ZIMPP: Let's Fill You In! (Info and Ideas)

Alrighty-roo, time to get this show on the road. This here thread is for information and idea purposes ONLY. If you have a problem, either take it up with me or don't say anything.

First thing's first...

This is our list of staff. I have three here so nobody has too much to do and can still carry on with the other things they do in their lives. Permanent staff members are allowed to use these banners in their sigs, depending on their positions:







What is ZIMPP?

Here in ZIMPP, or Zelda In My Pocket Project, we'll release a set of three wallpapers constructed by our appointed artists (be them graphic or people who hand-draw) that are handheld Zelda themed. Basically, we'll take graphic images of stuff from and related to the handheld Zelda games with the text "Zelda in my Pocket" somewhere on them. It is done for Duncan/Hylie and his work. This project represents Duncan's work in the Zelda in My Pocket website, which was due to launch in early February, but never did. Duncan was a very well-liked member and deserves this more than ever. See this thread for more info on him.

So help us get this project off the ground and honor Duncan!

For right now, we're only looking for two people to fill in the staff positions, but people are free to give us ideas on what to put in our first set! Have fun brainstorming! ;D

Seems I had enough time to get this up before leaving after all...

Oh... I didn't know I was an Assistant Manager AND an artist now. o_O

Just to ask: Is there a deadline to this project?

It's awfully quiet... I'm not sure how this is going to work at this stage. It's sad, because it is for Duncan and such...

But then again, we'll see with time.

Yeah, you said to let you know if the position was open. :/

Artists don't have to be permanent staff members lol.

As for a deadline, I haven't come up with that yet because there have been no ideas given. Also, don't remind me of sadness...>_<

I have a small suggestion.

If this project is in Duncan's name, make it more obvious. Anyone scanning the thread for the basic overview isn't going to notice that one sentence popped in.

Uh, Pani, did you look at the banner at the top of the post?

And I meant ideas on what to put in the first wallpaper set.

What would you people like to see? TMC stuff first? LA? The Oracles? ALttP? (yes, GBA ports count too because they were made handheld).

I did. I scanned it like someone casually glancing over the thread would. The text didn't particularly stand out.

I'm just making a suggestion.

Hello, crazy weekend!
Pretty good thread Ranny, but as pani said, a little more info about Hylie would be good so people can get more knowledge/inspiration to join in.
Perhaps you can edit in a link to the announcement thread about Hylie (GCC). That would help so people who didn't know him could go check out the thread and see all the great things people have said about him, and basically know what a great guy he was.

One other small suggestion- maybe make it a little more clear what this thread is for. More emphasis on the need for people to throw out ideas, so they can participate without being an artist directly.

OH one more thing

I think maybe this should be at the top of the post if this thread is supposed to fill people in.

Well, I was trying to format it in a similar way to how Zien did his ZUHC thread (I'm using ZUHC as an example to learn off of lol), but I'll put a little more info about the Duncan thing.

BUT WE NEED WALLPAPER IDEAS, PEEPS!

I vote for something Link's Awakening themed.

LA? Sure, that'll do. I actually have some ideas of my own. I wouldn't mind doing a TMC one that had Link and Ezlo attacking an enemy or something. :3

an LA themed one would be a great one to include in the first group of wallpapers, since it was the first handheld zelda

How about something involving marin singing the ballad of the windfish, link playing flute, and the mountain in the background with the egg on top?

Yes, I absolutely agree. The wallpapers can be of different games though, there's no limit on that as long as the game is a handheld or ported to a handheld system. :]

And that sounds great, Margar. I don't think there's any official art depicting that though, so a hand-drawer would have to do that one.

Yeah. LA's official artwork is kinda limited, so.

I'll *gladly* do what's needed if there's a spot available (I'm thinking wallpapers for example), as long as I don't have someone bossing over me because that makes me pissed off.
If not, oh well.

Since the ideas come from the community, there won't be "bossing" so much as "this is what people suggested, see if you can make it happen" sort of thing.

I know with the ZUHC, when Liah first drew Ganondorf, he had a pointy hat and striped shirt. Zien and I were like, "Um... he looks too much like a Christmas elf! change please?" But that's not really bossing, you know what I mean?

anyway- the more ideas people give, the more freedom you'll have. unless, of course, you'd like to give it a go on your own. It's all in how you want to honor Hylie I guess.

I'd rather have it from the community instead of some so-called leader - think Torrent, not P2P. ^_

I work my magic in Photoshop and Cinema 4D - maybe Illy if needed.

well the "leader" is there to make sure that people are meeting deadlines, updating the main post with the latest developments, and making sure the project stays on track. the actual design ideas are collected from the community members though.

I would actually like to help out if I could at all.

Just let me know what I can do. I'd really like to participate.
