Re: Gender Wars II: This time, it's not Gender Wars I

What about season you joined? That would narrow it down to 4 teams, alot easier than 12 teams. I think the idea would be cool.

June, July, August - Summer team
September, October, November - Fall team
December, January, Febuary - Winter team
March, April, May - Spring team

Its an idea. Maybe we could combine them if we only wanted 2 teams. Like Fall-Winter and Spring-Summer

Its worth thinking over.

That's actually a really neat idea, in my book.

That's three people for the "Season joined", or "half-of-year joined". Should it be considered?

Okay, let me put up another point. There is no grudge between something like red and blue, or seasons. Boys vs. Girls is a classic sturggle as old as MANkind (). That's one of the reasons it was so entertaining. Shots and his abundance of dubbed testosterone wailing like a school girl, or Asia disshing out insults to the guy like, well...Powershot. What is there in Red vs. Blue or seasons? No excitment.

What are you talking about? Because you have deemed something "undoable," it's therefore against the rules?

This project isn't about just you, nor is it about just me, nor is it about just mattocks, nor Jason, nor anybody else on this site. Rather than just keep it the same, I want to keep this thing open to any and all possibilities.

I'm not saying that this is for sure the idea we're going to use, but if it's the most popular, we'll take it to staff and see if they like it. If they don't, then we'll do the second most popular, or re-vote if people want to. It's not that big a deal.

No, I'm not going against any rules

Zien, I'm going to tell you that you need to stop micro-managing. It's a form of Rent-a-modding, which is actually against the forum rules.

How about, instead of forum age, we use actual age?

There is a real life rivalry(somewhat) between old people and young people, so it fits Mattocks's criteria, and it's easy to divide up into groups.

What do you think?

Anything I "think" is miro-manging... because it may be positive/negitive feedback. According to some people.

It can be faked, but I don't think anyone is really going to do it. Especially since you can no longer change your birthday. In lue of that, I am one (according to ZU). So, am I too young to do any of this stuff?

why not a clan-wars?!

similar to the gender wars, but with 3 teams. The only problem is that clanless people couldn't be in it....

Do you really think a mod/admin would want to sit there are put several dozen/hundred members into those categories? Or modify the forums for a little game?

I'm still in favor of month joined. (Random assigned teams.) Like, January - June on one team and July - December on the other. Easy to see, and random.

I'd say it was exciting because it was a contest, and it was something everyone could identify with. And I still say you're just being a sore loser about the girls winning.

I vote no. The Clan Arena is the place for clan wars. And there're supposed to be ongoing contests in there. Oh, and if that did happen, just make a fourth team and call them "Clan-less".

(Hmm... I need to bug Shik about about Survivor again...)

Zien: Why wouldn't Staff vs. Others work? Especially if "staff" is expanded to include more then just mods, the team would be plenty big enough. Although staff does seem to change pretty often...

This idea's okay, but... How about some consideration for we who live in the southern hemisphere? I suggest two teams: Summer-Winter and Autumn-Spring.

But I still prefer my idea of each of the sections of ZU against eachother (Zelda vs. Community vs. Clans vs. BA vs. Staff).

Or if not that, then at least the staff (plus ex-staff?) vs. everyone else idea. :/

Just separate it by months. Right now, we can all agree that it's March, right? (Well, almost April.) Or slice it up differently. It really wouldn't make too huge a difference.

Also my second pick. (Maybe have every vote for a first and second favorite idea, rather then just the one they want?)

Please, explain. How do you seperate this? Besides, alot of people identify with more then one group. I'm always in the Clans, the SoI, and Community. Where do you place me?

I'm working along the seasons idea here. Oh, and keep in mind that the seasons here in Australia officially start on the first day of each March, June, September and December.

Sounds fair.

Well SoI is Community, for one (Synthesis of Imagery, yes? It's had a name change, and I don't even remember what it's called now. :/). As for what team people like you would go on... You'd have to pick at the start, and not be allowed to change. I browse Community and the Clans, but I identify strongest with the BA, so when I pick, I'd join the BA team.

Oops, I forgot about that.

But this is still something that would be hard to figure out who's on which team. It requires people picking teams, and leaves chances for people to randomly swap back and forth.

Well you wouldn't be able to swap teams if a thread with a poll was made where the names of who voted what could be seen.

Well like you said, there is some rivalry there, but it's usualy more the idea of seniors vs teens. I don't think there is a huge amount of seniors on here. Also, those who are older would most liekly hav an advantage. This is simply because those who for example drw, have had alot more time for practicing and learning. That's not to say it's always the case, but I know it is for many people.

Not a bad idea though, keep them comming.

Hey, I was a neutral judge, I was very happy for the girls winning. In fact I scored them significantly higher then the boys. I just want the boys to pull thier socks up a bit.

First of all, I don't think that is possible. But more importantly is this. The problem wouldn't be people trying to "sneak" onto another team. The teams would simply be kept track of on a list. The problem is that there is no afiliation to keep them there. They can easily just decide "no, I'd rather be over there" and then we run into problem of asking to be switched, dropping out because thye can't switch, confusion, just a pain in the ass. With gender you're either a male or a female. That's it, plain and simple, nothing to argue, no reason to change. If somone wants to pull a SLur and keep everyone guessing on thier gender, they don't participate.

Re: Gender Wars II: This time, it's not Gender Wars I

UPDATE: Poll hasn't started yet because there are too many awesome ideas flowing in that I don't want left out. =) So! Presently:
  • Genders
  • Month joined
  • Season
  • Staff vs. Non-Staff

  • Age
  • Olbies vs. Newbies
  • Red vs. Blue
  • Clans (Maybe)
  • Country
  • Continent

(have I missed any?)

Like DD said, we could make a fourth "clanless" group. Or we could have clanless choose whichever clan they like/ fill in needed spaces. Ultimately, though, I don't know if it'd work, because again, as DD pointed out, they have the clan arena for that.

I like it. Only problem is that some younger members may feel the older people have an advantage because they're older. Well, I guess it could go both ways, actually. >_> I like this one too!

This one has some potential! Although, some people don't really have a section they could identify with, so they might not be too thrilled fighting in the name of General Zelda, when they're still pretty fond of Serious Discussion. I don't know, what does everyone else think?

But the clan arena isn't exactly teeming with life. this could help stir up some clan spirit and rivalry, and breathe some new life into them

Also, to any criticism about my age idea:

Why not have everyone participating just post their age? Seriously, why lie at this point. And then we'd simply have sign-ups close at some point, and have the whole thread backed-up on a different server(I could probably do this with google docs in about five seconds)? That way, their could be no changing of teams after a certain point, and we'd all know exactly who was involved.

Auntie Eve, you might as well stick Seasons and Month Joined in the same category. It's really the same idea.

Quote:

That's Shik's job. When the Arena is dead, we blame him.

Again, complicated. And seems like it would be more a waste of time then it would be helpful.

I'd be torn. ;_; How do you expect me to choose Community or Din? Or be shouting for the other one to lose?

Also, General Zelda is about to disappear, remember? We're all about trains now.
