The Zelda Universe Multimedia Division Thread

So, now that NaNoWriMo is over, I am back in business to bring this project to life.

For those of you that do not know, the Zelda Universe Multimedia Division, or ZUMD, will become the primary source of multimedia entertainment on the Main Page. There will be webcomics, art, articles, music, television content, and much much more. The PodCast will also be a part of this, although they will be changed slightly to coincide with the new idea of the ZUMD. The ZU Arcade is also part of this massive project.

So how does ZUMD work? Well, it will run on the very fuel of you, Zelda Universe. I concieved this project as a way to let everyone on Zelda Universe express themselves creatively. This project will need help, a lot of help, from you the users. I cannot do all of this alone, nobody could. I want dedicated members willing to take the time to bring to ZU something that is uniquely them. If you can sing, help make some music for the Main Page. If you can draw, do artwork. If you can write, work with the artists to create a webcomic. There is literally nothing that I will turn away, as long as members are dedicated enough to continuously keep bringing new content to Zelda Universe.

If you wish to help ZU, contact me and we will see what you have to offer. This is the 5th Era, everyone. Let's make sure that it rocks.

I also really like the idea. A lot. We need some more unique things on the home page to make Zelda Universe uniquely separate from other Zelda fan sites.

The missus was just saying last night that there aren't any community projects and that she was going to start heading some up if no one else did. XD

Ideas, ideas...

We had a couple of "Co-op Zelda stories" that were held in the Fanfiction section that grew kinda large. I think if we started a new project like that worked on it so that it's quality enough for the main site that might be a good feature. I would be happy to head something of that nature. We have a lot of talented active writers (and artists, if we can get them to illustrate) who would probably be on board.

Here are the original two. Obviously we'd drop the RPG elements when publishing it on the main site, but community contributions to a Zelda-themed story would be FABulous. =P

Also, we need to bring back the ZUser Created Challenges! Those were great and would also generate more content to be posted/hosted. I'll take that mantle, too, if that's alright with everybody.

No, that's not it at all. I have been assessing all of the people coming forth to volunteer what they want to offer ZU's Main Page and am constructing a table of content I want to see on the Main Page so that everyone can see where they might be able to contribute the most help. So, if I haven't replied to you, please don't think I've ignored you. I'm merely getting ready to categorize everything so the Main Page can be made ready for all this new content.

Okay, everyone, after being hassled by so many of you, I have your answers!

Now, everyone who wants to will take part in this. I am shunning nobody. Here I have compiled a list of things that are available at this juncture, what people have volunteered to do, and things that people haven't volunteered for that I want more people joining in on. So here I present a list of planned projects that will be done by the ZUMD.

Sorry I didn't get this up earlier, I have been getting ready for University finals. All kinds of fun those are...

1. Arcade: The Arcade is coming! Thanks to overwhelming support from the community and a multitude of volunteers to bring this behemoth to life, all I actually need are the games to give this a fighting chance. Currently there are several people voicing support for the Arcade, and many willing to work on games for it. These games will be hosted on the Main Page under the Interactive division. All participants eager should ship me their ideas for possible games they want to make to me immediately, as well as provide samples of their work for reference.

Also, I want to put a team together on this to create a Zelda fangame. Interested parties should include their interest to do this with their credentials, and should list their skills so that I can fit you on the team properly.

2. Music: I've had a few PM's about people telling me their willingness to do this tough job. We will need Zelda music, preferrably, but I want that to be the only limitation. You are more than able to pick whatever genre you want to tackle Zelda with, be it a techno remix of the dungeon music, or a rock ballad for Link. Whatever you want. I would prefer participants PM me samples of their music, just to make sure they have the gear to back up their claims, but really I just want this to get big, so I want as many people in on this.

3. Artwork: Wow, I've had a lot of people show interest in this. So that everyone is aware, the participants for Artwork will have to work with Writers to complete comics for the most part, since I really want comics up and running on the Main Page. However, I don't want that to deter people, so some Artists will be given the freedom to work on their own to complete collections of Artwork from the Zelda series.

4. Writing: I want it all. I want fan-fiction, I want articles, I especially also want talented members to work with the Artwork division to create comics. No one volunteered for this really, so I really hope people realize that this something I'm looking for and step up.

5. PodCast: PodCasts are on the way, since I am going to be revamping how they are done. People interested in producing Segments should see this thread {link here soon}, since we're going to need a lot more Segments and people to pull this off. Instead of one massive thing every few months, we are shortening the PodCasts to allow for faster releases and a bigger team to make this a reality.

6. ZUBC TV: We are going to have television, I'm tired of living without it. Interested parties should PM the man in charge of this, Dom, and submit your ideas to make television shows. Since Dom's in charge of this, and I'm more of a liason to the TV division, he'll have the answers you're looking for.

At any rate, the latter two sound interesting. What kinds of articles are you talking about, and what kind of help would the artwork department (as in what parts of the comic? Script? Story? Scenario?) need, Shotty?

... Or am I wasting my time by posting here instead of PMing you?

I PMed him the link to the post as well, and he seems to have acknowledged it. In theory.

In theory indeed.

Good news! All artists are going to be mobilized very shortly, and there will be three categories. Artists will be assigned to Comics, dealing with the creation of a ZU Webcomic, Artwork, dealing with creating fan art for ZU's Main Page in a massive collection, and Concept Art, where artists will be assigned to create concept art for a Legend of Zelda fangame for ZU.

Writers will be placed into two categories: Comics and Storyboard. Comic writers will be paired with Artists to help with the Webcomics and Storyboard writers will be assigned portions of the Legend of Zelda fangame and will begin work shortly after the assignments are given.

Finally, I have learned that there are several spriters in our midst. Spriters will be contacted to prepare sprite versions of the concept art once the game reaches that stage, and Programmers will be given the task of bringing the fangame to life.

Once I hear from my primary concept artist, I will release details for the plot in a new thread to assign things.

I am cringing at the thought that you'll probably say I have to upload them to youtube or something.

The arcade people need a forum. We have so many ideas flying around, and the social group is too small for all these ideas.
Of course, we also don't want people to know what games we're going to make for them...

Since there aren't that many of you, the best way to make what you say private would probably be to make you all Community Coordinators I'd think. :/
