going to do it I think it should be a test of their knowledge. Letting them use other recourses kind of defeats the idea of it IMO. Having said that I think if we do it it should be on the podcast and they have a limited time to answer. It still won't make it 100% sure they won't cheat, but it will make it a lot harder.

Hmm. Running it game show-ish would be hard to do. No matter how it's organized, there'll be timezone issues if there's reaction time involved.

But maybe there could still be a trivia portion? Just make some random super hard Zelda quiz. Check it on google to make sure the answers don't show up well there. The have each team post it in their hidden spot and work together to try to solve it? Maybe like pull some really random quotes from the game, and they have to find who said it. Things that won't be on google, and aren't common knowledge. Whichever team manages to answer the most would win. Or maybe not. I'm just making this up as I go along. But point is, we could probably find a way to do trivia without it having to be done like a game show.

No, we haven't.

Although it could happen. But how would it work? Or be judged? Everyone picks a Zelda character, makes a costume, and posts pictures? How would it be judged? How would you even out the fact that some costumes are harder to make then others? I mean, clearly, if we went with Link for boys and Zelda for girls, a beautiful pink dress is gonna be a lot harder to make then a green tunic. So how would we do it? How would we find a winner?

(And yeah, I'm half asleep and probably shouldn't be replying to this thread right now.)

Well, the podcast may be a little tricky to do. If we're going to do anything via podcast, I think we should do only one activity, and I'd say that's up to Margar whether or not she wants to.

I like the trivia well enough to make it the single podcast event, but what does everyone else think?

Well, maybe if we did it, it could feature all types of things. Maybe like a game show, with different categories, although it might be hard to show which categories and scores have been taken, but we could make it happen (like, everyone has a copy of the same score board and they mark their own like Bingo. The moderator of the competition would have to be diligent because in the event of confusion, it would be up to them to determine what happened.)

It's not my favourite idea. I mean, if it were "Build this costume with these specifics in two weeks," maybe, but it'd be kinda tricky for most everyone here.

I would be up for the game show being the only podcast event (although I also like the roast of the loser's captain idea. But that could be on the Next pPC if we decided to do it). Honestly, I think unless it done in some sort of live fasion (ie:VOIP) then it's either going to be too easy or crazy complicated, neither of which I think would be a good idea.

The costume contest I agree with DD on, I think she said it best. However, let it be known that it shall be discussed in the picking of events.

I know that some people already own zelda costumes so it wouldn't be fair if those people tried to do the costume contest...
I really don't think that's a great event for this competition. of course, the costumes dont HAVE to be zelda-related, but still... eh, I am not too keen on this., I can see this being an event where we'd have people sign up, then money/time/lack of initiative getting in the way and being more hassle than it's worth.

As for the trivia, I like the idea of either doing it VOIP or posting-style, sort of like the haiku battle.
