Re: BPP: Official Discussion Thread

Jodd, we've only got a route plan for everyone from Liah to Cody; part of your job is still not done - mapping the rest. Sure you can't map it right now, due to nobody knowing exactly who's participating yet, but this doesn't mean you can just ignore everything beyond Australia.

Unless, of course, I am mistaken, and you do actually intend to start routing again once it's about to enter Europe. :/

Re: BPP: Official Discussion Thread

Of course I will start routing Europe, later. It will take months to get through Australia. That is something we don't have to worry about until next year, and it is certainly nothing I plan on worrying about at the moment. I have enough to get done.

Oh, okay. All is good then. (although I don't think it going through Australia will take more than two months, really. :/ )

Okay,

*sets down her coffee mug*

Order! Order in the court!

First of all, A HUGE EFFIN' THANK YOU TO DOGDOG FOR BEING MORE THAN A RASGING STAR IN THE ORGANISATION, PUSHING AND MOVING OF THIS PROJECT!

(and yes, that deserved all caps! xD)

My dear, I thank you and pologise simultaneously for having to bear the brunt of everything so far, all the complaints, and all the chasing up. You really are an invaluable organisational tycoon and I respect you immensely for your talents and your dedication so far.

*drags out of corner*
we'll stand together :>

To all queries so far -

Shikapea - Naturally, I knew nothing about the whole "not signing!" thing, so, I hope you've rethought that stance and decided to rejoin us! ^____^
The paper's goal is to gather as many traces of ZU's memorable members as possible, and you're certainly one of them. So, sign it when it comes round your corner of the world! =D

Jodd - Thanks for doing a stellar job so far on the route, and I hope that you continue, as the paper progresses, to sort out the route for us :>

DomDom - Jodd is in charge of the paper. If you feel that his route plan might need a wee bit of a revision or that there is a much more efficient route, PM it to Jodd and converse with him about it ^_______^

AZZSTER! - My dear, OF COURSE you can sign the paper! xD! wah! I thought that was a given! xD *laughs*
oh MAN, listen, I would send the paper right back to New Zealand if it later emerges that the one and only Azzy didn';t sign! so, sign! :>!!

Peterdea - *laughs* so happy that you think so! ^___^ and welcome to ZU, good sir =D!

- ah yes! how could I have forgotten,

Also, It occurred to me - what if we have some kind of wee banner that says something like ... "I sent the BPP!" or "BPP'd!" or something, that people can wear in their sigs AFter they'd received, writted on and sent the paper? that way, it would be easy to see at a glance where the paper is just from browsing the forum casually =D
naturally, people can only wear it AFter they've sent it on!
Any takers?

Right, here's a wee note, everyone - the BPP is supposed to be a hAPPy relaxed project. Relax =)
If there appears to be a problem, let's not complicate matters. It takes a lot of time and effort to organise something like this and we're human. Mistakes are natural. It doesn't mean that there is a personal vendetta against anyone if they find that they aren't in the route - just give us a wee shout and we'll fix it. Simple as ^_________________^

Have fun with it!

Re: BPP: Official Discussion Thread

The tracking thread needs to be seperate to a discussion/chat thread so that the ACTual BBP Journey is clear to anyone who wants to track it, without having to search through a pile of chat/conversation posts to find the next leg of the route.

Unless you want a salad of signup/ discussion of route/map plotting/tracking, then this is needed for organisation purposes and so that people needn't sift through hundreds of pages of completely unrelated mash of different discussions to, now and then, spot a post that's relevant to what they're looking for.

Or do you disagree? =)

Indeed, that's what I thought as well. Wait a minute, I just noticed the haphazard mapping arrangement we have here.

So (roughly) the map goes somewhat like this?

Why doesn't it go more like this? Or is there anything in particular I'm missing?

That and I imagine that posting from Adelaide to Perth would be a tad cheaper, which is always a plus. (Likewise with catching a plane, it's cheaper to go to Singapore before Perth due to flying over the desert)

I just haven't been around the grOUp to confirm or deny that, you mean. Private study in other places still counts (also it would've been nice if you'd dropped me a reminder, but otherwise I'd have been fine with it - why would we be doing it at school in the first place? I thought we might've done something more special like taking it into the city or a park or something. I suggested that while we were in the city with Kyle, if you remember it (At KFC while we were wearing the newspaper hats, for further clarification - unless my memory fails me there)

Asia, you know as much as I do there. But for the sake of rejoining, I QUIT.. I wanna come back etc etc.
I'll sign it with "Asia is a smelly" underneath, just for that extra personal touch. <3

I told you in IRC within at least a day of you having sent me the PM about it, you said something about fixing it in the future and I put it to rest. I'd go through my logs if they didn't freeze every time I tried to look at them, though I'll try them on another computer at some point in the future (It'll be hard to find though, since there's been much discussion about it in IRC since I brought it up with you.)

Although the route you suggest there would likely be cheaper in the long run, Jodd said he wants it to go (Brisbane -> Perth) because there is someone (Pani?) up your end of the country who already has his address, and he'd rather not give out his address more than he needs to. At least I think that that's what he told me when I brought up a very similar point. :/

And on a different note, why the heck hasn't Ed given me his address? For that matter, I haven't seen him around ZU in ages.

Re: BPP: Official Discussion Thread

Whee... let's reply backwards some more.

Sabbo - PM Ed about it. Unless you'd like me to be annoying? I haven't checked lately, but I'm pretty sure that the Read Recipt for Ed still says unread. AKA they haven't gotten that most recent PM yet. Are you going to hunt for Ed or do you want me to do it for you?

EDIT: Never mind, I'll work on that for you. He's been offline for a while, but I think I can find him.

Whoever had the map complaint - I think the logic was that he was working to make sure that members were giving addresses to trustable people. Like, younger members sending it to other younger members. Not giving scary old Asci the address of a 13 year old.

Shik - You did? I do not remember. Well, you should've noticed before now and thrown a rock at me. Then I'd have remembered to fix it. Anyways, sorry for the hundreds of times I've probably ignored you about various things.

Quote:
Geez, how many threads do we have. What the hell.
We have... 5. I think. Maybe 6.

There was the first planning one. That was a mess of ideas, trying to pick formats, and the first post was entirely about the type of paper to use.

Then we had a sign-up thread. Which turned to a huge mess. And is no longer in use because we have a more organized list. And sign-ups were officially closed by Asci a while ago, though I'm pretending they weren't for any non-Aussies.

Then there was "BPP Mapping", a thread which Asci made on an impulse before talking to anyone or realizing that we were plotting the route in a more organized way.

Those are all locked. Now the ones we're using:

This thread. Any sort of various discussion and complaints. Which magically grew two pages in the middle of the night. And other various pieces of important junk.

The hidden thread. For our various pieces of mismatch planning junk while we argue and try to sort things out. Or, while me and Margar try to sort things out, since apparently you and Asci haven't been following it.

And we have the tracking thread. Which simply says where the paper is when. I got it, I sent it. And nothing more.

Can you think of a way to cut down those last three threads in a sensible way?

Quote:

Um, I'm pretty sure that's been posted in at least two threads now. It's in our hidden planning thread. It's in the tracking thread. And it's probably in this one somewhere too.

AHA! I knew there was something about shipping! I'll... add that to my list of miscellanious stuff to do.

Wow, bad button just almost deleted this whole post.

Anyways, gimme a banner and I'll put it in the first post for you so that people can wear it. Perhaps just a general banner for it to so that people know the project exists?

Quote:

Uh, not likely. Have you not noticed that I'm working to make this go faster? Which is the reason why I asked everyone on the first leg of the route to send their addresses a week or two ago and recently PMed them all again to see who had an address already.

Quote:
I'll just give the current address that I am at when it's my turn.
Do you know the general area you'll be in? Uh, I'll go add you to our super list of people. Or, my half of the super list. You know, it'd be really helpful if we could edit each other's posts. Planning is a mess when there are three lists for the same thing. Anyways, go add yourself to the map, if you haven't already.

Quote:
However by 17 December, that won't happen. It's already been said a few times here and there that we'd be lucky if the BPP was through with Europe by the end of the year =/
I remember someone guessing it would take a year or two to send it around the world. Oh well. I hope to keep it moving nice and fast. People tend to lose interest in things overtime, so I figure the faster it's moving the more people we'll have in the end.

Whee, go paper go. Time to go work on that invisible To-Do list.

You can't make Australia Post faster. I'm estimating a week postage between cities. Longer for New Zealand and Singapore.

the only active threads right now are this one, which is for ALL discussion about the BPP. then theres the tracking thread which is simply like a scrapbook/memory lane for when all this is done, and it also helps keep record of everyone who's received and sent the BPP. Then there is the thread in the hidden forum just for the organizers to speak about stuff in peac and quiet if they happen to need abit of privacy away from the general public I think that's a great number and doesn't need to be cut down at all. I believe all the other threads have been locked and if not, I'll go lock them.

If you guys need something edited, tell me! I'm the mod and I can edit any post in this forum heh heh-
but seriously, if you need me to update the "master list? tell me, and I'll add names, remove names, etc. it's the least I can do to help. would that help?

Great, so Asci is "Super super busy" and Jodd is pretending that his banner doesn't mean anything. I think I'll go hide in a corner now.
I literally just played dot to dot with the map that was in front of me. If you don't like it, don't use it. There's no point complaining about the uninformed.
