Fight Four: Haiku-Off

Fight Four: Haiku-Off

THE RULES:
Quote:
Battle Date: Deadline for battle schedule and completion: Next Friday

Judges: Nénuë and Jinny from Team Lassie and Nolan and Mattocks from Team Lads

Contestants: DarkVaati, Sabbo and Puck Team Lads, and andi , Holic and Lly from Team Lassie

Rules and Regulations: Each contestant shall face an opponent in a seperate "Haiku Battle" thread. Both Contestants shall PM EACH OTHER and agree upon a set time for their Battle and be there. Each battle lasts ONE HOUR as battlers fight and reply to each other using only Haiku. Each contestant has 7 minutes MAXIMUM to think of and post a haiku in reply. If they fail to do so, the other contestant can double post with another Haiku.

Each Haiku will be judged in three categories: Originality, Theme Representation, Entertainment and Time taken to think of Haikus. Each category is awarded one to five points, with one being the lowest and five being the highest, and the Team which garners the most points wins the Fight.

THE JUDGING:

I think this one is kind of self explanatory. Speed covers how long it takes them to respond, shows they can think haiku’s up on their feet. Effectiveness is how well the haiku argues. What they say, if it makes sense, and how it sounds (some of them may actually be quite poetic). Structure of course is 5-7-5, and I think this should also cover grammar (to an extent of course). Structure should be easy points, but is there to make sure it is followed.
THE MATCHUPS:

Andi VS DarkVaati

Sabbo VS Holic

Lly VS Puck

PM EACH OTHER! :>

(Mrs Kassi - PM *ALL* contestants a reminder!)

I suspect that poor Puck is going to be in for some major punishment.

Re: Fight Four: Haiku-Off

Well if Margar's going to flex some mod muscle, we're flexing some judging muscle. To avoid what happened with the Brawl matches we agree on this. All contestants will have, say, 1 week to contact and arrange. Anyone who does not have a set date after that will be disqualified. If you can not get a hold of your opponent, or they do ont respond, let us all know ASAP and they will either be disqualified, or other arrangements shall be made depending on the circumstance. Not letting us know untill the last minute is too late!

well it has to be less than a week to contact and confirm since D-day is next friday. I say we have confirmations by wednesday. the people contact each other, agree on a time, and post that time here. then we can edit the first post to have the match times. that way, if people want to be around for the match when it's going on, they can do so, yes?

EDIT: ah- I see these don't have to be done ON friday, but sometime BY friday.

either way- I say we need confirmation from all parties on time and day by next wednesday... (I mean, my rule isn't final, but that's just what I think would work out)

Stop being so pessimistic. You need to be in the right frame of mind to win, and you my dear Helmet, are not in the right frame of mind. WE WILL WIN!

Oh, and I PMed Holic.

Well yeah, Orwell, but there's also Tolkien, Douglas Adams, Asimov, Shakespeare. And those are just some of the well-known ones; there are most certainly more.

Oh, and a question: Who starts the thread? (Does it matter?) Me and Holic have a time set of 9pm tomorrow night AEST (approx. 25 hours from now)

Re: Fight Four: Haiku-Off

There's no real time during the next week that andi and I can be online at the same time, due to our respective schedules and time zone differences. Is there any chace we can either have a deadline extension, as we are both willing to do it, or swap opponents with another team member?
