I'd say narrow it down, to actually be a topic. Otherwise, why wouldn't people just post their own comics in art/writing, or in the Sprite Comic place? It just seems to general. Define what exactly it would be, rather then just everyone gathering around and throwing out random comics.

EDIT:

I'd say that if it's a group of 5-10 specific people, a social group would be best. If it becomes a specific topic/theme with two or three people, then it would make sense in CC. If it's open free-for-all let's post comics, it should just be a thread.

I'm not sure. I'm sick today, and really having trouble focusing on just about anything.

But all I've gotten is that you want to start a comic project where people make comics to spread laughter. It still seems incredibly general, to the point where a sick, half asleep person can't tell exactly what it is, or what the ZUCC would do other then making random webcomics.

Really, in my original idea, I felt that they would be, kind of random comics, though. Kinda like VG Cats. They would be comics with the same characters, but their only goal would be to make people laugh, not to, you know, make a story.

So basically, from my two quotes, my original intention seems to be a sort of random/silly web-comic for the main site. That's what I still want, however, there could be other ideas, this is a very general topic, especially because we're firstly discussing it now. If we were discussing it like this, like, right before we started working, after we (almost) worked out everything, then you'd have a right to yell(couldn't think of a better word then yell, please do not be mad) at me for not being specific.

Re: ZU Community Center: Got an idea for a project? Read First Post!

My suggestion is to garner support and fellow writers/artists in the art section, and then start this committee (would you be the head?) as a group that makes comics for the newsletter, and of course, the group would have their own art thread for the comic (would it be a running strip or what?).

eventually, it would be sort of like ZU's unofficial webcomic, make some appearances in the newsletter, and if it was magnificently awesome enough, MIGHT make the main site, but I say don't get too far ahead of yourself. Find out if there is enough interest in this sort of project first.

off to the art forum with ye!

Re: ZU Community Center: Got an idea for a project? Read First Post!

Hey, I was thinking.

Since lots of stuff goes on at ZU now and there's so many events, wouldn't it be handy to have a monthly calendar for ZU? We could put down important things on certain dates like big competition deadlines, awards dates, birthdays of certain members like Jason and the staff, the holidays of course, and more.

I'm also thinking there could also be a contest for the picture going in the calendar for whatever the current month is, the entries being made by our graphics artists. Cause, you know, calendars have pictures a lot.

If this idea gets approved, I've already figured out how I'm organizing it. ;D

Re: ZU Community Center: Got an idea for a project? Read First Post!

I think that Zien is right- the newsletter would include upcoming events. Also- Jason had been tossing around an idea about a calendar but either decided against it or it just never happened.

It's not a bad idea, but with the newsletter getting under way, I dont think a seperate calendar would be necessary

No, the newsletter covers current news that deal with Zelda and ZU. The calendar would be covering things happening in the future.

It's hard to explain...I'd have to show you by making an example, but that would take a lot of time to do by myself.

EDIT: Fine, whatever. Do what you want. *leaves feeling rejected*

Stony: We already have a calender. It has birthdays.

Zelda Universe Forums - Calendar

^ See?

Also, I don't think enough of the events have set dates. Things change too often here.

Re: ZU Community Center: Got an idea for a project? Read First Post!

that's a good point, DD- there aren't a lot of events that are planned a whole year in advance, and evenif there were, they'd probably change.

in theory, a ZU calendar would be supercute.
in practice- it's not really practical at all.

no need to throw a tantrum about it.

Maybe you can think of an even better project.

Re: ZU Community Center: Got an idea for a project? Read First Post!

Tantrum? Who's throwing a tantrum? I'm only disappointed that every idea I seem to think of is already being done or can be covered elsewhere (I've thought of more things that I noticed were taken/done elsewhere but did not mention here).

I only want to do something in this section because I feel useless being in ZU for three and a half years and doing barely anything to contribute to this site. And I don't want to hear "well join a project already being done" because I'm already trying to do that for the newsletter, plus I don't feel it's enough to cover how long I've been around.

EDIT: Zien, no, I don't think I can, sorry.

hey zien whenyou quote, you should use the quote button because then I can see the rest of the post that the wuote camefrom. As of now, I need to go back through the threadand see when I said that.

when the Community Central forum was first starting out, I was adamant about not having too many projects going at a time, but now thatI've gotten more usedto this job, there really is no limit, as long as each project has dedicated people in it, and the project is feasible.

And Ranny- sorry, when you said you felt "rejected" I thought you were thinking that we were just shooting you down for no reason and rejecting you because we just felt like being mean (which ofcourse, wasn't the case)

anyway- you've helped contribute to the newsletter (if nothing more, you sparked more discussion and enthusiasm for it!)and you'll be doing the Easter ZUHC card, so I'd say yo're doing you part.

Also- being a member of this community doesn't have to be about being active inspecific projects- the fact that you have an art thread, a GD portfolio, are active in SotW and the other discussions, means that you are contributing to the richnes of the community, even if you're not directly involved in the running/planning of its events.
You shouldn't feel useless, hon

Stop taking my job, Margaret!

You are not officially the card designer yet, but you just might be in due time. (As long as you are ok with it.) We still want to see if anyone else is interested.

Ok, enough ZUHC stuff here. Lets move anything else we have about the ZUHC to the public/private thread. Thanks.

Re: ZU Community Center: Got an idea for a project? Read First Post!

My friends, I have came here today to propose something. Something fun, something cooperative, something that will spark the inner artistic and creative selves of people, and possibly thinking skills, but fun is what's more important.

I would like to propose... A Fan-Made Zelda TCG (Trading Card Game.)

What will we be doing? Whoever is interested in helping, whether it be ideas, design, art or whatever else that fancies them, we'll be cooperating in creating a playable Zelda trading card game. Of course playing it may be a bit limited for some, but the main point of this project is for something where people can get together and express themselves in all sorts of ways, and possibly maybe make new friends in the process. Basically the main point of it is where we can all do something fun.

At the moment, I have already designed some basis of how to play and some samples of card designs. Of course these won't be final and creative input will always be welcomed. And if this gets approved, then I'll also be making one of those DA Club things that will act as a database of sorts.

If there are any questions, feel free to ask. That is all I guess.

How will this game be played... in threads?

Re: ZU Community Center: Got an idea for a project? Read First Post!

It's not really meant to be played because of how this is set up. Basically it's set up like a real TCG. The main point of it however is supposed to be fun and expressing ourselves artisticly and creatively. However if people want to play it, sure I guess, but they might have to print out the cards and play it with some local friends.

As for there being too many community projects, I was unaware of that.

So, it's kind of like a "Hey, look what I made!" kind of thing? If so, not really going to work. ZU has a section (or two) to show artwork. The ZUHC loves making artwork, but even its' more to express the holidays, not a "Look what I've made!"
