The 2008 Zelda Universe Election: The Result...?

Ladies, gentlemen, muffins.

What could quite possibly be the largest community activity in recent memory is over. In this Election, over three hundred members--let me repeat that--over three hundred members, came together for the simple purpose of becoming a community, proving that one does not need to be a Forum Mod, a Super Mod, or even a Webmaster, to be a part of Zelda Universe. All you need is an account, and the willingness and determination to be a part of our family. I have watched over the past week or so that this election has been going on several things: I have seen fights, I have seen jokes, I have seen comedy. I have seen the promise of a good future in Zelda Universe. And it's all thanks to you, the members, who made this possible. All of you that chose to make a difference.

Am I disappointed at the result? Of course not. As I have stated before, my primary concern was never to win the Election. My first and only thought through this was getting as many people as possible involved in this adventure. That is still my goal. All those things I promised, I know they will be fulfilled. I know there will be an Arcade in the Main Site. Jason has said it could be done. I know there can be blogs, I know there can be art. I've seen it all in this Election. I know that everything I wanted to happen will happen. You have all showed me that you are the ones who can bring about change, to make Zelda Universe the place we deserve to call our home away from home.

To all of my supporters, I give my deepest thanks. Even when you knew, but I didn't, that we were starting to lose, you did as I asked. Instead of hammering down on people to vote for me, you went out to just get people to vote. You did what was important for the website, not for me. And that's exactly what I wanted done. By getting all of these people here tonight, we have shown that we are a major part of this community, and that anyone can join that community if they choose to.

To those who opposed me, the feeding frenzy on you will begin tomorrow. But for tonight, I thank you all for being here and participating. You are all members that I would love to get to know, as your passion and dedication for this site are extraordinary. I have seen the same fire in your eyes that I have seen in my followers. I know that you will all help as we of Zelda Universe unite once more to bring about the changes we want, the changes we need, and the changes we deserve as friends, comrades, and allies.

To Cody and Jason, I thank you for this experience. Thanks to you, I have seen that I truly am capable of inspiring others to do great things. This Election would have been nothing without you guys. To AEF Link, my illigitimate son, you are still welcome in my eyes. To Asia, my dear running mate, I thank you for your kind words and your endearing support. To Silver, I thank you for giving me the strength to turn this Election into something much more meaningful than a bunch of members bickering. To Dr. Fish, my first supporter, I can only promise to continue working with you, you talented aquatic being. To the BA, Farore, the Shantytown, and everyone, thank you. From the theorists to the debators, thank you.

So let's give a big round of applause for myself first, because I have that huge ego everyone was talking about. Then to Cody, for getting me in the race to begin with. Then to Jason, our dictator, who must now learn to share his throne.

And last but not least, give yourselves a round of applause, Zelda Universe.

You deserve it.

By the way, while that was a beautiful speech and all, Shotty, Cody and I had planned the election for Cody to win, since this was really all just a fun thing to do to make Cody webmaster

That actually doesn't mean I won't be doing some neat stuff Shotty told me about, like the arcade. That sounds delicious.

(Webmasters are the ones who do lots of work on the main site and not the forums, which is Cody, which is why Shotty is not the webmaster and Cody is, not because of a poll. However, Cody has been told he must write a funny acceptance speech or be banished from The Universe. If you read it and do not laugh, please post about it in FSQ, and Cody will be... dealt with. )

Great loser speech, as expected. This election really did feel like like the US election. In the end everyone knew who would win, we were all just waiting to see by how much, and just like McCain you even held a great Concession speech.

Yeah, it was a hoax, but I did mean that speech. That's why I didn't want to win, but to get people to the polls. Sheesh, Jason, you and your Jewness. No sense of subtlety.

EDIT: This isn't a concession speech. I was never supposed to win. This is a results thread, where I got more people to vote, and Cody didn't.

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that Zelda Universe is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.

No, just kidding, this wasn't democracy at all. :3 Jason decided to make me a webmaster, but wanted to have a parody of the US elections along the way. We started off with just having a choice between me and nobody at all, but this was far too boring, so we asked Power Shot to join in. Mind you, if Power Shot had won, he really would have been webmaster for a while - he wanted to have a little reign of terror to increase the drama even more! :3

This campaign was extremely fun, though, and I have several people to thank. Firstly Jason, who had this idea in the first place. He's such a big fan of publicity stunts! Secondly Power Shot, who made this into an entertaining battle. Both of them are at fault for waking me up at 6am to do a debate though. :< Then there's Yami, Liah, Bitterlime and all the others who photoshopped and drew pictures for me to help me win the election. Those pictures are great! Last but not least, of course, are the people who voted for me! It's good to know that I'll be heading into this new position with the support of the people.

Jason wanted me to make a funny speech, so be sure to laugh at my first paragraph in which I parody Obama's acceptance speech.

Oh, right, the changes. We have quite a few changes coming up in the near future. Here are some of the changes that should be implemented over the course of the day:

• The rewriting of board descriptions, and in some cases, the board name itself. Many of our current board descriptions are too vague and don't tell you what you need to know, so we're fixing this.
• A new banner will be added for the staff of our affiliated websites. If you're one of them, be sure to come and claim that banner. :P
• On the main site, the images for OoA, OoS and TP should be finished. We've been working on finding the last of the images we need.
• Within the week, we should be finally releasing our LCT pages.

There are many more changes to come, but until then, I'll be seeing you in this Zelda Universe!

I don't know, on the count of...I don't know...you.

That doesn't change my opinion on shinanigans. It's shinanigans, and I stick by that. Whether the turn-out would have remained the same or not.

It was kinda funny, but I'm still not laughing. In comparison to other jokes you've all done, this one is weak at best. =/ Still, Congratulations to Cody, who I predicted a win for anyway with my super awesome Election Radar. =D

I know you meant the speech, and that's why I had to strike you down with my Mighty Hand of Moses! Don't make me get out the Cane of Matza. I feel unimportant in this thread. Zeldamaster#1#1 will leave the impressive people with "Patron" banners and "Webmaster", "B.A. Council" and other banners.
