[ZUBC] "Be On the Podcast" Thread (your ideas too)- Read opening post please!

Be a part of this podcast, no matter how big or small!

First thing's first- we are NOT hiring actual permanent, full-time ZUBC staffers. From now on, all the Zelda news and Community news will be produced by us here at the ZUBC, along with a segment or two from our ever-reliable Power Shot and Hombre de Mundo... But we REALLY want YOUR content to play a major role.

Anyone can contribute meaningfully to this podcast... Here's how:

• Your feedback and suggestions- Even if you don't have the ability or desire to be on the cast, you can still listen and tell us what you think! We'd especially LOVE voice-recorded feedback. So If you have a Microphone and can get us an mp3, make it less than 90 seconds long and send it in! Post all feedback, text and sound alike in the Discussion and feedback thread.
  If you wish to remain anonymous, you may email us at zucast@zeldauniverse.net.
  
• Ideas- If you have an idea for a segment but not the ability to do it yourself, that's ok! Tell us your idea and perhaps someone else will want to pick it up and make it into something. Post it in this thread or send an email to zucast@zeldauniverse.net. We're keeping an "idea list" from which you all can choose from or get inspiration from, and we may just go on a man-hunt for people to do special projects for the ZUBC.
  
• Make yourself available- If you have microphone and the ability to send an mp3 file, let us know. Even if we don't need you now, we may later, so let us know. If you have or can get skype (it's a free program that lets you do internet conference calls), let us know too!
  
• Just Do It!- If you're feeling brave or creative that day, just go right ahead and produce something and send it in. It doesn'thave to be pretty- we can clean up the sound a little, add music or some sound effects for you ifyou want. Just let us know what we can do to help!You have a great chance of being on the cast if you just do it, make it fun, and send it in. Segments should be no longer than 4 minutes long! Try to kee it around 3. Of course, you will be given full credit for your work ^__^
  
• Writing Poetry, Music, artwork etc...- We'd love to feature some music or other art now and then. It doesn't have to be zelda related, but that would be most desirable. again, postithere or email it to zucast@zeldauniverse.net.

*When you do something for the ZUBC, it will not automatically become a permanent monthly part of the cast. But it could be a re-occuring thing, or if it gets popular enough, it could become permanent down the road.

If you've got the will and the equipment (the ability to record decent, intelligible sound and send it as an mp3 file), you've got a good chance of being on the cast. So create away, darlings! We would be most likely to air non-dated material- stuff which we can save and use in any podcast but if you've got a stellar enough idea, we'll do anything we can to make it happen. Here are some general suggestions as to the type of things we are looking for. And don't be afraid to go outside the box, too.

*Segments should be no longer than 4 minutes, but try to keep it around 3. Depending on what the segment is, you may be given more time. but this is a rare exception.

If you don't have recording abilities: If you can't actually make something for the cast but have an idea or something you'd like to see, feel free to share it here! We may still use the idea.

If you need production help: Perhaps you want to do something but don't have all the necessary music, sound effects, or equipment to complete a whole thing the way you want it to be. Don't worry! Aniday and I are the editors of this cast and we can help you in just about any way you may need to make your dream become a reality, but YOU must be the driving force behind it.

Who to Contact: Please post in this thread your initial ideas and examples/demos. Contact Awkin for any urgent questions. Once your segment is ready for production, Awkin will also be your contact man.

If you have any questions that are of more of a general nature, or have to do with our main site headquarters, Dom is another person you can contact.

Lazard's Capital Markets' Colin Sebastian claimed that a new legend of zelda title would be released this year. He claimed this because it would cause a 5% growth of sales in the video game industry (which is good for everybody). Plus, two teams have been working on Zelda since '06, and now the DS team has thrown out Spirit Tracks, now we wait for Zelda Wii. All of this info provided by Earthbounding from Youtube on part 16 of his videos...Oh and did you know Sora ltd. (the people who made SSBB) have change their name to Project Sora and hired alot more people?

Point: Earthbounding from Youtube is working hard to provide us with all of the information, clues, and speculation about Zelda Wii he can find. Watch his videos, he has 17 so far. You can get valid information from him, he's a great source. I'll keep updating information as his videos continue on.

I went to the G20 last week, and talked with both global changemakers and the chancellor the exchequer for England about the global economic situation, and the efforts to help us change it.

I was wondering on your feedback for my idea: I'm pretty much as informed as you can be about this situation, and I'm wondering if a 'Economics 101' session would be too utterly boring for the podcast even if I made it lively and interesting?

well with enough creativity, anything can be fun. and it doesn't have to be a big long segment. it could be a part of the Zelda news cast, and we could give the URL for if people want to watch the videos themselves.

Ok folks, just to clear things up in case you're a bit confused, Awkin is your man for questions about contributing to the podcast and general stuff
Dom is the guy to see for info about the ZUBC, how to listen to the podcasts, all about our headquarters on the main site, and general stuff.

of course if your question is BURNING and only one guy is online at the time, I don't think they'd ind too much if you asked either one.

I had found some things on Spirit Tracks which impressed me. I didn't get this information, Earthbounding did.

It is supposedly set in Hyrule after the Great Flood

Every time Link drives the trail (which will have the same use as the PH boat) he will be wearing his conductor outfit

You will end up encountering forks while traveling through the rails. You can change your way by pulling the lever on the bottom of the screen with the stylus.

Pull the rope on the top-right touch screen with the stylus to scare the sheep away of the track with the train horn.

There might be a new Hyrule Castle (as seen in the background of a clip) or just a dungeon layout.

Things such as controls remain completely identical to PH.

Now, Link has a new item that resembles a leaf-clover. It is a mixture of the Gust Jar from Minish Cap, the Deku Leaf from WW, and the Boomerang. It can be used to throw enemy projectile's against them, get items Link can't reach and solve puzzles.

Phantoms also make a return. Some of them can even be controlled by Link using the stylus. That can be helpful for puzzles.

The whistle button on the lower left of the screen may be a way to call the Phantom to your position.

The fair is now replaced with sparkles that appear when you touch the screen.

You can toggle from controlling the Phantom and Link when the Phantom icon appears on the touch screen. You can use the Phantom to attack powerful enemies.

Zelda is given a letter by Link supposedly in Hylian. Zelda might be Tetra. In the scene showing this, Zelda is supposedly in the Throne Room, and there are strange symbols on the walls that may mean something.

To fire the train's cannon, simply touch your target on the touch screen. Just like at PH when you beat down those wild pigs. You can also use the buttons on the panel (right side of the screen) to make the train go fast, slow, stop, and reverse. Enemies like the Skulltulas will block the path, and sometimes release hearts or rupees when beaten.

Giant bosses will require specific items. The only giant boss we know of is the Giant Crab, which is at the end of a forest themed dungeon (forest? crab?). Anyways, in this case, use the fan based clover item to throw the spiked balls found in the dungeon to flip the beetle. And then strike the weak spot with your sword.

The word "Spirit" may have a role in the game somehow.

I've read through the thread (several times), but I don't think there is anything for me to do. All I have is Skype, and a Mic, (that's it.)

well if you even come up with an idea for a segment, you can still tell us the idea and perhaps someone else will go "hey I could do a piece about that!". So even if allyou haveis the idea, feel free to share ^__^.

We want to get the podcast out by the end of the month, so if you're somuch as planning a contribution, let us know so we can keep track of all the incoming items. Turning up with a nice segment two days before it's being released, while cool and welcome, isn't as useful for our planning .

I am going to try to record a (shorter) (less then 90 second) segment of this post in mp3 format. Wish me luck.

(I made it too long, and have no idea what I'm doing.)

Darn it! I recorded a segment (it's a surprise to everyone besides ZUBC Staff members!) that was a few seconds short of 11 minutes! I don't think the part that I quoted was in the post when I recorded. Does this mean I'll have to redo it or you'll have to cut it short (which I don't want) or it won't be on the podcast? I already sent it in.

If the segment is aboutsomething that's not time-sensitive, it's ok because we can hang onto it to use next time. but yeah if you want it on the upcoming cast... well actually we already have a full schedule for the one coming up this month, so start thinking ahead to may, ok!!!


PS. Ezlo, yes, we need you to record it again, and use a script of have a plan this time. I couldn't listen longer than 3 minutes cuz it didn't sound well-thought out also, you have to keep the microphone futher awayfromyour mouth. do some test recordings and see whereyou should hold the mic so that your voice doesn't make the mic overload (that loud scratchiness on your voice whenyou talk too loudly into a mic). lastly- don't put the music in it. please send us just the voice recording and the music seperate so we can mix it ouselves for optimal quality.

All right! I didn't need a script this time because I actually took a couple minutes to think about what I was going to cover in about 3-4 minutes of mic-time. So, the short version is now about 4 minutes, 20 seconds long instead of the original 10 minutes, 40 seconds long! I hope this is short enough for you! I sent it to Awkin earlier today. A weird thing with the new recording is that the mic wasn't as sensitive, so the recording itself is a little quieter. I'm sure you guys can easily make it louder.

So, is there anything else I can do which does not require advanced podcasting skills?
