What is the ZUHC?
The ZUHC stands for Zelda Universe Holiday Cards. The project was created to give ZU and its members holiday cheer throughout the year. The ZUHC aims to collect ideas from the community for potential card designs, take the best/most workable ideas, then create the holiday card from those ideas, and surprise the community with a bit of e-card cheer, ZU-style!
The project was founded by Austin, who introduced the idea to ZU in November, 08. The project did not get a kick start until January 09. So, it took three months for the project to get up and running. In January 09, the ZUHC became an official ZU project, once it was oked by Jason.

What are ZUHC Staff?
ZUHC Staff are selected members by the manager who keep the project running, and draw the cards for the project. The Staff get access to the hidden Community Coordinator board, which homes the very important ZUHC HQ Thread. The manager and Co-manager remain permanent staff, but the card designers change with each month/holiday. It is the job of the manager to approve potential ZUHC Staff members, and to keep the project on track. The Co-manager takes over the project if the manager is not present for a certain period of time. Margaret, a forumer Co-manager, is a moderator. Therefore, she had the part of the manager’s job, which is to place/remove members from the ZUHC Staff list. Finally, the card designer(s) draw up the card for the project which is partly designed by other ZU members.

How do I become a ZUHC Staff Member?
The ranks of co-manager, and manager have been taken. However, there is always at least one opening for a card designer every month. The ZUHC uses a “shifting” system. In which, there is one set of card designers per month. After the card is finished, new card designers are brought in to replace the previous member(s). We are always on the lookout for people who are willing to help us. If you are interested in volunteering your services as a designer for one of these cards, simply express your interest right here in this thread. we'll keep a list of everyone who's expressed interest, and hopefully the supply/demand ratio will be even so no one is left out . We had two card designers for Valentine's Day so the possibility of two cards for a holiday is not entirely out of the question if the interest is there.

What are the requirements to be a card designer?
This list is not a be all-end all requirement, but gives you a good idea on what we are looking for in a possible card designer:

• Have some experience with programs such as Photoshop and/or have some drawing skills. These drawing skills are but are not limited to: Drawing a basic humanoid, drawing clothing, detailing, coloring, perspective, and defining dimension in drawing.
• Have the necessary means/equipment to get the drawing onto the web, such as a scanner, and/or file sharing website account (such as Photobucket).
• Remembering to check up frequently with the rest of the team in the hidden ZUHC staff thread for updates, so we can keep things rolling along smoothly.

What are the rules for making suggestions?

This thread is where (as the title suggests) you can suggest ideas on what should be on the next ZUHC card. It is open to eveyone, newbs and ':3' members alike. The first two cards were made without your suggestions, so they were not as good as they could have been, and the well of creativity betwee the 2...er, 3 of us only runs so deep . We need to know what you want on the cards, so they will be both more enjoyable, and interactive. With your help, we can make each ZUHC worth while.

What are the rules for making suggestions?
Suggestions for possible things to be put on the card must be within the following guidelines:

• Card designs can be Zelda-related, or ZU community-related. we'd like to keep a nice mix from month to month so as to keep it fresh.
• You may suggest ideas for just the picture, or the text, or both, or any other ideas you may have. We welcome your creativity!
• Every suggestion must be suitable for all ages. No nudity, or sexual nature of any kind allowed. If a suggestion is posted with such nature, it will be deleted on the spot.
• All suggestions must be posted before the deadline. The deadline will be posted by either the manager or Co-manger under the ‘Updates’ section.
• No suggestion is to make another member feel bad about him/her self. The ZUHC tries to be humorous, but any suggestion which influences photo-flaming will be deleted.
• All suggestions must follow the theme of the specific month, or be for holidays that are no more than 2 months away. Any Christmas suggestions in July, or anything of that nature will be deleted.
• All of ZU’s rules apply.

We are currently accepting YOUR ideas, suggestions, and even volunteerism for the Easter card!

Easter is on April 12.
The deadline for suggestions is April 5th. Subject to change.

Ooh, ooh, Margar, I just hit on a great idea for a Zelda-themed Easter card! I'll volunteer to do that one!

well we JUST made this post like 5 minutes ago,so I'd like to get other peoples' ideas for the card design first.

also, the way we've been wanting to do this is to have everyone throw out their ideas here, then we take our volunteer artist, and we (the staff) come upwith the final design, trying to incorpaorate possibly a few of the ideas, then the final outcome isn't just based on oneperson's idea.

so, share your design idea! What were you thinking about for the design?

EDIT: just to be clear though- I'm not shooting you down as the card designer for easter, just saying I want to wait until we've collected some more ideas before we actually make the card. so don't go off and draw anythingyet, k?

Well, I was thinking, Link in the Bunny Hood and he's holding an Easter basket and walking along, then the Zelda girls see him and start laughing. Then Link is like

Oh yeah- the bunny hood would be awesome to incorporate into the card. it fits perfectly

Yeah, let's hope Zien agrees! I can get started as soon as I finish the pic I'm working on right now (which is fairly near completion), if I'm given the job. :]

well so far the running idea is
"something involving Link and the bunny hood"

we still have plenty of room for more ideas, plus we need to think of the text part of thecard too.

Ah, right, the ZU themed part. I haven't thought of anything for that yet, but I might!

I love the whole Link in the bunny hood thing but... our St. Patrick's Day card is Zelda related. So, we might want to make this one a ZU related card. Of course, we can always do another ZU related card next month, and keep this Zelda related.

I thought you guys did both each holiday. Dang, my bad. But yeah, you can always do ZU for July 4th or something.

we tried to do both for V-day, but the Zelda card just didn't get done in time (BTW Zien- we should post the unfinished card inthe archive. no use in letting Steve's work go to waste. it was a cute picture!!)

If we get enough ideas, we may be able to do a community-related card as well.
I suppose it just all depends on how much response we get

By ZU related..... can I have an example please?

ZU realted cards are cards which star ZU members. Zelda related cards are thoes which star Zelda characters such as Link, Ganondorf, Tingle, etc.

I don't think I know that many people around here, or what they would want to look like.

Maybe I can't do it this time....

You do need to know what people want to look at. If you did, then you would know the thoughts of every ZU member. Suggest some things YOU want to see, and lets see who else would like to see it. None of these suggestions are planned, all of them are thrown out there.

We try not to discourage people as much as possible. But, it is completly up to you on whether you want to participate in the project. The more people who help, the bigger the impact the project will make.

Well.... I guess we could have a small group image of ZU users in a field, searching for candy eggs as an airplane flies overhead. Cookie to anyone who gets the reference.

Other than that, I don't have much ideas. I'm not really good at these sort of things.

Um...the airplane references ZUers flying to that location to do the candy egg hunt? I dunno, but sounds good.

It's a certain TV commerical actually.
