The Homegrown Soundtrack to ZU- Karaoke Time!

Well, Jason has okayed this, so here it goes.

This thread is about the creation of a soundtrack to Zelda Universe. Imagine what it would be like, if Zelda Universe was alive with the sound of music. Imagine the users of ZU uniting in song and dance. Imagine Power Shot strutting his thing while Liah gives a power aria in the background. Sounds interesting, huh? Well, that's what I will be doing here.

Do you think you have any musical singing talents? If so, (or even if not) try submitting your musical efforts here. The general rules are:

1. All recordings entered must be sung by you.
2. They must be song to a track with words/vocals removed.
3. Feel free to make your own tunes and music to sing along to, in fact, that would be more than welcomed.
4. You must be alright with your music being submitted to the general public for download.
5. You must worship me as your bountiful overlord. (why does nobody pay attention to this rule?)

So, get your microphones and diva costumes out, and get singing.

So, Community Co-ordinaters, you think this is specific enough? I'm no good at writing up rule-sy stuff...

Well, I'm gonna have to ask Shikaino to hand over that file of Mattsy singing "Africa" for sure, now

So wait, are we supposed to be making our own "theme songs"? If there's a song in which we think that the existing lyrics apply already, do we have to record the vocals ourselves anyway?

The idea I'm getting from this is that it's a Karaoke/personal theme song showcase.

It's a novel idea, but I don't know how many participants we're gonna have. BE BRAVE, PEOPLE! Don't be shy!

I may contribute to this some time.

If anyone needs a karaoke track for something, just let me know. I can get pretty much anything for free! I'm connected like that

Well, Margar, it basically just ZUers singing. It can be to a pre-existing tune with the words removed, or an entirely new tune and piece of music made by the ZUers themselves. Their choice. I hope to feature famous singers such as Jason (okay, so I'm a suck-up), Cody, Asia, and son.

Power Shot will need the instrumental to "White and Nerdy" by Weird Al.

I'm confused. Can people sing already-existing songs, or do the lyrics have to be changed to somehow 'suit' ZU?

You put this in the community section. Now drop the whole "have to be famous" and "only well known members" thing. If you're going to do something like this, it's only fair to open it up to both the members we all know and the members that we'll all know in the future. Let everyone play. Community events are supposed to include everyone.

And... I still don't entirely get what you plan to do with this. Anyways, good luck. And I refuse to sing.

Yeah, you can sing the original lyrics. You can sing whatever you like, as long as it is you singing and no-one else.

Well, I may as well. Although, I will put a <at least 50 posts and here for 1 month> thing on, just so we don't get completely random people.

What I plan to do with this? I dunno. I didn't really have anything planned. It was just going to be a list of songs by ZUers for ZUers. So that if we wan't to, we can listen to say, Jason or Cody or Margar or <insert person here> singing. Jason said when it was finished he'd put it in Music under Media on the main site. Does it actually be for anything? Last time I checked the Lads vs Lassies thing wasn't for anything either, it was just a fun little event.

there's no reason to exclude anyone from this activity. I've known nebies who dive right into the community and start participating in things right away. it's as if they've always been here. If someone wants to do the same thing here, let them! I doubt we're gonna get an newbs who join, post a song, then never log in again.

the only thing we'd have to worry about is profanity or "trollish" pranks. but abyone determined to cause mischeif like that will disregard any post-count minimum/membership time rules anyway.

I also propose a thread name change to "ZU Karaoke" because that's pretty much what this is. simply changing the thread title would clear up most of the confusion about this.

EDIT: about this making it to the main site- eh. I'm not too keen on that. it just seems a little narcissistic. I'd say that in this thread we're bound to have a mixture of serious and silly stuff, and I think that anything featured on the main site a) should have the permission of the person who posted it
and b) should not be anything too full of inside-jokes and exclusive material. things on the main site need to have a wider appeal. they have to be enticing enough to bring people into the forums, but inviting and inclusive enough not to scare people away or turn them off.

Doesn't seem to be getting much interest, which is a shame. I now have a lonely folder containing a song by Jason, and nothing else.
