BPP: Official Discussion Thread

(Next mod to see this, please stick this thread and lock and unstick the planning one.)

In an attempt to reduce the number of excess threads in this section, we're throwing a bunch of other topics into this thread!

PURPOSES OF THIS THREAD

- Any discussions relating to the BPP. (We love discussions!)
- Anyone who wants to join in to the BPP.
- Questions, comments, concerns, or problems.
- To let us know when we mess up the route.
- And pretty much everything else about the BPP.

WHO'S IN CHARGE

Dog Dog 123 - Apparently leader (Person to send any questions to)
Saber - Shiny new map maker
Asia - Project starter

Here's a few of the things that are helpful for all of us:

BPP FAQ

What is the BPP?
ZU's Big Piece of Paper is a community project. We have a big piece of paper. And we're mailing it from member to member so that everyone can add a little something to it.

Where's this thing going?
Check lower in this post for a hopefully up to date list of where the BPP is headed. We're starting in Australia, then headed towards Europe and the UK, and the next stop will be America.

Cool! Can I join?
If you want to join, the first thing to do is to look at the route and figure out if the BPP has already passed your area. If it's not there yet, speak up quick and we can probably fit you into the route! We'd love to see more people decide to join in on this. If the BPP is already past your area, we might be able to ship it back a few towns so that you can get it, but if it's off your continent I'm afraid you're out of luck.

When will this get to my area?
We don't know. Stop asking. Australia will hopefully be done within a month. If we're lucky we'll be done with the UK by the end of this year. It all depends on shipping times.

Help! I'm signed up but I don't know where to send it!
Fear not, innocent ZUer! Chances are that no one knows where you're sending it because our route is not yet complete! But if it is coming through your area and you've forgotten where it's headed, just go ahead and ask in this thread, or PM me or Aly. Or just scroll down and check the bottom of this post.

I have to give my address to Asci? But he's scary!
You only give your address to one other person in this project, the one sending you the BPP. If you have a huge problem with the member you're supposed to give your address to, just let us know and we'll make Aly fix the route. Just be sure to tell us as soon as possible.

Alrighty, enough random Question/Answer.

HOW TO WRITE ON THE BPP

Alrighty, here's a few quick guidelines for when the BPP comes to you.

1. Take care of the paper. Don't spill anything. Try not to contaminate it by picking your nose. Keep it away from slobery little 2 year olds. Try not to fold the paper or put holes in it. This paper will travel alot, and I'm sure that everyone else helping make this work would like the paper to be in one piece when they get it.

2. As soon as you get the paper, post in the Tracking Thread. Include that you've got it, post any little pictures, and let us know when you've sent it off again.

EXAMPLE:
Margar, Lorain, Ohio, USA
Recieved BPP from Lftenjamin on 10/15/08
<picture>
caption: It's me standing on the shore of Lake Erie with the BPP!!
and look at what Lefty sent me! <picture of what lefty sent me>
Isn't it cute?!
I'll be sending this to Sadi as soon as I get my butt to the post office!
Sent BPP to Sadida, in Akron, Ohio on 10/17/0

New Rule: Each tracking thread post is only allowed one [IMG] tagged pictured. The others should be linked. The pictures are amazing and wonderful, but the thread is killing everyone's computers.

3. We'd like to keep this moving. If possible, have the paper sent within three days of having recieved it. If you have to run it over to a friend's house so they can sign too, we understand that it'll take alittle longer, but try not to hold onto it forever.

4. It NEEDS to be sent Recorded/Guaranteed delivery. It costs more, but that guarantees that it will reach it's destination; and that's essential. Also, it might be helpful to PM the person it's headed to so they know it's coming soon.

5. When writing on the paper, try to keep whatever you write in about 10x10cm. This way there's room for everyone.

Once we get towards the end and there aren't many people left, you can use alittle bit more space I think. Also, keep whatever's written on there UNDER A PG-13 RATING. (That means you Kika!) Don't cover up or write on anyone else's stuff. Everyone deserves a spot. Don't write anything negative or mean.

6. Trinkets and donations. If you want to leave a little something for the next person only, stick it in with the BPP. Make sure it won't make a mess. Don't try to mail a piece of cake or anything. We'll have an envelope (this isn't there yet, but hopefully we'll get one soon?) in the box for anyone who's feeling kind enough to throw in an extra dollar to help cover the shipping costs of mailing the BPP overseas. If you stick in a donation, make a note of how much is in there in the tracking thread, just to be safe.

7. Have fun with it!

4. When shipping... *insert guidelines for shipping and making sure package isn't lost* (Yeah, no one's told me any rules for this. Lemme know if you come up with any.)
Side note here, but wouldn't it be helpful if before you sent the BPP to the next person, or soon after you have done so, you PM the person you're mailing it to kinda like "Oh, yeah, Humungo reminder-o here to check your mail in a few days for the BPP. I sent it out on *insert date here*, so look forward to this tube of epicness coming your way!"

Yeah. That failed miserably. But there's my suggestion, because there are people out there who are probably like me and are clueless as to when things that involve them are headed their way and occasionaly need a little reminder.

With that said, I am very glad to know the BPP is on the move and hope great care is taken by everyone so it'll last :3

I like how you forgot me even after I repeatedly brought it up with you. (And yes, I am on the map and replied to Bretski's confirmation PM.)
That said, you paid no attention to the other stuff I told you either, so I guess it's alright!

She most likely forgot to write it down somewhere where she would actually notice after you said something to her. Then when she went off to give the names to Jodd you never showed up since three people are sharing the same little marker dot thingy.

I have to repeat things several times in person if I think there's a chance of it being remembered. Spam her inbox to death, or play messenger pigeon through me is your only real hope here

I thought you had a cry and decided against doing it in protest to Asia wronging you in some way.

If not just sign the damn paper while it's with Pani or Bex.

Don't shoot the messenger. Shoot Jodd. I did mention it, and he claimed that you dropped out. Besides, he's the one in charge of map making anyways, so it's him who left you off in the first place. Can we just stick you in with Pani/Bex and have it sent to you both at once?

Also, if you weren't in the route, why didn't you tell me a month ago when I mailed EVERYONE the route for Australia? skate_mate told me he had been skipped within a day or two of telling the route, and we had it fixed up nice and quick. When we screw up, you're supposed to complain ASAP. Not wait until addresses are sent out and such and then complain.

Also, when Pani asked about why you weren't on the map, I PMed Jodd and he said you dropped out. Right after reading that I went into IRC and you weren't there. I did wonder, but I assumed Jodd was actually sure when he said that.

Also, you never mentioned to me that you were left off the route. Please, feel free to prove me wrong and show proof that you had told me, and then you can blame us.

Gah... anyways. Can we just stick you in with Pani/Bex? It that okay?

Quote:

Again, you never said anything to me. There aren't any PMs from you complaining about the route. And if it were in IRC that you tried to tell me, you should have made sure I responded because I don't usually follow what goes on in there if I'm doing something else.

Quote:
Spam her inbox to death,
Please don't. The most messages I've gotten lately was 6 at once. That's not alot. If it's there, I'll see it. And if it's important, I'll either fix the problem or PM you back. If you wait a day and I don't reply, then you send another one bugging me.

Quote:
then sign up! there may still be time, since it just started!!
He claims to be in Aussie, so unless Jodd wants to change the route again... uh, most people already sent addresses. Changing the route now might be problematic.

(Now what happened to our super duper project manager Asci?)

Eh, I'll add that. Seems like a good idea, though I doubt any would have forgotten since I think I've been doing a pretty good job of annoying people through the PM system.

Re: BPP: Official Discussion Thread

Nathan has always been signing the BPP with me and Pani (to my knowledge) so there isn't a problem here as far as mailing goes.

Although, Nathan, you said that you would provide your address so the BPP could be sent to your place, and you haven't been at school to confirm or deny that, so let me know. Otherwise it's got to be sent to Pani's place and we need to get the right address to Ed ASAP.

Re: BPP: Official Discussion Thread

Dom, I'm pretty sure it was being done in a slightly more complicated way. Also, let's point out problems with your map (Yes, I know you don't care):

1. Norway doesn't exist.
2. Dalek dropped out, along with other members you included.
3. You have 2 or 3 other names dots in there.
4. That still doesn't give us an order due to overlapping dots.
5. Your map is Cody-less.
6. It needs names, not a line.

Great, so Asci is "Super super busy" and Jodd is pretending that his banner doesn't mean anything. I think I'll go hide in a corner now.

Re: BPP: Official Discussion Thread

He doesn't have to, the situation was always the same. We were always going to have it sent to one of us three and all sign it at the same time. Having his name on the list was only a formality, for mailing purposes we're one person.

Unless he had other intentions, but I don't know anything about those.

Also, Nathan, never mind about the address, we're having it sent to Pani. That way we know it will be brought to school.

Edit: Also, Todd, note that she refered to what the banner means and not the banner itself, and what it means is that you volunteered to organise part of the BPP. Her expecting you to do that and do it properly is hardly unreasonable.

I will join the Americans! Even though I live in Canada! Can it still be set to me? =3

(Ignore the Australia flag in my profile.)

I would love to add something to this paper. As long as it's sent to me before December 17th. After that I'll be changing addresses. :]

I'm fairly sure there would be no problem of adding you in as long as the BPP hasn't yet reached within the country/area where you live.

However by 17 December, that won't happen. It's already been said a few times here and there that we'd be lucky if the BPP was through with Europe by the end of the year =/

You have a map, my job is done. Asci is the project leader here.

Azzy hunt down your sister and ask her about it. She's supposed to get it very soon, assuming Asia has sent it or whatever.
